Exclusive Download On a Multiplatform Game

What if dawnguard svcks? Xbox users buy it on good faith. PC and PS users can judge by what Xbox users say about it.

Would you wait an extra month for say... horse armor?

I have no problem with it. Products take capital to develop, and the more resources available to create a product the better the product is likely to be when completed. If Microsoft offers to contribute resources to the development of the product in return for being able to offer it exclusively for a month, that's a price I'm willing to pay as a PC user if it means that the end result when I finally do get to play it is a better DLC.

What confuses me is why Microsoft pays to keep it away from PC users for a month also. Sony makes sense, but most PC gamers are using a Windows OS.

Shame Microsoft

Shame

Hey, you'll get to play it 30 days later than the xbox360 users. However, by the time everything is old to those players, you get to experience something brand new.

Yeah.... That's how a mother would phrase it, I guess.... just shoot me.... I can't think of anything good on this one :/

You should be thankful it's just for a month. What if it's only for Xbox?

That's just them trying to compete with Sony. They know it won't affect PC users that much because there aren't many compared to consoles.

Here's what I would do : "Can we have timed exclusives for the dlc? Here's some cold hard cash." "Keep the cash. Here's the exclusivity, now we want to be the very first developer to get a look at the nextbox architecture. And I mean, before everyone else. Just think, Fallout 4 as a launch title."

You are waiting only a month to play the DLC on PS3, calm down. Be glad Bethesda is not waiting an entire year. Bethesda announced this for Skyrim quite a while ago, and almost no one who is on the forums regularly was picked for the beta. Another thing is that Bethesda isn't shipping DLC after over a year like with Fallout 3. And lastly, it won't be as buggy when it comes to your system. Considering the problems the PS3 has, you should be glad you'll be dealing with less bugs and not more

It's not that I'm actually ticked because I have to wait a month or however long to play it, but I just don't understand the point. I mean, is Microsoft actually gonna get console sales because of early access to Dawnguard? Are they gonna get better sales numbers on the DLC? Maybe for people who have both a PS3 and a 360, but that's not that large of a market. And I also don't understand why they wouldn't purchase exclusivity on the PC.

Maybe if the exclusivity was for 6 months or something, that would make sense, maybe even boost console sales. But a month? Why?

Its not like I don't love Sony's technology. I still own my bulky PS2, which IMO is still one of the best systems ever made just for durabilities sake. That thing was the most durable system ever made, except maybe a Gamecube

It's completely fair. There was an opportunity to buy the exclusivity and Microsoft took it.
This exactly.

Considering that this is a multiple platform game (PS3, PC, & X-Box) and regardless of platform all of us have paid about the same amount for purchasing this game. Why is there exclusive download content? Even if its just for a month, it is totally unfair. I have many games from Bethseda, but I am seriously considering avoiding their products if this policy continues.
Ok XBOX Online makes their members pay, they use said money to pay Betheseda so they can let their members play Dawnguard first.
Some PS3 owners do pay for their online services, but its not mandatory like XBOX thus Playstation doesn't have the money to buy the rights to be the first for new content.
PC owners just download from steam, no subscription whatsoever.

It's entirely fair, I'm a PS3 owner with Skyrim and I don't mind waiting a month. It beats paying for online subscription every month like XBOX owners have too for the same quality service.

I still own all my old systems too (including two ancient NES consoles. :geek: I never forgave myself for selling my Atari lol) . Totally agreed about the PS2- what a great system! I feel really bad for those who are having a ton of problems with Skyrim on PS3 though. :shakehead:

They don't buy exclusivity for PC sales because they don't get any money from people buying DLC for Skyrim on PC. They do for sales of the 360 version.

Its just business... I'm biased because I'm a 360 gamer but I honestly think that this is not that big of a deal... It's 30 days! Think of Xbox getting it first as a second beta test ;) breaking it in for all the other gamers to enjoy the game more smoothly.

Knowing Bethesda's patching record - I wouldn't hold my breath.

Okay, if everyone is agreeing that others might have opinions that don't match their own, this can close before it derails into a platform war.
