I was super stoked when I seen on Xbox live that Dawnguard came out yesterday! But then I got to reading reviews and so on......and everyone basically said it svcks! Your towns get completely wiped out, for the most part! The sun goes away for good! You can no longer be a werewolf if you previously were! My big thing is that the vampires kill almost EVERYONE in your towns, as soon as you download the [censored]! So I am postponing buying this DLC! Maybe someone can make me change my mind? I am a Skyrim fanatic, it's pretty much my favorite game, but I am so disappointed in this, from all the reviews I've read!

I wouldn't recommend it. The only good things that came out of it for me was a new type of bow and ammunition for it. Overall the castle lacks so much for the Dawnguard and the followers from it aren't any better than someone you can hire from an inn. For how long they worked on it, the DLC really was shi*. I'm not at all impressed.

The major problem of comments about whole towns being wiped out are mainly due to starting Dawnguard on a level 60+ character, as the spawned vampires are inline with your character level and the guards can not handle them at such a high level.

I have a level 52 character and the first attack I experienced in Riften only took out one guard befroe the vampires were killed, so I think at level 10 you will be fine.

I would NOT get it right now. What ever anyone else says ere, the vamp attacks begin immediately when you download, and right now, even the weakest vamps can kill whole towns as their masters and nightstalker ranks, I dont care what level you are. I created one character, never started DG, and by the time he was level 7 the towns of Riverwood, Riften, Shors stone, Dawnstar were nearly wiped out. The caravan that stays outside Dawnstar got wiped out as well, so on top of losing that merchant, I lost the follower as well. DG is a great DLC, but the vamp attacks ruin it completely.

I'm not sure who you're talking to, but some people were beta testers.

This. I've played it through four times now.

I haven't had anyone die from vampire attacks

You decide to block out the sun if you want, and it's only for 12 hours

Aela will make you a Wearwolf again.(this was added in the dlc)

But seriously, I wouldn't listen to godfist. I've had so much fun on this dlc and I have played nonstop since the beta, as I was a tester, with about 5 or 6 characters including pretty much all lvls, and I HAVEN'T HAD ANY NPC'S DIE YET.

Well I have a level 52 character which is my main file, so it's harder the higher level you are? @Karniest. So at level 7 your towns got wiped out? @godfist. What's the difference if I get it now or in a month or so? You think they are going to fix it? Probably not, it's already been released....well they could and should. They should have never made this a possibility to actually happen in the DLC.......it svcks and when I get a comment saying don't get it, it svcks, your towns do get wiped out, makes me iffy about it again? Ugh!

Well I don't have time to go and check because I don't remember! Not trying to be rude here, just a little funny and sarcastic! Lol. @Zexis. And I was talking to BoSStealthAgent....@Crusader. And wow....it censored sh a t......lol.

Yes it did.

The Forum censors are pretty sensitive.

But just so you know in the future, bypassing the Forum filters by inserting spaces and/or numbers or other such items into the words so that the Forum filters don't pick it up is a pretty severe violation of the Forum rules.

The Mods will ban/issue warnings for it.

In case you haven't read them yet, here's a link to the Forum rules: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/

I suggest you read then pretty soon.

I loved it the there isn't really many main quest, but couple of them are VERY long and send you to some cool places.
Soul Cairn is pretty desolated for most part not much there but still very cool. Serena is one of few NPC in game I can stand.

I know people have reported having entire towns wiped out, but I've never had it happen to me.
Same, but then again I sided with the Vamps.

I am on my 7th time through. First time was at level 43 and played the dawnguard side. I never played the vampire side, sorry vampire lovers, and I do not intend to. Again with another character at level 20, again with another at level 32, etc. Each time was different because of my level. The higher level I was, the harder it was even at apprentice. The world encounters, vampire attacks, were also different. The lower the level, the less harder they were and they were fewer in number. When starting a new character, the "attakcs" did not even start until level 10 because that is the level that triggers the dlc.

Everybody plays different. There are no 2 styles the same. The world encounters were different, even if I died and had to continue from an eairler save. Everybodies experience is different. Each one of my own characters experience was different.

Until you actually play Dawnguard, you do not know what is going to happen in your given situation or playstyle.

But I will tell you this. I simply loved almost everything about it. I did not like the bug/glitches/quirks that all of us testers experienced. Some more than others. But Dawnguard to me is a great addition to Skyrim and worth every penny. As they say. Do not judge a book by it cover. In this case, play it for yourself, not for your friend, neighbor, etc. But yourself. See for yourself. Then judge. It is kind of hard to judge something you only read about and never experienced.

I love Skyrim also. I love the dlc. I am not going to judge something until I have tried it at several different levels.

Do your towns really get wiped out? And I have another question, I just made an account on here a few minutes ago, and it won't let me upload a photo? But anywho.....I love Skyrim and I really want Dawnguard, but I don't want my file to get dominated, lol. Will it do it to all files on the hard drive as well? Cause I read that the vampires kill people in the towns even when the system is off too!
The vampire attacks can ruin the game. There is a lot of good new contnet. Not quite as many hand to hand wepons as I would have liked, but overall a good dlc. However, I feel Bethesda didn't think about how the vamp story would affect future dlc.Having vampires and vampires only attacking towns is strange. Ancient dragons could wipe out townsfolk easily which was annoyig, but it seems townsfolk can die without you even being in the city. It's annoying because you can't stop it at all.

I think I'm going to hold off on getting Dawnguard for a while. I rather not my towns get wiped out or kill anyone for that matter, I didn't put 200+ hours in for nothing, haha. But I'm still interested and will get it soon enough! Could always use another hard drive or something, which is what I'll end up doing. Just to 100 percent guarantee nothing gets messed up:)

makes no difference who u side with...same outcome whatever u do...highlight was meeting Jiub again... its also very short... took me 6 hours... all quests... all achies... i did enjoy it along the way though... and still am... killing off entire towns :) . More like KoTn than shivering isles... i feel let down to be honest. Or maybe i just expect a higher standard than everyone else
