I think more than 500 people will recieve the beta. I know they need it to be tested fairly thouroghly and quickly.

Who they think. What has that got to do with anything?

Plus they need to also make sure that enough people will be reporting problems to them, maybe out of those 500, 300 might get it and not report a single thing

Because if a computer gives out the codes, it might give a lot to people who just signed up to get the DLC for free. They might be picking it by hand to have a better chance at getting more people who send reports.

It has a lot to do with who gets the Beta and who doesn't.

People who have signed up that are not active on the forums, should not get in. I doubt those people would report a single bug.

Thats were my "picking by hand" idea comes to mind. I think they might be looking at our profiles to see who they think will be reporting stuff. It would explain why they want your email connected to your forum profile.

If they are hand picking them, they'd be wise to check the forums.

Well those who signed up for free is basically everyone who signed up after the beta was announced.

Yes and no. What he means is all they did was sign up for free DLC, they didn't sign up to bug test.

It's just as easy for some one who is active on the forums to decide to just use the beta instead of reporting bugs as some one who isn't. High post count doesn't dictate responsibility.

Yet one could argue that measurement is faulty.
If someone's signed up for the beta, to beta test.
They're willing to report bugs and whatnot.
The fact that they don't join in lore debates shouldn't be held against them however.
Although, if people haven't even bothered too post once, then aye; don't bother with those numpties.

I signed up onforums after the beta was announced, I thought it would be cool to weed out bugs in my favorite game, plus, it reminded me there are forums, now that I actually signed up I'll be active often :P

I didn't know there was an official Skyrim forum, lol. I do know that I have been a Bethesda player as long as I have had an xbox, though. Morrowind, Fallout 3, Oblivion, New Vegas, Wet, Skyrim, and one of their Terminator games. So please don't assume that all of us low-ranked people are here for free DLC; I, for one, want to make the DLC as smooth for other people as I would want it for myself.

That's what I am thinking about.

If they didn't bother to post and join in the discussion even just a bit, (Skyrim is my first game, I know little of TES lore, yet I joined this forum) chances are they won't take time to report bugs unless the bug does something extreme like break their save.

I saw it on Kotaku. I only read the title. I signed up, and then after I figured out you would get it for free.

Does anybody know how they will select their beautiful beta testers?
I think they are choosing by who they think will be best for testing EVERYTHING in the beta.

I've never posted on the fourms before, (didn't even know about them) but I would post bugs. I want to get rid of any of the possible dlc bugs so other people don't have to deal with them.

It would be nice to get into the beta, having a hand in making the DLC better. Also the hype level is over 9000!!!!

I'm hoping too, if my friend gets a Beta, he is just getting a free DLC...thats all he cares about. He only signed up and made an account here just for that reason

If it was based off of seniority, then everyone would be screwed but the one percent. It's not going to be random, because random would imply everyone has a chance. The people who signed up, who met some unforeseen requirements bethesda has (i.e., the questionnaire), will be picked.
