I can't be the only Thalmor fan, can I?

I've aleady taken a look at that I I don't draw the same conclusions as you do but thank you for taking the time to answer my post.

Is that canon though? Just going by what I've picked up from the games, the references in other games it seems to be mere platitudes; UESP doesn't reference this either, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Factions_T. If you can point me in the direction that says definately this is what they believe and not just what they say I'd like to take a look at it. I know its not your job to link things but to a fellow Kentuckian, I'd appreciate it.

The Books are indeed cannon, to my distate. The bit about killing man can be found http://www.imperial-library.info/category/tags/lorkhan and is an inside commentary by former dev Michael Kirkbride (known as MK here on the fourms) that was posted on the fourms. As for its cannonocity, well thats really up to your own personal belief I suppose. While MK doesn't work for Beth anymore, he freelance writes for them and many of his works have been included in Skyrim, particularly stuff about Sovengard and the Eye of Magnus. I've not been able to find his post on KIMMUNE in the fourm, but it added some very interesting stuff on the Eye before Skyrim was released. Given MK is one of the corner stones of TES lore, I take what he says in high consideration. You'll find most lore schollars (and I'm no where near knowledgable enough to make that claim) will tell you the same.

You can't play as a Thalmor (even as an Altmer) in Skyrim and it seems that the fanbase almost universally hates the Thalmor. There have to be more fans out there...right?

(As far as I'm concerned, Talos is not a Divine. He's merely the avatar of a Divine.)
By Talos I hope not...

What the...? Did you actually just call my artwork homo erotic and tell me I should die? Seriously?
First of all, I'm not "homo"... I'm a girl. Secondly, telling someone they should "die" is totally messed up and immature. If you don't like my art, then say it you don't like it, but don't tell me I should die! :flame:
lol sorry hope i didnt upset, it was a joke, that is poorly reflected due to written language barrier for inflection, it was in the anti thalmor spirit of things, seriously were talking about a fictional race on the internet, no need to take opinions seriously, if you took all the sentiments seriously(as in real life serious) in this topic we'd be in some trouble with people agreeing with the thalmor and all lol. Art wise i actuly think your picture is well done, you should be proud. (inaddition i said the picture gave me the homo erotic vib its is just an opinion, plus the subject is provactive towards the viewer, if both are male? thats not negativity, one of my best friends for a long time is gay, we studied fine art at uni together, would agree with me.) Also what i ment was die ALL you real life thalmor supports!(not die irl that would be messed up, but that said if you think like the thalmor in real life youd be a pretty scary person deep down) x x x :P

Don't sweat it. He obviously has some mental illness, if a simple drawing invokes wishes of death on people.
ps remember its a game (mainly focused on killing, considering people in this thread are supporting thalmor supremist behavour i would have thought a random 'die thalmor supports' comment whouldnt have been taken to heart by so many. but apprently i have a mental illness... maybe :s i cant see ot form letter patterns properly no matter the practise or the increase in aptitude, if i had my pc already i would use 'word' honest..

You want them to destroy the world? I can't fathom why anyone who enjoys playing an ES game would ever want them to succede. By winning there litterally cannot ever be another ES game. Ever.

Thats only a superficial goal, one that maybe the people of Tamriel see, but the Thalmor's plans are far more sinister than just 'take over the world'. If they win, they won't rest until the world is free of creation.

and that's bad??!!

maybe the next world is due and they are simply doing what nature/gods want anyways.

our own planet owes its existence to millions of civilizations, stars, planets, galaxies that died a long time ago before we were formed and we in turn must die to give life to the next stage

The Thalmor goals would mean the end of creation, period. Forever. There would be no next Kapla, there would only be the time before creation when they were all immortal spirits. They see the world as a prison, and a prison they do not wish to ever be trapped in again, which is why their going about this deal of getting rid of Talos (Lorkhan) for good, so there won't be a 'next time'.

edit: To answer your question. For someone who sees the mortal plane as good, yes, its is very bad.

Most low rank Thalmor are probably supporting it out of fear.

well they are kinda right, but I don't think even they can prevent the next creation from happening, since they can't see beyond time and can't comprehend an existence outside space and existence itself

I don't think the Thalmor are truely able to do much other than blow smoke, but that doens't make their goals any less dangerous. Weather or not they can or cannot do it is really up in the air, however, I can't support them in their goals when creation offers more than simply being stagnent in the 'before time'. Nirn presents the oppertunity for mortals to assend to something greater than mere 'immortal spiritdom', the chance to become greater than a 'god'. They just cant seem to get passed living in a time before creation.

Plus, I despise the Khajiit and I wouldn't care if they were wiped out. I kill them everywhere I see them anyway, if they're not essential.

It would even be an opportunity to add some of the other non-featured races into the games.

Wow... You deserve to be with the thalmor you derranged racist. I bet youve read mein kampf more than once.

It's almost silly how arrogant they are. Is arrogance in their genetics? Are they born with it? It's remarkable. Every single one is an ego maniacal self centered human hating conceited doobie.
Yes they are born with it. High elves, always thinking so high of themselves. I say burn them all, and then some.

but

they ARE better than everyone else

on every level they have the right to claim superiority, cause they ARE actually a Superior race

I don't like it but its true :P

The differene is the Dwenemr were polite enough to try and only remove themselves from creation, not take the whole world down with them. I'd be fine if the Thalmor just wanted to poof themselves back to before the Dawn, but nooo they gotta take everyone else with them.

Edit: I wonder, just how do you think the Altmer are superior in every way?

The Thalmor are effectively the nazis of Tamriel. You're not supposed to like them. They're like... Elf-Supremacists!

They write elf-help books and fill most everyone else with elf-loathing.

well aside from the arrogance problem they did have a hand in establishing all other languages/architecture/magic..... etc

but I do agree the (kill everything and everyone goal) is kinda ...well insane BUT I do agree that only in death new life can be created I just don't think its the Thalmor's job to do it.

I only want to help them establish a new empire and take back their island (which is Tamril)

They are mere spellcasters, who after a simple silence spell can't do anything.

Honestly i actually like the thalmor as a potential enemy in the future they show that they can rule with force if they have to. I bet we will see a lot more of them to come in upcoming dlc.

And they also show how effective rebellion against them can be. The funny thing is that the Thalmor have definitely overstretched and I don't think they will be capable of doing anything damaging for at least a few hundred more years, if they last that long. But you are right, we will probably see more of them soon.
