By cannon do you mean turret? Because you do know the turrets are meant more as a distraction than an uber cannon of dooooom.

i suppose operative.... but i dont necessarily like the classes
theres not enough
think there should be a more suitable class for light body type
whats the point of having a medic that dies to easy. though i suppose it could work to advantage so you could heal yourself
lights cant be soldier and "be in the forefront" just to get gunned down by a heavy.
to be rly good at light boy type i think u rly have to learn how to use the speed to your advantage
and with no ctf i cant think of anyway that you can at the moment

On top of body types offering different pros and cons, they each require the player to adapt to a different type of play style. Saying "there should be classes suitable for Lights," is just whining, because EVERY class is suitable for EVERY body type - you just have to play them differently. Like how everyone associates the Operative with a light body - a heavy can be just as good as an Operative (if not better) just like a light can be just as good a Soldier as a light. You ask what's the point of a light Medic? Fast revives. A light Medic can get to where his teammates need him very quickly. He can run in, pop some revives, drop health, and then get back into cover. He will also be providing a distraction, since the enemy team will most likely be trying to gun him down - use your speed to your advantage. You also wouldn't need to be right up near your team. You could be dropping health packs from 15' above.

Heavy engineer is the class for me. I hope there are gatling guns like in the background. I'd be the ultimate defender.

I still wonder what they mean when they say that the Soldier specializes in grenades. How many different types of grenades will there be? Does that affect grenade launchers as well? Ah, so many delightful questions. Rarely do I get so excited for a game still months from release.

I think grenades refers to throwing grenades, not launchers. I don't think they would have it so a class can manipulate the type of ammo weapons get - but you never know :)

I've thought the same for a while. The only real adv is the extra routes, which players might end up camping out anyway.

Soldier isn't that bad I am guessing though, because you can sustain more damage than any other class (probably equivocal to an extra bullet) and use grenades on heavies. It isn't a bad strategy. The only reason heavies are going to die is backstabbing, sniping, grenades and gradual damage until death (because regeneration doesn't go back to full hp).

Being really good, as you are saying, with impressive movement aim will end up being balanced with heavy, which is primarily aim based, which I do think is a little stupid because you have to go out on a limb and be very good at what you do just to maintain a positive k/d. If heavy ends up being pro balanced with light, then ppl will start downgrading from light and it will be a boring campfest, however, if light is pub balanced with heavy, any good player shouldn't really have a problem laying out a heavy and his precious sandvich.

With what I know about Splash Damage, I am guessing this game will be public balanced, sort of like TF2.

Soldier has increased health, and SD have mentioned that there are area denial grenades. Area denial might equivocate to flashbangs, stun grenades, tear gas, or some other disorientation grenade. Soldiers can also buff the damage/kill radius of explosives with their ability points. That's about all I know, unless you didn't know you can spend points on optional route-entry detonations (from my understanding), ie you can open certain flanking pathways by planting charges (an in game objective). To do this you need certain abilities.

Abilities (or as some ppl call them skills) aren't always simple running, hp, etc perks, they can give items to be used in fighting (ie medic reviving tools, engineer turrets, etc).

if that is your mentality, then this game isn't for you. If you are worried about maintaining a good k/d, then you should stick with games like Halo and MW2. They decided to stear clear of leaderboards for just this reason - just like what Rahdo said:

"I'm really sensitive to the dangers of introducing things in the game that people can obsess over, to the point of ruining the game for others, and we're very careful to identify and avoid them. For instance, global leaderboards for stuff like k/d ratios and what not: bad idea, since they disccourage players from taking chances and actually doing what's necessary to help. So bam! Not having them. I know other games do, and they're kind of standard, but screw it, not the right thing for Brink."

Im glad Splash Damage have created a game that's a nice break from the "K/D ratio means everything" market. Maybe now people will be more encouraged to actually team play on consoles.

It's still a FPS though, meaning killing is our business and business is good. I'm totally going to be a team player, but I'm all for shooting people in the face when possible. Glad to know I don't really have to worry about kills or deaths though. I can be as aggressive or supportive as I want. :flamethrower: :flamed:

That's why I love this game. Most people care about K/D, so they slow down their play style just to make themselves look better than they actually are. The teamplay alone should speed things up significantly, so long as everyone adopts their own strategy and not just the strategy that is best for kills, which shouldn't be a large problem because of the xp system.

the xp system only helps so much, same for no 1 shot head kills and knife kills - people are going to play the way they want, regardless of any precautions taken to 'limit' certain playstyles - some will actually do it out of spite towards the game.

Some people just want every game to be Deathmatch or Team Slayer....

I remember so many matches of "Team" Fortress where they were filled with snipers and spies just getting cheap kills. I am sure Brink will avoid this :)

I′ll play the Engineer for the most of the time.
I like his ability to set up Turrets and repair stuff.
I also think his Missions are great.
This Class really sounds like fun °^.^°

And most of the time (in other FPS) i′ve played the "Soldier" Standard Class.
So i will give it a try.

(Like playing a female Character in a MMORPG for the first time)

Well I simply love that operative in the Trailer, even though it dies at the end, all that parkour he makes and all about hacking systems and spying looks very attractive to me

I just thought he was an operative because he hacks the crane to kill that resistance big guy.

In any case if what you said is correct then I think I may change betwen operative and soldier eventually, it just depends on how I feel when ill be playing the game, I just want it to be very quick and a slick one
