*shrug*
Being able to sort the inventory is pretty nice.
Verbal follower commands are nice.
Fast equip a designated weapon by type, also nice.
In fact all inventory navigation by voice is smooth, intuitive ("my books... their books" etc) and "better" than not having it imo.
I'm pretty happy with it, there's a lot more commands than I listed... funnily enough the one thing I don't really use it for is shouts, because your character still shouts after you give the command and I'm not really down with that.
But yeah, it's a lot more than "shouting Fus Ro Dah at my TV".
That said, I use kinect a lot outside of Skyrim, navigating xbox live, youtube, netflix etc etc so it's kinda become something I expect from xbox games and apps.
It's not a gimmick, I'm sorry but it's not, voice and gesture commands are something we have come to expect from our media technology, if only as an option.
Microsoft wanted a way to make voice and gesture viable for their machine, that's Kinect.
Cellphones, computers, smart TVs are all making voice a standard control option.
Kinect plus the incoming Smartglass on Xbox live will really make this feel natural and complete, linking up all your machines with voice and gesture without you needing to buy a single new piece of hardware... that's pretty savvy of them imo and I'm looking forward to it.
Kinect has few decent games because developers don't know what to do with it yet but using it to augment existing games is a good start.
Mass Effect 3 also did it with great aplomb imo.
But Kinect is not really about dedicated games, even if it can be used to enhance games... to make them "better" with Kinect.
It's about making control of the system fluid, natural, casual and increasing your options.
Most 360 owners know by now the machine is being built into something more than a games console.
Kinect is the only hardware extra needed, the rest is free updates.
All I'm saying is I know its "cool" to bash Kinect to show what a hardcoe gamer you are, but like I said, it's not really about games, you might want to relax until you have seen it's full potential.
