Dear Ice troll of the thousand steppes.

One time I used the first word of Ice Form so he'd fall down off a ledge, which killed him.

Why people gotta hate on the ice troll? He just trying to make himself a home and along comes some human and steps into his new territory.
No hate on Ice Troll.
Calm spell on Ice Troll.

Next time, run past him, make sure he keeps following you but don't let him catch you. Lead him to High Hrotgar. As soon as he reaches you, step inside.

Enjoy. ;)

Screw you. Seriously.

I just spent 1 hour getting to Ivarstead, climbing all of those damn stairs and then you killed me. I was brought back to my last autosave in whiterun. I lost 2 levels and 300 gold because of you.

Rot in hell ice troll of the thousand steppes, may you pay for all the non mages you have killed.

yeah happened to me too. I usually just try to run away from him. works well.

I go up on horseback, then charge past him as soon as he drops.

It doesn't sound like that allows you to read the emblem for the blessing you get when you read them all though. :tes:

The first time I attempted the climb a dragon attacked. I ran for dear life up until I got to the troll, and to my surprise they attacked eachother over me. The troll killed the dragon...

When I first did climb the steppes I got attacked by a dragon just shortly after engaging the troll. I was good at evading rather than blocking and found out that the dragon and troll attacked each other also. So I waited out the battle, troll won. The dragon was breathing ice rather than fire sadly. However the troll was hurt badly and me and Lydia had but a scratch on us so we killed it after a few minutes of combat.

However, the last time I was there i got wrecked by the troll, to low level and no dragon or Lydia to back me up. Mjoll helped me later in that game and killed it by herself :D

Lol I just figured out how to mod my 360 saves and started from the beginning with all shouts and no shout reload time. Everything, including THAT FREAKIN' TROLL, was blown over the mountain.

Why? You'd be faster on foot!

On a more serious note, 1st time I came there I didn't have as much problem with him because I already felt the pain of the ice troll upon arriving to Labyrinthian and learnt not to mess with them. :P
Also, 2 levels? Save more often. :P Still svcks to hear it man.

killed me the first time. sent me back to honingbrew meadery. good times.

Please give 360 a quick save button that doesnt involve waiting an hour! ive probably "waited" away 3 months in one falmer dungeon just to save between enemies.

It was one of the best moments when I always had to sneak or run past him, then coming back from the grey beards, capable of a full-blown FUS RO DAH. It's definitely a looooong way down...

He is easy one to avoid with sneaking or then just running away as fast as you can. Third way is not to use all of the the steps - just climb up to the mountain on the other side straight to the front of High Hrotgar.

I think the low level I ever beat an ice troll was level 5. A lot of running around, dodging in and out, and using potions and heal spells. Was pretty proud of myself.

Spoiler

He's NW of Dawnstar while I was on my way to get that Scimitar thats stashed under the boat on the coast.

Good thing you weren't playing dead is dead. I've lost characters from falling from too high places!

The reason I didn't save was because I had been playing on apprentice since I first got skyrim and had never died. I lost the habit of saving because it was unecessary, I put the game up in difficulty and was not prepared.

I always killed him on lower difficulties no problem, I was planning to use ancestors wrath on him, unfortunately It was on cooldown when I faced him because I'm an idiot.

Ice Trolls REALLY don't like fire. They don't like fire alot. Kept out of reach and used the flames spell to melt the meat from his bones. After that I didn't go up the mountain with a paralysis poison.

Its simple, go around the left edge of the mountain when you get to his spot. I always do that.
