Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #32

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:40 pm

ugh, so tired of Bethesda and Microsoft sitting under the proverbial tree. I guess I wouldn't turn down a nice big bag of money either.

Makes sense after spending all of their money on the MMO. How else are they going to fund TESVI?

The possible 'Hearthfire' DLC may be a holiday pack of some sort, after all, it is a homely sounding name, and the Daggerfall calendar has a maasive cluster of holidays during this month.
No I don't think it's going to be a holiday pack, studying Bethesda's previous works on dlc, it's going to be a full-fledge dlc pack like Dawnguard. I can't prove this, but it's most likely.

Daggerfall, which Skyrim is attempting to emulate, had holidays and seasons. With horseback riding reintroduced, and the GameJam announcing seasons, the idea of a DLC that introduces seasonal worldspace changes and holiday-based changes to NPCs and cities.

It would be like a super-charged version of the Gun Runner's Arsenal, in a sense.

haha ... like I said, not blaming them. Just wish that whole exclusive thing was done away with in general.

I'm expecting these DLC to include a new questline as well as new areas and/or features. I wouldn't be surprised if Hearthfire adds the seasons and build your own house features from the game jam in addition to some questline.

Build your own house would be sweet.. I'd build myself a few hunting shacks around Skyrim.

Seasons and holidays have never been in a core TES game since Daggerfall.

It was believed impossible to code; but, they found a way. To hell with quest packs for this one, something like this is more than goid enough on its own.

Sooooooooo............................
If they have dragon mounts, and horse armor, will there be dragon armor for the dragon you're riding?

At this point the DLC sounds Atrocious.
You get to ride your horse, put armor on him and cast spells, you get a spear and a flail, you get to ride a dragon, and you get a Skyrim version of the Twilight series.............

Well la-dee-blanking-daah. Pardon me while I puke.

I bet the new vampires will look a lot like the Twilight cast members....................... :swear:

if anything the first dlc will probably be just a couple of new quest in skyrim like the nine dlc from oblivion I suspect when we do get that expansion pact like shivering isles it would be the last one to send skyrim off with a bang!

I dont think they will release a DLC without a new landmass......after fallout new vegas gave new landmasses in all the DLCs, they have to know people will be very disappointed if dawnguard is just a mission pack.......weve explored everything in skyrim by now................we definetly need a new landmass to explore

Another person who has been lulled by other game companies to believe "DLC" means a rediculous amount of money for a few small features.

Bethesda DLCs are BIG

It may have all the features you say, but they will be nothing compared to the meat of the DLC.

If you have not seen it go look at shivering isles.

Also you seem to be suffering from false information, horse armor has not been mentioned by bethesda yet, and dragon mounts are just a hopeful guess about an ambiguous hacked document.

Im actually looking forward the Vampire's, even going to make a Vampire Hunter and everything. :)

I think Bethesda is genious, extend Vampires, and Magic, while still adding new armours, weapons, and powers to the game.

Even if the DLC is only 1/3 (I suspect it will be more like 2/3) of Shivering Isles, then i like it!

See here is something to remember guys. Back when Shivering isles was made, Bethesda was alot poorer, and had half the ammount of people they do now.

That means they can get more done now, and put more money into the DLC's. That could mean alot of big dlc's.

Gah, i need something to speculate about...

Bethesda already mentioned there will be new locations,

In light of the recent datamining does anyone have a better idea of where snow princes, crossbows, flying mounts, physics weapons, and vampire lords fit in?

I do hope the vampire players get something to expand their roleplay possibilities. I realise they havent had much in the past. But if they do that I hope they throw us wolf players at least the perk tree, even if it has no story to place it.

Hmm you think it would be possible to makethe thalmor more involved antagonists, whatever the story may be?

It's got to be the Thalmor in the second DLC..

Two major threats in the game that aren't really explored to a great deal, the Falmer and the Thalmor.

I truly believe the Dawnguard DLC will be about the ressurection of the Snow Prince and a Falmer invasion of the surface world.
The second DLC has to be about banishing the Thalmor from Skyrim.

and yet the writing is still atrocious ... Zing!

all in all I still love playing, farengaur's stupid cliche 'when I saw fetch, I mean' and all. I just hope the dlc offers something innovative like fonv did - I don't mind if you add new weapons and spells but at least place them in a neat new area with a compelling story.

Personally, I would be delighted if the DLC introduced seasonal changes. I loved that in the GameJam video and it would build on one of Skyrim's core strengths - the beauty of the game's landscape.

We need more realism!! Lets bring in getting hungry, thirsty, and needing sleep. I would love to eat the food, drink the drinks, and sleep in beds in the game with good enough reason.

I am excited and i mean we are getting 30 minute of gameplay o.o of dawnguard, what will they show us? think of it,30 minute of new skyrim stuff! Also from the stuff added in updates it seems in somway we awake,or someone awake the snow prince? or a vampire lord? it mentions a coffin puzzle,Then someone cutting their hand i think,a child crying, and then plenty of snow prince dialoge. i am excited whatever it is,And maybe those stuff that was added in updates arent the big thing in the dlc? but who knows.

Also i think and hope we are getting something about the thalmor in future DLC,Also like a part 2 of the main quest, and some guilds
