Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #27

New contents - if seen from a new perspective (i.e. another era/time) and well developed /written -could be anyway a great Dlc - even in the same land (Skyrim)

Just think at the opportunity to visit Wintherhold before the Great Collapse or goin' in Black Reach and the other Dwemer Cities when their original inhabitants were still there

its called "marketing" ...the less you say,the more will be the "hype" around your product.

Indeed. Before the game was launched, Bethesda said they asked to themself : "How would Apple craft the User Interface?" Now they probably have wondered how Apple would sell the product...

Also: The pessimists are the true optimists, no matter what happens, we are always pleasantly surprised.

Haha! That's true after all.

Something I look forward to is to see how the feedback from the community and fans have affected the design choices of the comming DLC.
Yeah I'm curious about that too, and we shouldn't forget Vsions' http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371334-dawnguard-and-future-dlc-discussion-thread-25/page__st__150 in a previous thread:

Anyway, when the info is finally disclosed, I think you guys will be very happy. We have been checking out fan feedback and trying to improve and add based on alot of that, so my claim of "hold on to your undies" still stands  Just hold on to them for a little longer is all.

Of course that doesn't tell us which fans they listened to or to what extent... but it sounds promising

(and if we actually get crossbows that will at least please some people - finally)

You are able to judge a wine before drinkin' it ? or a meal before eating it ? I think you've misunderstood what i'm wrote, really

The fact that we have only a picture for now doesn't mean nothing; you remember what i've said above about "marketing" ?

No...no...how do I explain this...

Ok, look, I began my initial post with the words 'I'm starting to worry that...' to which you responded with something along the lines of 'you can't know that'. And indeed I do not, I can not. Being worried that something might be the case is an expression that is used to indicate that, while you don't know if something is the case, you hope it is not, yet fear it might be. This fear is usually nothing more than a gut feeling. It's not a knowledge claim.

See? We don't disagree at all. =)

As for the dlc, I really hope the whole civil war questline is expanded upon. The questline itself was ok, but when everyone just went their sepperate ways afterwards it was a major let down. The Thalmor don't behave any differently, and not just the Thalmor either, it seems like nothing I did during that quest had an effect on the game whatsoever. I would have expected all hell to break lose, if I side with the Stormcloaks and win the war for them, but nothing. Or do you guys think that it's simply not possible to include such reactions in the game, because the Stormcloaks ending might not be the cannon ending?

Considering the choices the player has to make, and the need to explain, for example
Spoiler
the victory of the Stormcloaks and the one of the Empire, the creation of the Black Star and the survivance of Azura's star
the canon ending will probably be... a Dragon break ! :D

It was fun 27 threads ago... now the same stuff gets repeated over and over again. I wonder why Bethesda chose to wait for the E3 to announce a simple expansion/DLC... Don't they have some bigger surprises or new games in the pipeline to announce and showcase?

Maybe it isn't that a "simple expansion/DLC."
Maybe it is huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This DLC would probably not be about the Vigilants as the producers were planning this before the release, they didn't think the players would take a liking to the Vigilants of Stendarr, I wiped them out cos they randomly attacked me in the middle of the street

Were you a fourth stage vampire because that will probably do it. I would like the DLC have something to do with the Vigilants of Stendarr.

One thing I'm wondering, is if crossbows are added, would they have their own skill tree? Or will Crossbows fall under "Archery"?

In Morrowind both used the same skill (as well as throwing weapons). although it should probably be renamed to "Marksman".

A list of things that I would like to see in this DLC would be.

- Heavy Stormcloak Armor
- Ralof as a follower (I'm on Xbox so I can't use the console)
- Barbers/Tattoo Parlor (Body tattoo options would be nice aswell)
- Horses that flee from danger
- Raident Civil war quests.

Random thought. I know people have mentioned the arrows on the back of character in the released photo, but I have not seen anything on the characters helmet.
Initially I thought it was an iron helmet, but it's not, and it has scratches on the top.
Just over anolyzing and impatiently waiting lol

I've already understood your point, believe me  but to me is still a "nonsense" being worried about something only on the basis of a picture and personal related conjectures,is that what i mean.

The Dlc is supposed to be about Snow Prince,Snow Elves and such things - or at least these are elements that are present for sure. And no one of us can knows if it will be settled in another era/land or if is directly correlated to the Skyrim main story or the civil war

Most of the rumours surrounding Skyrim proved to be true last year,so I`m fairly confident that the speculation concerning the scanned patch will be true also.I doubt the crossbows will be linked to the Snow Elf Prince though,I reckon they`ll just be a simple addition to the game. The reason I say that is,the main weapon of the Snow Elf Prince as told in the " fall of the snow prince " book - was a spear. The spear itself lies on top of the coffin where he was buried in Jolgeirr Barrow on the island of Solstheim. The two go hand in hand, you can`t have one without the other. So I`m fairly confident that spears and crossbows will feature in the first DLC.I hope so,as I can feel a spear and crossbow, vampire slayer build coming on

Give Nocturnal's, Azura's, Meridia's, Boethia, The Greybeards, and any other outfit that is not currently wearable in Skyrim on all platforms (without some form of modification to the game or console) as a purchasible DLC. Despite what others may say I would enjoy it and will be willing to buy it. Thank You for your time.

Benefits:

Vampires need strength but because there is no attributes, it should go to: weapon damage bonuses, blocking and brawling and with x % chance of knock back/down and more x % chance of staggering enemies.
Vampire agility: sprinting speed increase and jumping height x2,x3,x4.
Vampire durability: x% resistance to iron and x % resistance to steel.
Vampire frost: frost spells are either do more damage or cost less mana to use.
powers: ice form frost breath that drains life, become ethereal and drain life when enemies get too close, vampire lord form.

Weaknesses:

Weakness to fire and sun is already in there.
Weakness to holy ground and temple, take double damage if you get attacked there.
Weakness to silver (the undead is already weak to it) and cannot even wield silver weapons.
No resting bonuses outside of sleeping in a coffin.
unable to eat normal food or get benefits from it.
cannot get blessings from normal shrines.
Vampire lord form BURNS in the sun rather than be weakened by it.

I wonder if they will finally add in the "Helmets or hoods accually WORK" deal??O__o

Its been in every past TES game where if you wear a helmet that totally covers your face somehow they know it is already you, its a pain whenever I was a Vampire in MW,OB and now this game that if I wore a helmet that totally covers my face *enbony?* they somehow still know I am a vampire even if no skin or anythig that says I am on is showing-_- I mean if that glitch of putting a pot over their head work than why can't it work here?

Id love it if you say have a hood on that created shadow on ur face and you are wanted for stealing a sweetroll and a guard comes up to you and says that you look familer or something like that but can't tell if it is totally you or not unless if you stay to long

Vampires:They should go back to taking damage in the sun...its stupid that I only have my health and magic not restore I rather be taken damage like a real vampire and how they made it in Morrowind and Oblivion damnit! Also would like a 4th level, like a vampire lord creature thingy and THAN people would run scared and not talk to me but be able to still talk to people in 3rd level and they just make more comments to me

Just don't be a vampire. Be a Werewolf instead. Like me ;P until they do something about it. If they improved the vampires more then i would make a new character and start as one.

Oh, right, the leaked files! Has anyone confirmed whether these things are really going to be part of the dlc yet?
I'd like to find out more about the Falmer servants to be honest. It would be cool if we could finally talk to them and perhaps even help them escape. I felt bad when I had to leave them behind...
They'd probably have lots of interesting stories to tell, about the Falmer and maybe even about what happened between the Falmer and Dwemer.
