Dawnguard June 26 10-20 hours

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:03 am

A DLC with 20 hours should have taken like 3 months. SI took about the same time and look how much content it had.
SI had a larger price. That, and SI was a more pre-planned project, while Dawnguard was conceived from the writers' ideas and gamejam material coming together in a more sporadic way.

Perhaps 10-20 hours if you just do the main Dawnguard quest from start to finish.

However, clearly there are features of the DLC that significantly impact your experience in the rest of the game world. So it's going to enhance the gameplay for the complete playthrough.

In my case, I've played well over 500 hours and still have not touched the Dark Brotherhood, Imperial Legion or Bard's College questlines and have not finished the Thieves' Guild or College of Winterhold.

Obviously. Who isn't going on a rampage as a vampire lord in the vanilla world?

Well, what most people dont see is that they can make it as short a DLC as they want, or as long as they want. Just because something is doesnt mean it must be.

They said Skyrim was 300 hours.. My Skyrim was like 130 hours and i did like everything.. Its 300 hours to read every book very slowly and if you haven't figured out about the warp system and that you can run in the game..

To me it is worth 10 dollars at that.. Probably less.. What I see from other developers is them giving out this size DLC for free..

You rush too much I guess. I'm almost at 700 hours now and still discovering new things.

And I'm excited to see what kind of new quest content modders will come up with that incorporates the new factions and abilities.

so that means july the 26th for PC and PS3?

In fact, Microsoft (has yet again) made a deal with Bethesda to have it released thirty days earlier (I'm just glad it's not fully exclusive) than PS3 (not sure about PC though). So be expecting it in July.

Who exactly released 10-20 hours of DLC for free? Are you forgetting Bethesda has already released free content. GTFO

You can't be both. That was clearly stated. You can take it for granted that it includes the ring of hircine.

Hm, on second thought, maybe it isn't so good. They estimated the main quest to be 25-30 hours, and that only takes 10 if you only do the main quest

You know, considering alot of PC gamers run Skyrim on Windows, and Microsoft makes Windows, it's a bit odd that Windows users aren't included in that timed release. Then again Skyrim runs on Steam and not Game For Windows Live, so that may be the issue.

Hi there 4Skyrim!

20 hours is not huge? Are you crazy?

Some $60 singleplayer games that come out today are not even 20 hours.

No, it is not huge, though it's priced as if it is. Skyrim is hundreds of hours worth of gameplay. Dawnguard costs 1/3 of the original price tag and we do not get 1/3 of Skyrim's gameplay hours, not even close. And let us consder most of the tech, i. e., the engine, is already in place and thus the developments costs were severely cut. Still, we are beeing charged for 1/3 of the original price tag. There was a moment in that G4TV interview when Todd's self-consciousness about the steep price was quite evident. He obviously felt the need to imply future DLC packs will be cheaper.

I've thought about that too, but you're probably right on the steam vs windows live.

To be honest, I'd rather pay Bethesda to continue to update the game with patches, expansions, etc. than have it released and just go dead. These patches that update the game and add new content are free, so that's made up for whenever dlc or expansions are released... I would assume atleast. Either way, I have no issue paying for quality content.

It depends what system you playing it for because I know if u play 360 once you get rid of your werewolf power you can't be a werewolf nomore so there would be no reason for you to level up that perk tree

$20 USD so 14.75? Euro

Tell this Betheseda or the entire entertaiment industrie. They don't care about this, if a dlc costs 20$, usually it costs in europe 20€. It is also so, with other things like laptops, Smartphones and so one.

They like to soack us.

Sure. But what is the rationale behind the price tag, consideing the original costs 60$? You get no new landmass, aside from the barren over-iluminated purplish land, you get 10 to 20 hours worth of gameplay, and you charge 33% of the original price, while most of the tech development costs have already been covered? This is not reasonable.

This is very true but there appears to be a good range of new things like enemies, weapons and abilities in Dawnguard.
