Dawnguard DLC location Merged Similar Topics

I'm quietly hoping that it takes place in a twisted version of Skyrim (somewhat like the Golden World/Dark World in Zelda).

If Molag Bal is indeed the antagonist then we may see his plane Coldharbour:

"Coldharbour, the immense realm of Molag Bal, is also one of the most inhospitable realms, consisting only of charnel houses and vast slave pens. Any mortal found here is captured and placed in one or the other. It resembles Nirn except colder, darker and more beaten and violent; according to some a premonition of the future of Nirn itself."

If this is true then we effectively get to explore the whole of Skyrim again but this time a whole lot darker and twisted.
That would be pretty cool, but it doesn't account for where the new castles would be?

To me, it looks like Roscrea (North of Solitude) for the landmass, and the Oblivion realm of Coldharbour (Molag Bal's realm).

I say Coldharbour kind of out of left field though. The stuff we see doesn't really seem like it would be Coldharbour as per the descriptions from in game texts (On Oblivion and The Gates of Oblivion), still, given the Molag Bal Effigy, and his tie-in with Vampires, it's seems like the most likely scenario.

Morrowind is the location or near Morrowind. Note, this was released 31 one days ago. And we just received true word on what Dawnguard is about. This person is onto something.

...Umm...Snow Elves will return as enemies? They are only seen in Skyrim, and they are enemies. This is obviously false, or written by someone that knows nothing about Skyrim.

Yeah, it's fake because they pretty much pinpointed crossbows, Dawnguard vampire faction and a joinable vampire clan weeks before it was officially announced.

But some of it may be fake.

There were those snow elf game files that people found a while back along with the crossbows, so I could see it happening. The Falmer might also be interested in blocking out the sun, since they excel in the dark and there are reports that they may be planning an invasion of the surface soon.

At http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PjBSicSVqI&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLyWTbcjzNsNH8A8aFwy73VQ&t=54s that's totally a Falmer. They wouldn't throw it i the trailer for no reason.

I am disappointed with this DLC, the one thing I expect now is a new location not just some trees replaced by a castle.

Good job ill see the 360 uses use it first so I can see why not to get it lol.

Its in High Rock i think, because when the Elder Scroll is read, it highlights a map and has 2 symbols.
The left symbol is Markarth and the other Solitude. Taking this into account, several land features such as the marsh can be seen.
This imo means that there with be a gate towards High Rock

Yeah, I know :(

The vampire castle looks as if it is in the far north of Skyrim/Tamriel. Sea of Ghosts perhaps? And as others have already mentioned the Dawnguard could be located in Riften but I find it hard to believe that Beth would just dump two new castles into the middle of Skyrim... Not that I'd mind that.

Yes, a lot of it is based on the information from the 1.6 patch, but to my eyes there is no doubt that it is definitely not written by someone 'in the know.' As it were.

I noticed that at the end where the sun gets blackened the location is whiterun. On the left you see Dragonsreach while on the right you see a part of High Hrothgar

Yup. Methinks Dragonsreach is significant to the whole 'blot-out-Magnus' idea.

I kinda doubt it will be that far away from skyrim the Elder Scroll map only showed Markarth and Solitude.
I think it probably showed the Dawnguard castle and the vampire lair. It doesn't match up with Markarth and Solitude. I just compared the maps. The water doesn't match up and I doubt the top sign is for Solitude.

I think that the count from skingrad has taken over all the vamps and become a vampire lord thingy. skingrad maybe?
Doubt it the Count of Skingrad never really embraced his vaparism (ill take that back initally when he contracted vamparism he did) unless he went rouge of his belief due to (Oblivion Spoiler)
Spoiler
The death of his wife
which is possible but I doubt it

In the Trailer anolysis I saw this part and now im interested where this place could be.
edit: mes2370 made it clear that this place is definately Markath-Solitude, thx ^.=.^

Ok, new question: Why should the new dlc take place at this location, or why should they show us this location in the trailer?

The symbols seem to be Markarth (bottom left) and Solitude (top right)
What I noticed was a strange squiggly symbols in between then near the mountains.

My guess is that there will be a small extension to the map, or a mountain pass to an area

Indeed the left symbol looks like Markath but if you look at the right symbol then you will see that it has no reference to Solitude. Btw, if you look closer to the Skyrim Map you will see that this cant be Reach cus the Rivers are looking different and the coastline too.

It just doesnt fit to the Skyrim map shape

edit: Solitude isnt landlocked so it cant be Solitude

If you rotate you map so it is looking westward instead of northward, then move over so Markath is at the bottom and Solitude is at the top.. then you will see where the map is depicting

The symbol in the top right still just looks like the Solitude wolf's head to me.

so i just looke at the "paper" map, and if you have it at the angle the shot seems to so show, then there does seem to be some accuracies... the river is mostly right, except there seems to be another bit of river heading east just north of markath... and the bit trailing east from just below solitude which forks a little is actually the marshlands. Also near the top centre of the picture there seems to be a a symbole not far west of where i believe Deep Folk Crossing is.

Markarth and Solitude. I distorted the Skyrim map to better fit the shape of the video map as the map from the trailer is not an exact representation. Maybe it was distorted so as not to be too obvious that it was Markarth and Solitude.
