Dawnguard Trailer Discussion v.2

And with the addition of crossbows, it would be nice to have a Dwarf race. I'd make a Tyrion.
Skyrim Dwarves/Dwemer aren't short like regular fantasy dwarves. They are just elves that enjoy growing long beards and working with technology.

It isn't a fact mate, those dragon skeletons are the dragons you killed being moved by the havoc engine, and the game re-enabling them when you enter an area. If you look around the forums you'll see numerous accounts of dragon skeletons fall out of the sky or hanging off of Whiterun's gate etc. The game doesn't render what isn't in its render distance, otherwise you'd be playing lag city, especially on 6+ year old hardware (Xbox).
Yes, it is a fact. They aren't hanging anywhere off gates or crap. They usually show up near cities or towns [or in cities and towns] or encampments. And even if that's not true. you can't explain random dead townspeople, guards etc.

Dawnguard are bad guys. They kill, torture and destroy vampires just because they are at the bottom of the food chain.
I think they kill, torture and destroy vampires because they are trying to bring the end of day, steal Elder Scrolls and they kill people... Just a thought (that makes more sense)

Seems like the leader has a Scottish tinge to his accent, especially when he says "they think they can stop us". And the guy at 0:49 has no arms, what the hell?

Quick thought. Is it just me or are the water graphics in the beginning of the trailer different from the ones in-game? Could they be including the water shaders from the Game Jam video? Or am I just imagining things?

I'm a bit underwhelmed personally. More vampires? I guess I should have expected this with the video Todd showed at DICE earlier in the year showing a lot of the content that will make an appearance in this DLC. Ultimately I won't judge Dawnguard until I can actually play it myself, whenever that happens on PC. That being said, not too thrilled from first impressions.

this right here...im actually dissapointed...Vampires....thats the best they could come up with for a DLC? ..all that Elder Scrolls lore...and we get Vampires...color me unimpressed...i'll probably still buy it, but im not expecting much.....im sorry but the flying Vampire Lords is just a dumb idea...its dumb....plain and simple.

if Vampires get a Flying Lord then Werewolfs better get a skill tree and the Hircine Totems need a buff....

I think the leader of the vampires might be the count from skingrad in oblivion. Vampires are immortal after all.
The Count of Skingrad wasn't evil. In fact I think he hated being a vampire.

I'm guessing they are the Volikhar, even they were supposed to live under frozen lakes and look physically different than other humans and Cyrodilic vampires.

I've been lurking the Beth forums since, eh, maybe September last year, but the Dawnguard trailer has finally pushed me to make an account. So, hi! xD

I've noticed a couple more things from the Game Jam have made it into Dawnguard, in addition to the obvious like the Vampire Lord; I'm pretty sure the new water shaders are present, and the undead flaming horse, too -- though it's been colour-swapped to a deep violet colour rather than red.
Taking a look at the dragon at 1:05, it appears to be a completely new variety; the head shape is different with a 'scoop' shape to the snout, what looks like a crest and long spines on the throat. Its fingers are different, as well.
(I can't post links yet? I have a blown-up screencap of the dragon.)

And please, please tell me I'm not the only one getting super-familiar (Cyrodiilic?) vibes from that castle at 0:43.
Someone mentioned a new cape, but the character at the start has a new circlet as well, a woven one. It's kind of odd how the Elder Scroll is slung over her back, though.
0:27: That's a Falmer dungeon.

Is it looking to anyone else that everything leaked from the game files (the DLC01/ stuff, including update 1.6) is present in this DLC? No surprise, really, but it looks like everything's more or less confirmed now.
I'm actually really excited to see more Snow Elves come E3 time. That, and I just rolled a Dunmer vampire.
I really, really hope this is coming out on a disk -- my PS3 doesn't have an internet connection, and I have no way of getting one for it. I'm still playing Skyrim version 1.0.50.00.

Has anyone noticed that the files found in patch 1.6.87.0.6 which suggest that there might be pouring and taking water from wayshrines can mean that we can use holy water against those ugly vampire creatures we saw on the trailer?

I have the same problem with My Xbox. Gstaff told us that there were no plans for a disc release. We will just have to wait for the GOTY edition friend

What I'm interested is how the snow elves stuff ties in with the vampire stuff. Will be interesting to see Bethesda's take on this. And I'm happy to see that the new finds in patch 1.6 WILL be in Dawnguard after all (crossbows, snow elves and the vampire stuff were found out about 2 months ago, the new patch shows evidence of verlet integration support... capes and cloaks, and house construction).

Wait. What? I didn't see anything that would pertain to house construction in the trailer.

If it is Molag Bal's realm, that'd be cool. We already saw the shivering Isles and Methrunes plane of Oblivion, visiting more Deadra realms would be awesome.
I believe it is Soul Cairn.

Ahh, that svcks. :/
We shall twiddle our thumbs and wait to buy the game a second time! >.>
I'm getting rather sick of this. I paid $200 for Skyrim, and now I have to buy it again, probably at $110, just to get the $60-or-so worth of DLC and the patches? Ridiculous.
If memory serves, didn't Shivering Isles have a disk for consoles?
--------

Anyway, I've still got the trailer open. In the reading-the-Elder-Scroll shot, there are butterflies and a tree with pink foliage. That, and that map directly afterward is of the Markarth-Solitude area, but it looks twisted.

I think they'll have. The one in trailer looks like a steel one. I'm also exited about the awesome war axe they have in the trailer.

Does anyone else think that Dawnguard castle looks freaking amazing?

Completely. I'm hoping modders will start using its textures and models to replace "this old castle" we find across Skyrim.

$200? :ooo:

I'm in Australia. Got the CE. Game goes for $80-$120 normally here anyway. xD
The size of that box when it turned up with the courier!

I'm hoping the same. $20 is a pretty decent pricetag for a large DLC/expansion, so it sounds exactly as it was described some months ago: Bigger than Fallout 3's DLCs, but smaller than the Isles or about that size.
Personally, I thought FO3's DLCs were way too small (I got GotY), and tore through them in about an hour each (except my favourite -- Point Lookout) and the Isles were a perfect size. Hopefully Bethesda is tending towards the latter.
Also, it does look like a lot of the Gamejam content is included.

That bow looked to be made of bone, possibly Dragon bone. Maybe they will introduce Dragonbone weapons.
