Meanwhile, I've never worn anything less dressy than a polo shirt in my life and I'm over here facepalming at the attempt to get a sorting algorithim of dork going. Why the flying truck does it matter?

One has to know exactly where the Line lies in order to avoid inadvertently crossing it.

No, that's an acceptable level of nerditry that doesn't cross the Line. They're engaging in physical activity, probably learning a little about history, and so forth. If they're actually really making metal armor using old techniques, then they're definitely learning a skill, even if it's a historical and no longer practically useful skill. But even the guys just putting on plastic armor and genuinely sparring with PVC-duct-tape-and-foam weapons are at least engaging in a light-hearted martial art.

Nice so I'm a cool nerd  we don't do it the way they did back when, but we still make our own armors and weapons :bunny: still hurts when you get struck  Outside of Skyrim, I do think Kinect is a good idea for kids It's quite the workout and improves motor skills and encourages team work and healthy competition.

Well, when I saw that guy in the GameJam video Shouting at his teevee, all I could think of was this:

There is a big difference between nerd and dork. And everyone who is a nerd will always suggest people are more nerdy that them. I play Dragon Age, Skyrim, and Mass Effect. I love The Avengers and Marvel. And I like anime. I definitely a pretty big nerd. Dorks are ill informed nerds most of the time.

I like the Voice Commands, and it does feel weird playing without them... I would say it has changed my experience. Personal preference I guess.

Skyrim is better with Kinect for me. Not sure why there's so much negativity about this. Nobody's forcing you to use it. For me it works great and makes the game much more enjoyable to play. As for the cost, it's my money and last I checked how I spend it is my choice. People blow a lot more on a whole lot less. Not a biggie.

Honestly? I can see voice commands being potentially useful, but Shouts? Um...hell no.

I have a certain manner of describing this sort of thing, and believe me when I tell you that actually shouting in ancient Nordic in your living room crosses the Dork Line.

[size=4][font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Take care you never cross the Dork Line unawares, folks, LEST YOU BE EXPOSED TO THESE HORRORS AND WORSE.

You missed the earlier post about how you don't have to shout them, and how you don't have to use the dragon language (or ancient Nordic?), how you can just say "whirlwind spirit" or "aura whisper"?

Like I said, I don't have a problem with the idea of voice commands. I've never tried any such thing, so I don't know if I'd stick with them, but I'd be willing to give voice commands a try,

Just not Shouts.

Ah...I did indeed miss that. That I could do. My only question then would be, how quickly can you say "Whirlwind sprint" in a combat situation where a half-second delay might make the difference between life and death?

Probably. I just hate the fact that skyrim bothers me everytime I go into my room without the kinect and it pesters me to plug it in. :swear:

If the GD thing could understand me most of the time then yes it WOULD have changed the game play for the better for me. But having to bark out " equip bow " 4 times as a dragon charges me is bad for combat, the dragon eats me before the damn kinect equips the bow :swear: And I'm from Canada, I can just imagine what it's like when your from a country where english isn't your first language and you have a bit of an accent, cause us Newfies sound irish and the stupid thing cannot recognize what I'm saying even though I'm speaking english  :wallbash:

Hahah, same pal.
I'm Scots/Irish, and trying to make the bloody thing understand: " Clear skies. " Is an absolute nightmare, however.
When I bark in the dragon tongue, it picks me up straight away.

I live in Texas and my kinect can't pick up Clear Skies. That last word is hard to say

Lemme guess: It wants to hear a pronounced Y, at the end, like "Clear Skoiz", rather than a long "I". Durn Yankee game developers...

Exactly. Those d*** Yankees. They don't speak like us down here in Texas.
I was mainly talking about the last word of clear skies in the dragon language. Its hard to say, too.

personally, why not just call it Voice Support, and allow the headset to work as opposed to the Kinect - much better for Bethesda imo due to the multi-platform thing

correct me if I'm wrong tho - I haven't whipped out my xbox headset in Ages~ since way before Skyrim, And fallout!
