Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #27

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:02 pm

Oh, right, the leaked files! Has anyone confirmed whether these things are really going to be part of the dlc yet?
I'd like to find out more about the Falmer servants to be honest. It would be cool if we could finally talk to them and perhaps even help them escape. I felt bad when I had to leave them behind...
They'd probably have lots of interesting stories to tell, about the Falmer and maybe even about what happened between the Falmer and Dwemer.
Nobody have conifirmed it yet,But the question is,Why was it added in 1.5?

I don't know, I mean we have feeding animations, crossbows and snow elves. Seems pretty random to me.

Accidentally perhaps? Maybe it was cut-content that was mistakenly placed into the patch.

Or, maybe it was a way of keeping people placated and not flooding the forums with requests for DLC info, which obviously didn't work (if that even was their intention).

So, feel free to add the ones I have forgotten, as well as new ones, and new suggestions.
Nice compilation, thanks for that.

4. The Dream of the Thalmor.

Since the Thalmor wants to create a new Dawn Era, it has also been hypothetized that the DLC could revolve around the Thalmor. Maybe as a continuation of the Civil War.

I believe this is the most viable concept for a DLC, (pity for I don't like it) anyways the game jam is very promising and I'm hoping for a lot of those features to be added in future patches/DLCs.

it wont if they planned on doing things with them, they would have made their leader essential, whom i beat the [censored] out off

How do you know that was actually their leader?

Here are some thigns to think about that i have seen from other sites...

"It's not vampirism, the Dawnguard is probably in relation to the Nord tradition of associating life and freedom with the "dawn". This DLC will most likely deal with fighting off a Thalmor invasion of Skyrim, since it was definitely set up for it no matter which side you choose in the civil war. This will be an outstanding addition to the story! Just my guess anyway." - Crf250r21

"Alright everyone who plays this game go to drakotilx mansion by morthal and break in its abandoned so dont worry and kill the drauger inside and loot his body you find a book call reveal of the falmer. It is a long book so skip to page 13 and read until page 15 it says that the snow elf prince traded his people for power a stone called dawnstar. It glowed his eyes a orange color that allowed control people but then turned a clear blue and dried thus the eye of the falmer from thieves guild mission. So his eyes are orange thus saying the same thing for him and possible control huminoid from oblivion so maybe this is the story line i dont know so take a look for yourself" - ginger66.89

It was fun 27 threads ago... now the same stuff gets repeated over and over again. I wonder why Bethesda chose to wait for the E3 to announce a simple expansion/DLC... Don't they have some bigger surprises or new games in the pipeline to announce and showcase?

Well, there's the offchance that the Expansion is significant enough to warrant a spotlight at one of the world's largest gamin expos.

Just don't be a vampire. Be a Werewolf instead. Like me ;P until they do something about it. If they improved the vampires more then i would make a new character and start as one.

lol saddly my character is already a vampire but I plan to make another werewolf character sooner or later cuz it would be kinda odd to me for my wherewolf character to be at 100 for Illusion and nothing else XD

It would be nice to get a choice to join a counter guild to all the guild.
Like joining the Silver Hand, Something to go against the Thieves Guild (kind of a guard guild), be able to join Penitus Oculatus, a chance to join the Thalmor to a counter guild to the College and the Blades, a guild for vampires, a joinable Vigilantes of Stendar Guild and so on...
An overhaul to the existing guilds so that the Thieves Guild also worked in the smaller towns and so on. :bunny:

They should make a "lord of the flies" themed Dlc, when the main enemy is the darkness inside you, and your stuck on a island with 10 or so unique npc's where they slowly decent into primal madness, and it should be really dark and stuff :)

And half way into the DLC you can get rescued from the island but then one of the crazy npcs is all like "we have to go back" and after that the entire DLC makes no sense whatsoever.

I have had an idea for DLC that I've posted a few times in DLC threads, but never my own. I wanted to post it in a thread a give a little more detail to my idea, as well as see what other users think.

The idea: Forts!

You remember that cool old fort, that was full of bandits/necromancers/etc? And how you cleared it and thought "this would make a nice home for my character!"? Or maybe it was that cave full of draugr/skeletons/etc or even the forsworn/falmor. A place you thought would fit your character better than a silly old house.

Well my DLC idea would be to be able to clear out your desired location of all hostiles, and set up a "fort" or a base of some sort.

You could use an abandoned fort, rebuild it, and use it for _____ guild to house guild members and to grow a guild of your choice. Or you could turn it into a thriving forum for merchant exchanging and market stalls. Or you could live alone, with all your trophies... heavily guarded by locked doors, trap doors, secret passages, etc just like any other place you visit in Skyrim.

