Dawnguard Trailer Discussion v.2

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:42 pm

They are more or less like the Vigilantes of Stendarr and the Silver Hand. Bad people claiming to be good just because they hunt vampires. But they are extremely prejudice, torture people(just check out the dead werewolf bodies in both human and beast form, and torture tools in their lairs and even a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Physicalities_of_Werewolves on dissecting people!). Not to mention, hypocrites. I.E, "we serve the god of mercy but we have none to spare. Walk in the light or we will forcibly drag you to it".

In the end, it is all a point of view.
Well. Vampires were born of [censored] of an innocent woman. And we know nothing about the Dawnguard

We don't really know anything about the Dawnguard's practices yet. Personally, I would say that anyone who kills vampires is the good guys. But of course, a vampire would look at it differently.

My thoughts:
The "vampire realm" resembles Cold Harbour (Molag Bal's realm, the daedric prince who created the first vampire, makes sense that it would be HIS realm of all realms), a place which heavily resembles the mortal realm but is twisted and downright depressing.
The Alter seen in the trailer STRONGLY resembles the Alter in the "House of horrors" quest in Markarth, same style, same demon head atop it and the same style of blood. This alter of course belongs to Molag Bal
And last but not least:
All we need now are spears.

In Molag Bal's realm, the sky is on fire. The realm in the trailer had a dark, clouded sky.

Well, look at Janus Hassildor or Sybille Stentor. Both are vampires, both feed on people. Yet you can't really count them in the "evil" group, can you?

But of course, a vampire would look at it differently.
True. Of course, the vampires have their own point of view. The vampire lord obviously sees the sun as evil(check sig). And I recall Farkas talking bad about the werewolf hunters too.

"Silver Hand?"

"Bad people who don't like werewolves."-Farkas.

Yeah it would. My main character is a Werewolf. Though he is siding with Dawnguard. Some will side with the Vampires.

I still don't like this dichotomy idea. Why can't my Vampire Lord betray his superiors and take the Elder Scroll and its power for himself, unless that character is a human persona of Molag Bal? Why can't my human wipe out both of them because he's a blood-starved madman?

It's the same problem I had with the Civil War questline. Why couldn't I be a rebel who dreamed of a free Skyrim but cut Ulfric's throat or sold him out to the Imperials because I wanted power?

The "Neither" side of things should never exclusively be "don't get involved," there should be an option to engage both of them.

The map in the trailer.. the bottom left red icon is Markarth and the top right one is Solitude.

As for the Vampire/Werewolf thing. I wouldn't mind if you could only be one or the other as long as they fix the horrendous bugs that occur when becoming a Vampire after curing yourself of being a Werewolf.

This is what I was talking about in another thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1377762-choices-and-paths/page__p__20856289#entry20856289. There needs to be levels of gray areas as well. Why can't I disobey Astrid because I believe in the word of the Night Mother? Why can't I report that thieves guild member for trying to get someone to steal to get inside the thieves guild, which would bring upon the conspiracy in the government of Riften?

Why can't I agree with Ancano in the mage's guild about the eye of magnus?

Where are the grey areas?

But...I don't like good guys. :(

Rashir Nashida my dark elf main character won't be able to do anything....rawr.

pretend that you must make an alliance with dawnguard to rid of vampires. Just once, then after that you will become enemies again.

OT: can't wait for E3 details. Also, i wasn't to sure about crossbows and my ranger still probably won't use them, but they look sweet!

Yes, but the problem is present in Skyrim already. While it isn't fair to say that because Skyrim is X, Dawngaurd will be X, history is an indicator of future behavior.

Here's hoping that there is more complexity to this than just one, the other, or not involved in the story at all.

No evidence the Vigilantes of Stendarr behave like the Silver Hand.

They'd do that in a heartbeat if they were the publishers.
They are the publishers.

THIS!
By the time Bethesda releases this for PC it will probably go on the Halloween sale or winter sale.

I think the poster meant "They(as in EA)'d do that in a heartbeat if they (EA again) were the publishers."

What if that Vampire Lord thing gives you the option of curing yourself to become a vampire or if you choose to stay a Werewolf he enhances your power?

That would be pretty dope, since I'm a child of darkness… I kind of want to bring an end to the tyranny of the sun.

I hope there is a new landmass...and I see people throwing around the idea of a vamrire realm (molog bal)...if that was the case, I could see siding with the dawnguard and then when you're in the realm, everything is an enemy so it works...................but what if you sided with the vampires (something I wouldnt do cause I think vampires are lame and Im disappointed that this is about them...but I guess Ill jus have fun killing them).........when you are in the realm it would seem that everything is friend so wouldnt be as exciting for those who chose that side, who would they fight?....idk hope we get a landmass tho

At 0:51, that new bow the player is using looks a bit like dragonbone...

Dragonbone weapons possibly?

No, but their dialogue and hatres for the unnatural tells us enough they will do anything to anyone.

So I'm hyped for this DLC the main concern I have is potential lore violation.

The other thing im worried about is the new vampire form being useless to me.
See I'm a mage and in the case of werewolf form it's a deathwish if I use it only a few hits and I die.

I really hope the new form increases all skills instead of it being anoying like werewolf form.

i assume one of the rewards for the DLC(If you side with the Vampires) is that it will be night all the time?
