Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #34

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:29 am

I REALLY hope this vampire lord stuff actually has some basis in lore, and that all of this isn't just something they shoehorned in because they thought it "sounded cool." We'll see.
Well, that is the basis of TES lore. If something is interesting, it is right. 'Canon' doesn't matter in The Elder Scrolls.

I'm 99% sure it's Molag Bal, the realm looked like Cold Harbour and the alters and such in the vampire lair looked like the shrine to Molag bal in [REDACTED]
Aargh! Spoilers! Haven't done Molag's quest.

So has it been confirmed that the 360 only gets this for the first 30 days then it will be released to the PS3 and PC?

if only Sony would stop being cheap and pay for exclusive rights every now and then.

When the Dovahkiin is walking fowards as the sun dies,
you can see Dragonsreach in the background, over his
left shoulder. Obviously Whiterun is an important focal
point for the 'eternal night' thingy.

I think that war axe is a new weapon. I reckon it's silver and we'll get silver smithing.

To me, it's more ridiculous that it can fly. It's head is almost bigger than it's wings.

Also screw better with Kinect. Nothing is better with Kinect.

My thoughts exactly. Skyrim with Kinect is nothing compared with Skyrim with mods (including mods that do exactly what Skyrim Kinect does :P).

I keep being puzzled.

First, those vampires ... well, don't look like the average TES vampire. I may be wrong, but so far, vampires had nothing to do with bats in TES.

So maybe they are some kind of "werebats" or "wereimps" servicing Namira. Moreover, in Oblivion, Namira gave the player a spell called "Namira's shroud" used to extinguish the light brought by priests of Arkay to a dark Ayleid ruin... And it seems that the "werebats" want to extinguish light at a much, much larger scale. Yet to substantiate this, Namira is sometimes portrayed http://images.uesp.net/a/a9/OB-Img-ShrineofNamira.JPG.

Another hypothesis I heard is that the strange deathly realm shown in the trailer could be the Soul Cairn, which is some independant territory of Oblivion, outside the jurisdiction of the various Princes, and ruled by some unknown "race", the members of which call themselves "the Ideal Masters". Could those, err vampires, be in fact the Ideal Masters?

Also, could these beasts be... Morpho?d Daedra?

Now more than ever, I hope that we'll finally be able to interact with bats, and that we'll see the axe called "http://uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Wings_of_the_Queen_of_Bats".

That axe was unfortunately never in game. Maybe it had something to do with Namiria in Morrowind which we never saw.

Either way I'm happy. Molag Bal may be in the DLC too. Maybe the two princes are connected.

Chronicler of Legends hypothetized in another thread that it could be a Gargoyle. Now that I see http://uesp.net/wiki/File:DaggerfallGargoyle.gif, it looks like a good hypothesis. Maybe we'll be able to become something related to a Gargoyle?

So we are going back time to battle vampires. Cool.

I wish Beth goes back in time and not sign the contract with MS having the Xbox have the first 30 days and other follow suit.

Least we know in advance this DLC wreck their Xboxes.
