pc cheats on the xbox

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:10 pm

I've emailed bethesda on this SOOOOOOOO many times. I think that the cheats from the pc should be included in the xbox 360 and ps3. Dont start thinking im just someone else who dosent want to die, i've finished the main story with 2 different characters. But it would be awesome to save a game, put in some npc and god mode cheats and just go nuts :]

If you want PC cheats for the 360, have at it. I'm for anything that enhances people's enjoyment of games.

Me, I want Mods as DLC. I don't think that we'll ever see them though, because of all the legal and financial trappings that Microsoft and Sony wouldn't go for. If the good folks that spent time developing those Mods wanted to get paid, I say pay'em.

But cheats would be interesting. I'd make a character just to fool around with them for a bit. Just to see what kind of crazy and epic antics I could get into. Who knows? Mounted horseback is a step towards adding new mechanics into the game. And Beth has shown they can be generous with DLC (Oblivion, FO3, FO:NV). There's still hope!

I'd pay a reasonable price for a pack or two, but we probably wouldn't get some of the nvde or 'enhancement' ones.

As others have suggested, and I'm inclined to believe, mods that are created for the game probably become the legal property of Bethesda so that wouldn't be the hurdle. :P And as long as Sony and Microsoft got a few bucks for each pack they'd allow it.

It would be so awesome to have different mods for DLC packs. Im sure if bethesda actually tried they could work out a deal with Microsoft or Sony. I still think it would be cool to have the console command cheats from the pc on the xbox or ps3. I personally dont have a computer, i have a tablet, so instead of paying somewhere around $150 i'd much rather keep the game i have and just get an update with cheats... make some epic and insane battles'n stuff :)

Mods are the intellectual property of the creator not Bethesda.

They won't add anything to the game that's owned by a individual and not first party created or supported by the first party.

If they allow it you would need the keyboards for each system. Even then it's rather iffy because both companies Sony/ms hate mods of any kind on their systems or moding the consoles. You will not see third party mods on a console and console commands will never make it because it's a blanket "cheating" thing.

Unless you are the head of the Legal and Marketing departments of Bethesda you don't know that for sure. They can change their minds in the blink of an eye. ...but it is unlikely that all 4 of those entities will ever come to an agreement.

Edit:

From the Creation Kit EULA:
You automatically grant to Bethesda Softworks the irrevocable, perpetual, royalty free, sublicensable right and license under all applicable copyrights and intellectual property rights laws to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, perform, display, distribute and otherwise exploit and/or dispose of the New Materials (or any part of the New Materials) in any way Bethesda Softworks, or its respective designee(s), sees fit.

I know, right? :D

FWIW, I would be more interested in making the females a little more curvy and give them cuter clothes than nvde mods, but it would be funny to turn a nvde on one for a little while - I'd get bored with it pretty quickly though. :P I'd like to be able to dress my wives in nicer clothes, too. There are other mods I'd be interested in, too. :o I'd love to be able to 'build' a house in the wilderness or convert Goldenglow into a liveable residence...things like that.

Stop right there, a console is not for "cheating," it is for debugging. Using console commands can break your game and can also harm your hardware. As it is, vanilla skyrim is made specifically for what the 360 can handle. The 360 is 7 year old hardware. Pushing it any more than what currently exists, e.g. spawning 30 imperials to fight 30 stormcloaks, can overburden it and can cause damage. Microsoft doesn't want to have to deal with potential issues that can result from misuse and neither does bethesda.

It's not a cheats console.
It's a tool for devs and modders, which can severely damage the game if misused.

I wouldn't mind seeing something akin to the Steam Workshop going to XBox Live or PSN, but Sony or Microsoft would probably take advantage and make you pay :meh:

NO!

I want my game pure, free from cheats and such things. Some mods can be awesome, but not cheats. Cheats just makes me paranoid.

I know nothing about the XBox or the PS3 so this might be a stupid question. Is it possible to type in console commands using a controller?

Here we go again...

The command line console is not a toy. It does not exist solely for cheats. It is a developer tool, and misuse WILL break your game. The console companies don't want to be responsible for that.

I see no reason not to. It would be kinda cool to mess around with and entirely optional for those who don't want it.

I've never seen a "console" in any game I own on either, but anything is possible with programming. :P

I haven't shopped for accessories lately, but MS used to sell a small QWERTY keyboard (slightly larger than a smart phone) for messaging and I've plugged a full-sized USB keyboard into both systems and used it. In answer to your specific question though: yes, we could because get a virtual pop-up keyboard when necessary and move a cursor L-R-Up-Down to type things like when we name our characters or rename enchanted items.

I don't think he wants it to work the same way as it does on PC.
He is basically asking for cheats allowing you to toggle god mode / infinite magicka / raise skill / add perks e.t.c

Yeah that's if you over due it, if you use some self control and not go bonkers with it you should be in the clear. I cannot see spawning in enough arrows to do you 2 life times breaking the game, nor can I see spawning in unobtainable stuff like certain clothing effecting your game all that much. But if you where to say spawn in 40 imperials VS 40 stormcloaks then I can see the Xbox having none of it, or spawn 7-8 dragons in one cell but that's just a matter of self control like I said. And if you did over do it and broke your game and or console in the doing, the answer I can see getting from Micro would basically be you shouldn't have done it tuff nuggies.

I can't imagine console commands "breaking" hardware. If you spawn more models than the console can render you're gonna' get frame drop and lag. I don't believe the console would overclock the CPU and GPU to compensate thereby "breaking" the hardware.

I think you would really have to put it through the wringer for that to happen, Xboxes are tougher then some PCer's believe.

Its no different than when you're on halo and you overload the forge map. Sure it'll lag but you shouldn't go overboard. I'm talking about cheats through the controller, like button combinations, or you could try to plug in a usb keyboard and put in commands like that. They could make it work if they wanted, and like i said... if you don't want them don't use them. Simple as that.

I have one (my 6th in 4 years, but the optical drives kept going out - it wasn't the CPU or GPU burning out ) and I suspect a bus would control the throughput to the CPU and GPU so I don't know that they could be burned out unless the environmental temperature was abnormal. Hopefully someone who knows more about the hardware engineering will come along. I seem to recall reading posts in other sections of this forum (Bugs maybe) where people said that games run on them can't cause hardware issues.

Absolutely. They could even add a Tab to the Menu. There are plenty of console games that have incorporated cheats. :P