And you obviously would have to hire either the Imperials or Stormcloaks (or whatever faction you like) to come and rebuild or build onto your desired home. Clear out debris, water, dead bodies, and anything else you don't want in there. Or maybe you want to leave it in ruins? Your call...

This DLC idea could easily sink people's gold reserves and dwindle them back to nothing if they chose to really build up their home. You could furnish it like your own home, have guards (or guild members) patrol the area, have training dummies set up and so forth.

You could even use the materials such as iron ingots, ebony ingots, etc to make your structure a certain color and to add strength to the fort. It would be vulnerable to attacks depending on the location and how easily it is found. Add firewood to build fires, or charcoal to make a forge. Add in a few places to make potions, and you've got an apothecary. Want to raise cows/chickens/bunnies? Want to start your own skeever fighting ring? Want to torture trolls for no reason? Put them in your big steel cage!

This would be great for those who need a way to spend a ton of gold, as this DLC would cost quite a fortune in gold overtime. But depending on what you do, you would also make a fortune.

Possibilities:
-blacksmith
-apothecary
-necormancers guild
-imperial/stormcloak camp
-guild recruiting and training
-orc camp
-khajiit/argonian safe zone(or any race. to populate skyrim with more of these races, and to give them an area they feel comfortable living)
-hideout for loot
-Forsworn encampment
-Daedric/atronach forge
-general merchants area
-slave area
-thalmor embassy :(
-skooma dealer
-talos shrine (or any god/goddess)
-farm
-meadery
-vigilant guild
-werewolf sanctuary
-vampire sanctuary

anything really.

silly idea but it is something I would find fun. If I had Skyrim for the computer I would make a mod for this but I'm on xbox so I have to suggest it =p And you could only have one area. If you want to relocate you have to tear down the old and start from the ground up.

any useful constructive thoughts? if you don't like the idea... well I'd prefer a good reason

Yeah, I don't understand why Bethesda is holding off so long for the DLC. It sounds great, I'm really excited for the new terrain, since I didn't enjoy skyrim's that much. I hope it's more colorful too :D Skyrim lacked a lot of color compared to Oblivion. Can't wait to see the new items, quest ect... :D :tes:

Some people wonder why would there be any sort of invasions brought to skyrim with the dlc, because of skyrims terrain and creatures.
Well I decided it would be the easiest place to attack because barely anyone can defend it seeing as almost everyone in the game took an arrow to the knee........

Btw people dont take this as a serious suggestion, im only kidding

I think Skyrim could benefit from having more construction opportunities. Things like Great House strongholds in Morrowind or Raven Rock in Bloodmoon. Ideally, there would be actual quests associated with the construction. Things like hiring workers. Some crews might cost more, but provide unique architectural installations. Others might be cheaper, but take shortcuts which result in accidents. This might leave certain residents dead/injured or have an effect on the economy of your new settlement. Other things, like hiring guards, appointing a local judge/constable of with varying moral leanings, clearing out a local mine and selling it to a ore baron/gift it to an out of work miner's union. You should be able to choose between different shops and business licenses. Form a posse and take on local criminal elements that might otherwise disrupt the safety and operations of your town.

It should serve as a money sink, yes, but it should definitely offer a whole lot more than that as well.

Yes I agree with your added deatils Slyme.

Although the whole "accidents" from archietect shortcutting might be a bit too far for me. =p

but heck it sounds good. I just want to be able to turn an old broken fort into a thriving guild or whatever I want.

Kind of like the thieves guild after you get to doing certain... repetitive... missions. I like the whole storyline behind it too.

And it would help Skyrim's economy by giving people jobs, but also would increase the amount of bandits and bad guys. Or if you are a badguy, the gppd guys would be banging on your door trying to shut you down. Well, if they can find your secret lair. and get past the traps, thralls, and open all the gates. And figure out the right combination (like eagle, whale, snake turn pedestals). And not to mention my possible army of followers... ranging from undead to khajiit to orcs... you name it.

doesnt the werewolf sanctuary kinda already exist with the companions, though i will admitt i RP and i actually still use the wolf form after over 200 GPH and to add more to werewolves would be awsome, i would also like to see more done for the vampires too as i am hoping to create a vamp character in the near future, but its really lacking IMO for vamps because theres no guild or quests atleast none that i know of

i also like the idea with the forts because i have a huge amount of gold with nothing to really spend it on, i mean i already of all my gear that i want and use, its all already enchanted, i own all the available houses and all fully furnished with out that glitch all my maniquens are decked out with rare armor, all my weapons racks of full of rare armor i mean ive got a mother[censored]in butterfly in a charge AND that other bug that glows in a jar like a mother[censored]in boss chea...still lookin for the bee though. :ermm:

Edit - ONLYaUNCfan i agree, thats why i said it would be nice to add more because i would so use it
