Well, in the Gamejam video we did see that spears were being used, I assume this could work. It would hopefully also be done in a arena-esque style (á la Oblivion) and on that note I'd also love to see the arena return from Oblivion, it was honestly one of my favourite parts of the game (though I did play Oblivion after Skyrim so it may merely be because it was something different).

Jousting sounds more like it'd be a Cyrodilic thing to me.

Just thought I'd clarify some lore stuff for the people asking about the dwemer's dissapearance and vampire backstory.

The dissapearance of the dwemer has basically been solved. They tried to create a god out of mortal materials, and in turn make themselves gods. This breaks the basic laws of the TES universe because you can't "turn the profane into the divine". Makes you wonder if Talos was ever REALLY human eh? As a result, they either anti-created themselves or were exterminated by Azura, as even the daedra feared them. Michael Kirkbride also hinted that he and the people at Bethesda will likely never show us the dwemer because they should stay a mystery.

Someone also mentioned how it would be difficult to give vampires a backstory because they're barely mentioned outside of background lore. A valid point but keep in mind that the same is often true for the subjects of TES' expansions. Sheogorath was barely in oblivion less than vampires were, yet they made an entire questline that expanded his lore. I have no doubt that however vampires are involved in this game, they'll be written in well.

Vampires were just baddies in the game that people could kill off and possibly get infected. They offered no substance for the many people. While I am not one of those people, I can agree that they've been shunned from the spotlight. Werewolves were the same thing in Daggerfall. Yet they got an entire expansion devoted to them and Hircine. Vampires should at least have good quests and stories revolving them. Simple things like getting to meet the first vampire; Lamae Beolfag and doing vampire-related quests( I admit, with the children crying animation/sound I wished for a kidnapping children quest. There was a holiday devoted to a night where countless children were snatched from their homes by vampires in the Elder Scrolls.) And more meaningful quests that would indeed provide a positive shift from saving a town from a vampire conspiracy to a larger deal.

Oblivion failed with some of the vampire lore. There was a clan, a largely political one who go behind the scenes. A more subtle organization much like the Thalmor, but less inquisitorial and public. There should of been quests relating to them and the Oblivion crisis, such as their plot to secure more power while the nobles and politicians of the High Council are distracted with the Oblivion crisis. The only thing we got similar to that quest was when Janus Hassildor, reported vampire count, sent us on an errand to wipe out a group of enroaching vampires that sprung up on a cavern nearby while also killing off a group of vampire hunters.

I am content with the Vamps we get but i just want to be able to have a Guild or something dedicated to them (like MW) so that i can have a ton of allies who are vamps

So I just got news of the vampire lords being in the dlc and if it is true then my hype is out the roof! I think bethesda maybe focusing on vampires because they did a werewolf specific dlc already with bloodmoon for morrowind. So dawnguard may very well be a vampire version of bloodmoon. We will see in a little over a week!

if anything the first dlc will probably be just a couple of new quest in skyrim like the nine dlc from oblivion I suspect when we do get that expansion pact like shivering isles it would be the last one to send skyrim off with a bang!

Knights of the nine was great from start to finish though, if we get something like that it would be great!

I agree it was a great dlc but compared to shivering isles it doesn't even come close.all I'm saying is don't expect the heavy hitters so early in skyrims life span.

I was thinking that since there's apparently snow elves in it, who evolved (or devolved) into falmer so aren't around anymore, you don't think we'll be going back in time or something lame like that do you?

Not true, i quote from Todd Howard, when asked about Skyrim DLC, "We have high ambitions for DLC in Skyrim. They won't be quite as big as Shivering Isles, but Will be larger then the DLC in Fallout 3. We will also have numerous DLC's like what we did with Fallout".

So i would expect a new land, new armours, weapons, and game changing things. With a whole new storyline and lots of side quest.

Yeah, High Rock is inspired by the warring states and tribes of western Europe. They'd definitely joust. I wonder what a game in High Rock would be like? It's probably changed since Arena and Daggerfall.

This is total speculation, but I think this dlc will deal with Molag Bal. Hear me out. The main connection between vampires and snow elves is Molag Bal. Molag Bal created vampires as an insult to life, and he's also the lord of slavery. The falmer were slaves to the dwemer. Maybe the snow prince made a deal with Molag Bal to return as a vampire, or maybe he's defying Molag Bal in some way and he's unleashing powerful vampires upon the world, or some combination of the two. Either way, I think the Elder Scroll seen in the files will be used to somehow change the fate of the falmer, or perhaps fight off the bloodmatron Lamae Beolfag.

Just wild speculation, but this is just what I've pieced together. What do you guys think of that idea?

So this confirms that there will be vampire lords in the DLC, and that the elder scrolls are somehow related. Awesome

Considering that there are a lot of news about ESO right now, a Molag Bal connection isn't impossible... :)
