You can't play as a Thalmor (even as an Altmer) in Skyrim and it seems that the fanbase almost universally hates the Thalmor. There have to be more fans out there...right?

You are pretty much alone. The Thalmor want to kill off all of the non elf races, and eliminate man if they can not enslave them. So they are not good, they are the far end of evil.

Yeah they deserve to be hated. I'm walking on the road, see people in nice shiny elven armor, decide to go talk to them. After a rather unpleasant conversation they brought up Talos, I said something I shouldn't have and they all started attacking me.

I like them. If by like you mean killing all of them and using their clothes.. If that counts as liking them, then yes I do.

same thing in the grand scheme of things, and the thalmor also hate shor/lorkhan anyways. Besides i love the tes games, if the thalmor truely win there won't be anymore...they're omnicidal ya know

I did Ondolemar's quest and those Justiciars like me. But immediately after their Execution Order was issued on me, despite not killing a single Thalmor (pre-embassy quest). Bethesda should have handled the Thalmor better. I hope there's a DLC that lets us choose to join them.



They don't have to make a Thalmor victory canon. Fallout: NV could have ended with the whole Mojave dead (after Dead Money).

I like them. The arrogance is kind of.... cute.. in a way. Or maybe I just like Altmer in general.

I've played as an Altmer in my two playthroughs.

I have yet to notice them treating me much differently on my Altmer. Race doesn't factor into much for the most part, I've heard Khajiit caravaneers don't even acknowledge you being a Khajiit.

It's almost silly how arrogant they are. Is arrogance in their genetics? Are they born with it? It's remarkable. Every single one is an ego maniacal self centered human hating conceited doobie.

Thalmor are persecuting people due to their beliefs, robbing the world of the towers which keep it in place and are all round snobs.
And you wonder why there are not more fans of them! it's like being a fan of the Mythic Dawn from Oblivion. But well idiocy holds no bounds.

You know I myself have a saying about the thalmor "every bad thalmer is a live thalmer, every good thalmer is a dead thalmer." It's true, really.

Altmer are genetically superior to all others. They are also the only race to gain stat bonuses, +50 magicka boost pretty much means that you are always five levels ahead of others.

While I'm skeptical about their ALLEGED end-of-the-world plans, I think Elves deserve to stomp on a human face for a change.
In the ideal situation there is an empire for humans, mer and beasts.

Altmer have always been this way though, but Thalmor have stepped it up, I think.

It's not the same thing though. The Mythic Dawn would have altered Nirn (and the in-game world) if they were successful. I doubt that if the Thalmor were a joinable/supportable faction that they'd end up destroying the world in this game.


Yay. Where did that end-of-the-world stuff come from anyway? They mention showing Humans their supremacy a century at a time...that doesn't sound like a group immediately planning to destroy the world.

Are you kidding me? Dovahkiin, Dragonborn aiding the Thalmor in taking down the towers? I shudder to think on how little time that would take.
Do realise that Dovahkiin has the potential to be a thee next Talos. Talos, whom as Tiber Septim conquered most if not all of Tamriel to forge an empire.

The mythic dawn would have altered the world with the Champion of Cyrodiil's help. That's not as bad as outright helping a faction destroy it.
In this the Thalmor are worse than the Mythic Dawn could ever be. Every foulmer or thalmor deserves to have his or her head sent back to the Old Mary's dominion.

That end of the world stuff came from a guy who used to work for Bethesda back during Morrowind. He wrote an Unofficial story about the Thalmor and posted it in a forum and just because he used to work for Bethesda (making the lore) everyone is acting like it's canon.

You have to remember, the Thalmor are designed to be as unlikeable as humanly (n.p.i) possible.

Racial Supremeacy? Check.

Strong references to the 3rd Reich? Check. (only thing missing really is hitler-figure. But I have a feeling that come the DLCs we'll have that soon enough)

Ghestappo- like robes? Check.

Snobby attitudes towards the player regardless of actions or race? Check.

Unjoinable? Check.

Tortures people with no due process? Check.

Trying to destroy the world by offing every (or at least enough) talos worshipers? Check.

Trying to stop the player at just about every turn for no decernable reason? Check.


Unlike the stormcloaks and the legion, you aren't SUPPOSED to see any gray-area in them. It's not supposed to be any "They do this bad, but they do good by doing that" You aren't supposed to see any "light at the end of the tunnel". You're supposed to hate them.
