did u play borderlands. im guessing not since they had the most items that were almost always different. nope didnt run across that in morrowind.....fail

Did Borderlands feature a character creator where you chose seven major and seven minor skills in the beginning, i don't think so. Have anyone build a tower out of books or a fort of pillows.

WTF are you talking about? You start choosing as soon as you enter the Helgen starting dungeon. Use magic, fists, dagger, whatever. Sneak, pick locks, charge.... whatever. You are choosing.

Instead of choosing by placing a checkmark next to "blade", you chosen by swinging a blade.

Like I said earlier... go back to Oblivion if that's the game you want. This isn't it. And I for one am very happy with that. I played Oblivion for 5 years... it was time for something new and different.

Ok ad something new and different but don't take away the ability to fully customize your character.

Making a claim that your character is no longer 'unique' when you look at the Perk system is kind of blindsiding yourself. Under the older leveling system, you could max out all skills and all stats with enough work. There is no way short of cheating to gain enough Perk points to max out every skill tree. In that way, i'd argue that the adoption of the Perk system has infact increased the instances of unique character builds beyond what was possible with the Statistic system previously.

And for the ability to choose your strengths as weaknesses, as its been said you do. You choose them based on how you act. If you don't use magic till level 30, its a weakness. If you don't pick up a shield untill 50, its a weakness. Just like in the real world, your strengths and weaknesses are not determined by some arbitrary checklist you do when your born. They are determined by what skills you chose to develop as you live.

There are some skills which i think were cut out for mindless streamlining purposes, but i felt the same way with Oblivion. The weapon skills are, IMO, bordering on the idiotic due to their rampant simplicity. Using a Long Sword compared dagger are two very different skills, using a Sword compared to a Mace is a complete other ball game. For the attempt to push living realism, the constant cut-back on weapon skills is counter intuitive and in most cases functionally wrong. The same can be said for the armour skills, as the removal of Medium armour has caused a strange disjunction between how armour sets grade, and the addition of Dragonbone/Dragonscale hasn't helped matters any.

The OP's complaints about realism breakers stands up to truth. Between the borderline stupification of skills and the often obscene weight discrepencies, there are some issues which are unresolvled and which i am surprised Bethesda did not clue in on. As far as uniqueness of characters? I think someone's not looking at the whole picture, and rather just the part that no longer has a Stat list. Of course, this would hold more weight if the skill trees were more ballanced... As it is, theres almost no insentive to be a Mage.

did Skyrim.....i think not

My point is that Morrowind is my favorite game, and all the things which made it good. When i have played Skyrim i have narrowed my self down to 4-5 skills to use then if someone wants to use all skills they they shall not complain about the character creator and not chose skills in the beginning.

There's a piece of light armor that you can find pretty early that helps with fist fighting. That will hold you over until the heavy armor bonus kicks in.

Was it silly to put fist fighting where it is as far as the perk is concerned... yeh, I think so. But it can still be done. Hard, but possible. I know... I'm doing it.

Could you name any other game where you could build a house out of books and which had an open world with lots of different items like armor (right, left pauldron and glove, cuirass, greaves and boots), weapons (short-sword, dagger, long-sword, throwing darts, throwing knives, bows, crossbows, spears and more) i can't and haven't played any game which is close to that so for me Morrowind sits on the throne for gaming.

Then there is people who destroys for them selfs and robb the vaults and then train their skills which makes the game easy.

Ok, so you think Morrowind was better because you could throw darts and use spears?

wait did u just say "the message you are try to deliver". wait did you want to type the message you are Trying to deliver.
Hey, thanks for pointing out my one mistake. I fixed it. Now please fix yours so your posts become a bit more legible.

then if that is the case its just like playing final fantasy except you can skip the story and do what you want
Actually, in Final Fantasy games, you are given a pre-defined character in terms of looks, personality, and often times skill set. In Skyrim, you decide what you character looks like, how they act in different situations, and what they can do. I can make an Altmer, which is normally a spell casting race, into a mighty warrior on par with the most powerful of Nords. My Bosmer is never forced to use bows simply because they are naturally good at that. My Khajit is a mage, not a thief. My Imperial is a proud member of the Stormcloaks. My Breton joined the Legion in order to establish some political stability in the world, and my Dunmer kills everything in sight. Just because he can.

Were this a Final Fantasy game, each race would have a predefined role, and your character would be an emo teen/young advlt wrist cutter with mommy issues. And possibly amnesia.

Morrowind is/was obviously still a challenge for you since you did the training all your skills to 100 wrong. Especially since not all the master trainers were actually functioning properly in the un-modded version of the game

The trainers worked just fine for me and I bought the game the day it was released. How can you train your skills wrong when everything in the game is statically leveled? All you have to do is make sure to build endurance enough to gain hit points and intelligence to gain mana, both of which could be done at the same time unlike with Skyrim where you actually have to choose one or the other.
