Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #32

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:59 pm

Everybody wants to kill some elves. In due time. We don't hate them enough yet for Bethesda to release that yet. The more we hate them the more fun it will be when they let us tear ass around Alinor.

We need more realism!! Lets bring in getting hungry, thirsty, and needing sleep. I would love to eat the food, drink the drinks, and sleep in beds in the game with good enough reason.
I wanted a hardcoe mode in a TES game since i played new vegas D: Hoped that it would be in skyrim,I would be so happy if they add it in the game! Good for roleplay

I thought it was pretty much a given that Dawnguard was about the Falmer?

The Snow Elf Prince. Yes. It could be about both. I personally suspect the Snow Elf Prince is a vampire. He died millenia ago. He was said to be the equal of 100 Nords warriors. The Nords respected him so much they gave him the highest Nordic burial they could. He has his own barrow and everything.

I think the new land mass is Solstheim. That's where he was buried if I'm not mistaken.

It is. Were discussing future DLC, beyond the future DLC.

People are obssessed with killing the Thalmor... and i don't blame them. Just talking to a Thalmor makes me want to rip there heads off... to bad im to low a level and would end up dead... Grr....

Personally, I would be delighted if the DLC introduced seasonal changes. I loved that in the GameJam video and it would build on one of Skyrim's core strengths - the beauty of the game's landscape.
I really like the idea about adding seasons and holidays to the game. If the cities and villages react accordingly with decorations and some small festivities, and a lot of new lines for the npcs, this could become quite interesting. It would bring some diversity, and you'd have to listen less to the same old lines the npcs keep on saying. Plus, holidays and quests go hand in hand!

Well, let's first see what Dawnguard brings, shall we? I'd better go back to my usual 'no expectations' state, so I can't be disappointed. Although, the Snow Prince hypothesis is quite nice ...

All the evidence of snow prince and vampire files, only points to one thing.

Dragon mounts.

If he is a vampire though, and did not die, where has he been all these years, and why did he not help his people? It's been 4000 years. Surely a proud leader belonging to a race that was once described as rivaling even the Altmer in sophistication, wouldn't exactly approve of the Falmer's current way of live? They are crawling about in the dirt, feeding travelers to insects.

Sealed inside his tomb.. A foolish young dunmer adventurer (the local Nords were aware of the old legend and were forbidden from going near the tomb) has just opened it and unleased the evil on Skyrim.

I DESPERATELY want this as well. Why can't it be like vampirism ? They have to fix this soon.

Well considering if it was in Solthsteim (DLC) and considering the GameJam included WereBears, there's a good possibility. I think Solthsteim might have a way to become a werewolf repeatedly anyway given it's history. I hope.

I don't know...
Thieves had broken into the tomb and stolen his helmet long before we (the player) got there, and all we found of those thieves later, were their skeletons frozen in ice, so they probably died many many years ago.
If thieves could get in and somehow free him without even noticing, why couldn't he free himself? Especially if Nord, who aren't fond of magic were guarding the barrow?

An intricate system that allowed the door to only open from the outside. Not using magic, but Nord craftmanship.

I encountered a werewolf very early on in the game. In a fort somewhere. I was so excited because I thought I could catch the disease just from letting it attack me, about 10 minutes later I realised it wasn't working and killed it.

Some of the hacked files have to do with coffin animations, AND A COFFIN PUZZLE. I think it's pretty obvious what this means. He's been sealed away for millenia. And from what we've seen of Skyrim Barrows, it's going to be a long dungeon with lots of puzzles. He's probably sealed away pretty tight. We might need a dragonclaw relic to get through as well.

People want to see the Thalmor. Some people want to see vampires. Some people want to kill them both.

Bethesda, what about the manipulative power-hungry pawn-moving blood-svcking Daedric cult of vampires pulling the strings of the Empire? I am sure they would lay low until they can take out the Thalmor. It would be a good DLC idea to fight both of these forces. Instead of making vampire little blood-svcking cave-dwelling baddies, improve the magnitude of their threat. It's hard to think the vampires we encoutnered in Skyrim are of the same bloodline of a tribe known to manipulate politicians.

With the Thalmor threatening the Empire, it would be interesting to see these two forces collide in clandestine warfare. The Thalmor trying to throw the world back into the Dawn Era. The Order vampires trying to hold them back so they can take over the Empire, and the player trying to kill them both. Or join one of them. But it won't happen, since Bethesda do not follow their own lore.

So the burrial site we've been to was a fake and he was actually burried elsewhere? That's a pretty interesting idea, even if I don't really believe it. It's not a bad idea, it really isn't, it just seems a bit farfetched. Or maybe not farfetched, but a bit too forced for my taste. It's the kind of thing someone who's in desperate need of an antagonist would do. If you can't think of something original, bring someone who was badass back from the dead and give him even more power (in this case vampirism).
