Sorry, but you are wrong. When I see a game, I don't like reading up too much about. Especially on forums, with the Trolls and [censored]. I check the developers site for gameplay videos and maybe a Demo. That is it.

Furthermore the Midnight release typically starts at 10pm. I got to my Gamespot at 11pm ET. That is 4 hours of waiting. Now I get to hope Steam does not crash with everyone trying to activate the game at once...

I had my PC copy paid off but only went to the midnight release to see if anyone would trade there PC Collectors Edition for my copy and id throw in the difference & add like $10 or $20 they'd make off it. Guess what?

NO one had the PC version ordered at all and there was only two PC version's even pre ordered from the store as is lol

Because in most places outside of the US, you pay for bandwidth like in Canada. If I don't have to blow 7-20gb downloading stuff then I won't end up paying 50c/GB on top of something I already paid for.

Hey guys im from Australia. We are actually ahead of all of you guys in the US, and i still cant play it on Steam.

The most frustrating part of this is that steam told me last night that the game would be playable in approx 4 hours. So, i went ahead and paid $90AU for it, went to bed while it downloaded, and awoke this morning to find that the game wont be playable for 2 and a half days! wtf!!! I cant believe how poor of a service that is. Iv always loved steam, but that is really bad. FML

Having pre-ordered my copy well before it was announced that steam would be a requirement I am very disappointed with the rollout of this game. I am further disappointed in the choice to require PC players to have an internet connection to activate in order to play. Very poor choices on Bethesda's part, and I hope it has a negative impact on their business. Even Electronic Arts is better than this.

I am a business owner, my company builds custom computers specifically for gamers; Trust that I will be stearing every one of my customers away from this game, and Bethesda as a whole. I for one will not support a company that treats it's customers this way, and will actively work to see that the message gets to those who make such choices-by hurting their wallet.

told you this would happen back in the week. And it's going to happen all over again (on a global scale) on Friday. Sigh.... :facepalm:

Stuck this over on the steam forums in a topic that's much the same.

The game isn't officially released until 12:01 PST (which is steams local time) the box and disk are available for sale at 12:00 wherever sold but the game is not available until steam passes into the 19th.

This is how steam based games have always worked, this complaint is nothing new, most people deal with it and move on, forum goers are unfortunately more vocal and can't just wait.

For those of you saying "oh but I don't want to wait" or "I can't wait I have to go to bed before it's released!"
Well that kinda svcks but you can play later in the day, starting to play a game later doesn't lower the amount of time it takes to beat it. you'll get the same amount of enjoyment no matter when you start playing.


Adding here: for those of you outside the US/Canada steam cannot release the game to you until your local release date.

I am kinda irked, but not so bad that I would tell people NOT to buy it.

Heck, I like the collectors edition so much id almost buy a second copy to keep it sealed and mint.

I remember waiting for a while for a midnight release on steam to unlock after it hit 12 on the west coast, so don't get your hopes up when that happens.

This really is just another example of poor choices passing through the game industry. I have done my best to avoid steam and now I have no option here... If I wanted to use steam I would have bought the damn game on steam. Can't stand that I have to wait to play a game loaded in my disc tray with a legit code registered. If I had known this crap i would have just picked the copy up after work tomorrow since that is when I'll get to play it now anyway. Love the collector's edition though. I only got this game for the pc so that I could mod the game. That better be worth it.

Thought it was funny though. Out of like the 60 people that were there i was like the only dude that had to wait for his PC Collectors Edition because they forgot em in the back. Is no one nostalgic anymore? I'd like to know who else was all there that actually played the original Fallout 1 and 2...... Guarantee it was a Very small percentage. Oh well, ill take shower, read the comic. Play with my collectors items. And prepare for 3AM.

This is the worst idea ever. I think I am more ticked off that I chose the physical disk over digital download but I still wont be able to play the game if I decide to take my computer offline. If this becomes a trend among game developers then consider me no longer a gamer consumer.

Steam is currently telling me the game will be out in 2 days and 19min. Is that what it is saying for you guys?

I don't even have a Collectors Edition to play with because my local video game store didn't get any CE's and decided to tell me 2 weeks ago and give me my 70 dollars back....When all the Collectors Editions were gone in town.

what this comes down to is our rights being trampled one little bit by one little bit. it happens so gradually that everyone (who is sane at the moment, unlike me) says "no big deal, the sky isnt falling"... your only partially right, its just falling piece by [censored] piece.

if you guys have noticed gaming today is much different than gaming 10-20 years ago. DLC on the date of launch, DRM etc... all of this BS is trampling our rights.

and if we keep just saying no big deal its only 3 hours, in another 5 years we will be saying, no big deal, just as long as i paid 60$ and got half the game, i'll pay another 60$ to get the 2nd half unlocked. every year i see something new, developers but mostly publishers see how for they can push this [censored], and we need to start voting with our wallets and comments that we wont put up with back room bullsh1t like this.

it sits right next to me and somewhere someone making bad decisions is not allowing me to play something i paid for.

Hmm.. its been a while since i've played any games via Steam... and i guess last time i did install a game, it wasn't on release day so i didn't have this problem.. but it is a bit disappointing that i have the disc. i paid for the game, yet i can't really do much with it at the moment.

it's times like this i remember why i have a 360 and a ps3 to go along with my pc... now if only i'd picked up two copies of the game haha

This is a joke. A really bad [censored] joke. Alright It may only be a few hours for most people but I work at 8 PST tomorrow, for 8 [censored] hours then i have band practice till 2 am tomorrow, then i work at 8 for another 8 hours again. So put simply I dont get to play for another couple days. I wanted to have some fun before I marathon for the next 2 days, but thanks to steams idiotic rules,,,, >_< honestly Bethesda and steam. What the [censored] gives!!? why are console gamers allowed to play the game and pc gamers not. Is this some stupid scheme so that we'll all stop buying PC games and start buying Xbox so you guys can make easier money? Thanks for screwing me and all the other PC gamers over ass[censored]s!!!

It really wouldnt surprise me. Consoles really are taking over...
