Exclusive Download On a Multiplatform Game

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:23 pm

Considering that this is a multiple platform game (PS3, PC, & X-Box) and regardless of platform all of us have paid about the same amount for purchasing this game. Why is there exclusive download content? Even if its just for a month, it is totally unfair. I have many games from Bethseda, but I am seriously considering avoiding their products if this policy continues.

It is because they signed a contract with microsoft that if they released dlc on 360 first microsoft would pay them simple marketing.

You're a bit late then, it happened with Fallout 3 and New Vegas already, and (from what i've heard from not-Bethesda sources) will happen for the next DLC too.

Microsoft has money, and Bethesda likes money. Well, who doesn't? :hehe:

Ok you have someone offer you a ton of money just to release some software a month early for one system and tell me you wouldn't take that I know I would I don't blame them.

Well with all their money maybe they should hire people to find and fix bugs. Lord knows they didn't with Skyrim.

Dude.. just deal with it. Xbox has money because their online costs $60 a year + normal internet costs. PS3 and PC players (As far as gaming online) only have to pay the internet fee. This is why Xbox is getting it earlier, Microsoft has money.

It's called money. If Sony really cared they would pay for exclusives like Microsoft does. It has nothing to do with being "fair".

As said, its good marketing, microsoft pays lots of groups for early, exclusive DLC release. And honestly, they better do that. PS3 and PC players have to pay for the system they play on and internet. Xbox users need to pay for the console, internet, and the ability to play online on their xbox, so if microsoft doesn't give their users something, they have no way of earning customers when cheaper options are out there. You have a choice in what console you play on, so don't cry when the expensive one offers good deals. Blame Sony if anything, not bethesda.

With GTA IV DLC, the PS3 and PC players had no idea if they were getting TLAD and BOGT at all. Exclusive Xbox 360 GTA DLC was announced at E3 in 2006 and it was over three years later that PS3 owners found out the DLC would come to the platform.

Hi there KMWMJ! You doin' good?

Why is there exclusive download content? Even if its just for a month, it is totally unfair. Sorry, but I fail to see the logic in your stance. Because, for whatever reason, Beth has decided to privilege a certain platform, you feel excluded and thus are considering a resentful personal boycott? It looks like an entirely emotional and disproportionate reaction. What if PS3 users had adopted that same stance, saying, "Hey, Pc is getting HI Res textures, and we're not" and decided to sulk? Wouldn't make much sense would it?

It's completely fair. There was an opportunity to buy the exclusivity and Microsoft took it.

You only need a silver xbox membership for Skyrim, which is free

Sony just cant compete with Microsoft , it seems that Microsoft is superior in every way and this is coming from a lousy PS3 owner too. :(

I do not believe in exclusive content on multi-platform games. It alienates part of your fan base. If the game is exclusive to a system that is fine but if it is sold on PC, PS3 and X-Box, then the DLC should be available to all at the same time

I think you're forgetting that Bethesda is a BUSINESS, and so needs MONEY. Microsoft paid, Sony didn't. Xbox gets it early, Playstation doesn't. That's how the world works.

So you heard it here folks, if Bethesda puts the next Fallout or TES only on xbox it's all good, but god forbid you have to wait a month.

As one who plays Skyrim on a PS3, I couldn't care less that Xbox players get stuff 30 days before I do.
More power to 'em.

As you shouldn't we 360 players usually end up just beta testing the DLC for all you fine folk.
