Well I guess they could come back in Mechs loaded with missiles and lasers that go PEW PEW! but I think it would detract somewhat from the game and make it feel a bit cheesy.

Personally I like the mystery and the object lesson where the Dwemer are concerned, get too far above yourselves and you will pay the price.

missles vs magic...bring it on, according to the stories they were getting tanked the first time round, even if they advanced further they'd be getting their butts kicked on the return, when you have a world with gods in it.

why does the story have to have a moral about getting too far above yourself, the real world often lacks any such moral. :)

I demand that the Dwemer never be brought back.

As do i.
The enigma that they are makes them interesting.

Dwemers are elves, they aren't Gimli's. And well, they kinda sealed their faith when they tried to create a god.

That, my friend, is not possible. Getting smacked in the back of the head by a shovel is less annoying than cliffracers. The movie Battle of Los Angeles was less annoying. Fable 2 was less annoying. Re-breaking my rib was less annoying. In summation, nothing is now or will ever be more annoying than cliffracers.

Well, he didn't say anything about dwarves, only that the Dwemer were "beardy". And the one we met in Mournhold had a beard, so...

Hmm i think the only gods who would do something like that is Sheogorath and Sanguin

Oh it would  i would make them able to open doors, follow you on every step you make, then there is not just one spawned they are in groups of 50 and in every Cell in the game are 50 more which help the other 50  They would also be able to enter the town and follow you in your house and pcik you while sleeping ;) :D

I find it hard to believe someone would know dwemers aren't like Gimli and fail to know that they destroyed themselves, that's all.

Well, I must say the ruins are so elaborate, that I sometimes FEEL that the dwemer are still alive.

I find it hard to see why someone who appears to know about dwemer and I presume has read the dwemer lore throughout the games thinks for certain they destroyed themselves!

That is speculation by the races within who continously comment they do not know for sure it is theories, and vivec etc... do not know for sure they are extinct...no-one does not even the developers of this game probably do. Hence they have the potential to return (from the future, the past, another plane....)

Due to your impatience, I won't even bother with spoiler tags, read at your own risk. A developer confirmed a while back (Before Oblivion even) that when the Dwemer tapped the heart of Lorkhan, they were attempting to uncreate themselves into the Brass God, Numidium. They succeeded in that goal. The only problem was, it didn't work as intended and Numidium never really turned on. So yeah, that's where the Dwemer went. They turned into a shiny stompy robot that they had no control over. Quite a terrible fate.

That wasn't developer confirmed, it was just a fan-theory (forum scholars).

So the real question is, will the developers simply change the lore subject to popular opinion, or will they hold their ground?

Anything said by a developer and not explicitly presented in-game is open for change; especially if it makes the developers money..

That being said, I couldn't care less if they come back or not.

you are refering to the skin of the god I believe. Was the developer in question making an official statement on lore?

I'm going to have to say no. I've been an elder scrolls fan my entire life, and one of the most intriguing and unique aspects of this game is the mystery of the elusive, super-advanced dwemer. While part of us all wants to truly know what they're like, where they went etc. I think directly adding them to the game in full force would ruin their mystique. The purpose of the dwemer is to be unknowable. That's their role in the lore. To be an ultimate mystery beyond our comprehension. Their personalities, their beliefs, their inner thoughts, their culture were supposedly so alien and strange that it wouldn't make sense to us. I once read a dwemer children's poem and couldn't understand a word of it, but that inspired me to look deeper, it made me wonder, and imagine. That's the purpose of the dwemer. Everytime a question is answered about them, dozens of new question need to emerge. I'm all for catching glimpses of them, maybe even seeing one for the first time since Morrowind, even having a cryptic conversation with them! But having a whole game where they suddenly all reappear would ruin the magic behind them.

What is this "we" bullsheezy?

Yeah, they could come down in their spaceships and then we could call TES6: The Burning Crusade.

they dont all have to reappear a few could return to confirm they all got seperated in some far away plane and they are trying to return home, so they make a flying visit before going away again to look for kagec, knowing they exist somewhere else gives them a different mystic and a twist to boot....you can choose to help them return to yonder or not....

I want to play a construct as a playable character. It's pretty much the only thing that can make some of the game mechanics make sense to me.
