Class

I won't be one of those who think Operative is an assassin--if anything, when I feel the itch to ninja around and kill people by surprise, I'll probably be a light soldier.

You are my hero.

I'm a simple man. I don't need tech trees. I rather punch you in the face then stab you in the back. And I much rather be the killer then the healer.

That is why I play Soldier in these type of games.

just don't concentrate TOO much on just killing - there are objectives to be done, and killing is the worst form of xp payment.

Seems to me that, if an Operative is gonna be compared to anything... it's more like one of those guys in TF2 who runs around sapping everything... Regardless, I like the idea of staying away from the frontline, while still helping out my team, and getting a few kills to top it off.

A thought regarding the Soldier... If a Soldier specializes in destroying obstacles, theoretically, I could go light soldier, and run around opening up shortcuts for my heavier comrades? I also like the idea of going light Soldier, climbing up onto some roofs, and playing grenadier on some unsuspecting baddies.

A final note... To people who seem to think that light characters are gonna be worse, presumably cause they die faster and kill slower, I'm betting that it's gonna be all about flanking... which means you're probably gonna be able to get in more shots and get hit less before your targets know what's hitting them.

you won't be able to open up 'any' shortcut - it will most likely be reduced to specific points, on specific maps, and they will probably be marked on the objective wheel. Most likely only like 1 maybe 2 'shortcuts' on maps that support them -

Ex. You need to escort X to Y. the main path is long, you have a side mission to blow the barricade to access an underground tunnel. Once you blow it, that's it - no more shortcuts. Now what are you going to do? Building a Light Soldier, just for the reason you stated seems trivial, and rather useless.

It's not just about having less health - it's about having A LOT less health. Rahdo describes Lights as , "A light breeze being able to knock you down." Lights are also the only body type by default, you can be insta-killed by a knife attack, and I also remember hearing something about headshots, in some way or another, can kill Light's in one hit.

It's not my hate for Lights, it's me constantly explaining to people that just because you have a body like Bruce Lee, it doesn't make you Bruce Lee...I would say like 85% or more (probably more) of the people I encounter who want to be Lights, have this total misconception of how they will operate, and how the game plays in general.

- yes, Lights are faster and more agile
- yes, there is a smoothed out movement system
- no, this is not Mirror's Edge 2.0
- no, this does not mean you have access to moves that the other body types do not.
- no, this does not mean you will be a ninja, and/or Neo from the Matrix
- no, this does not mean you will be a "1ee7 Sn1per" and/or drop from the ceiling like Batman.

You are the fastest, and can climb the highest , you have the least amount of health, the smallest power bars, and the least amount of weapons to select from - If this sounds like something you want, then choose Light, if not, then don't.

People think lights are going to be ninjas, it is getting annoying I suppose.

I don't think Lights are as weak as you make them seem Horse. It would be too unbalanced, and they would be worthless. No point being light and sneaking around the obstacles if you are just going to die because the other team glares in your general direction.

I agree with Thief. They can't be that weak and if they are right now in the game, I would imagine the developers would make them a little stronger before release since they are testing the game everyday.

The way Rahdo describes them is "a strong breeze will knock you over," and I know that a knife will kill them in one hit, if they don't have a health buff, so you do the math... Think of it this way, if the 'cons' of Lights are that severe (lack of health), think about how strong their pro's will be (speed and mobility). The same is true for for Heavies - they pack a mean punch, and are a son of a [censored] to put down, but they are probably slow as [censored].

Body types aren't just about pros and cons - they incorporate different playstyles. The Light may have piss poor health, because he's not really designed to charge head first into a battle.

See the way I see it this game stresses team work so being light won't be a problem because they will be moving around the Medium Body guys supporting with their skills. So it isn't like you are going to be a Light verses a Heavy, you will probably have a teammate or two to help you out so I'm not buying that Light is going to die alot and Heavy is going to own I think this is going to be a balanced game, that is heavy on the class changes

I'll playing as a light operative, not the anger ninja hooded terrible team mate stereo type, but because I LOVE to flank. If you want to kill me just watch your most vulnerable flanks, i'll be somewhere near there. I just hope if I put a full clip of my Kross SMG in a heavy's kidney he'll go down.

While I am sure I will play other classes plenty I already know I will be a front-line medic.

I can imagine it now...

Charging down the center fold, my team using my heavy armor as a forward shield as they put rounds down-field, left, right and center and even if they take em down, a quick revive and heal and its back to the charge!

"THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!"

I feel like I am going to like playing the operative soldier and engineer. The operative I will probably hold off on until the hype dies down.

I have a feeling that the operative is not like a spy, if anything he is closer to a scout from tf2. What I do see them as (sorry for using MW2 terms) SMG, pistol, marathon, stopping power or lightweight, and steady aim. Hes seems like he is going to be more of a guy that jumps around, sprays people.
But then again everyone will have different builds of the operative. If people don't all build them to be assassins or snipers having more operatives wont be too bad. Plus if there are a ton of operatives

The more I think about it, the more fun a lightweight soldier sounds; jumping around gunning people down and raining grenades.... hmmmm
