Cannot Install Fallout 3 New Vegas : Fallout: New Vegas

Just got back from the midnight release at my local Gamestop with my copy of New Vegas. Steam will not let me install the game, claims it is not released yet. What gives?

The game does not unlock until 12AM PST. At the time of this post, it is 9:15PM in the West Coast.

All PC versions have to activate through Steam and Steam isn't unlocking the game until midnight Pacific time, which is 3AM on the east coast.

Different time zones.

It really is kinda lunacy when you think about it. Everybody's gotta wait for Pacific Time to catch up. God Forbid somebody in New York can play it before somebody in San Diego!

Stupid. you guys have to wait for Steam to nurture every customer in North America. Bethesda is near the East Coast.

Worse Steam is insensitive to those who have to wait for the game to be delivered. I have to unlock the game through steam, why can't you wait until a reasonable time whereupon the game atleast has a chance of being in my possession so i can activate it.

I don't think a lot of people understand time zones. It's the schools' fault. Or their parents. Or their own.

Legally blurry? How? We aren't guaranteed anything, this is the terms that were given us, and we chose to accept them by purchasing the game.

We were given ample time to know what the deal was, it wasn't sprung on us last minute.

2400 PST is the same time as 0300 EDT, also... just because the numbers are different doesn't mean a thing.

By "Legally Blurry" I am referring to the fact that I purchased a product and am not permitted to use said product until X time. But no where in my purchase agreement with Gamestop was it stipulated that I was required to wait until 3AM PST until I could utilize said product, 3 hours after I purchased.

Yeah, it's kinda like Doomsday Prophets where the world will end at such a such time or such a such date, then you can cause their brain to lock up by asking what Time Zone that'd be in.

I still remember the Y2K scare and how the world was gonna end at Midnight. "Midnight according to who?"

Yeah it svcks and yeah it is poor form by Valve. But ultimately your talking about a few hours. So either slam some red bulls to make it to the release time or get some sleep and play it all day tomorrow.

Though let's be honest, it is pretty stupid that PC players are stuck waiting for the Pacific Time Zone to catch up with the rest of them.

Though, if I'm being honest, given I'm on Central Time, it's still thirty minutes to midnight here so I wouldn't have the copy yet even if I was going to buy it tonight.
