Fallout: New Vegas Official Thread

So, it's back to the boards then. I never thought I would return here after F3 was released. This was basically the only thing that could have brought me back.

What can I say? Good luck to the devs! I hope you do your best to create a new Fallout game with all the strengths of the previous Fallout games and none of the weaknesses.

I was unaware of the specifics of the Aliens RPG because I didn't care for it.

It's relevant since they developed an engine for not only Aliens, but their future RPGs as well.

The rest of that basically reiterated what I said

What? You said something completely different.

Same here, I'm posting this after a long time of absence, just to wish good luck to the Obsidian dev team, and to say especially to J.E. Sawyer as the leader of the project, to stay true to his beliefs about a Fallout sequel. I'm full of joy right now.:)

No, i never, i stated it would be either f3's engine or Alpha Protocols.

As i said apart from the Aliens information you 'cleared' nothing up.

I have no intention of going back and forth with you.

I'm pretty sure that to make it in a year, they have to use the FO3 engine and assets.

No "rocks fall and everyone dies" endings, please. It's bad enough that Fallout 3 had something like that. As for the engine, why wouldn't they use Fallout 3's? Less work that way.

Mark Morgan composing the music would be great.

You made a prediction and I corrected it with new information.

"They wouldn't use AP's engine because they made a new engine for their future RPGs."
I have no intention of going back and forth with you.

I see.

Someone make a mod where you exit Raven Rock and are immediately crushed by exploding debris.

That would be awesome, but I was thinking of the "Purifier explodes and everyone dies" ending you get if you don't kill yourself in time.

Don't worry. If this turns out like KOTOR II, we won't even have to DEAL with the burden of an ending!

KotOR2 and NWN2 at least had endings that said what happened to places you visited and people you met as a result of your actions. Like FO1 and 2, and unlike FO3.

Well to be fair, NWN 2's REAL ending was Mask of the Betrayer's... which was a great ending I felt.

Yes, but I'm not counting endings you have to pay for extra here - neither MotB, nor Broken Steel.

I loved Mask of the Betrayer's ending. Reminded me of the ending of BG2: Throne of Bhaal.

I didn't mind KotOR II or NWN2's endings, sure they were obviously rushed, but at least they had the recap like you mention. FO3 didn't which left a sour note. Why do developers neglect endings? If I had one good thing to say about the JRPG genre it's that they know how to treat you to a great ending.

Think we might need an official thread #3 here soon. The FO3 general board have caught wind of the news :P

Who will get there first I wonder, Ausir or the mods, either are viable.

Too soon? Ok then.

The lack of a meaningful summary at the end [of the faction fates] was a big omission from Fallout 3 I thought. (but should have been pretty easy to do given they track so many actions).

~Imagine at the end... (with slides)
Ron Perlman speaks:
"And those who chose to remain and take shelter within the sheet metal walls of Megaton city, along with the surviving members of the Church of Atom ~ worshiping their 50,000 pound nuclear idol... felt the deep withering affects of its gifts to the faithful as it slowly rusted apart in its calm dead pool at the town's center".
Your indifference to their folly has doomed them all to a prolonged suffering and a pitiful death.

If the people from the original Fallout team from Obsidian is working with gamesas on this, this is going to be a guaranteed success. You have people that know the original content, plus the power of gamesas's engine for the game (if they still use the Oblivion Engine). Not to mention the setting of a Las Vegas in the retro-future of Fallout would be very cool to see. I'm praying this turns out good, not that I don't have faith. Obsidian's done some good games over the years, and I hope this meets and exceeds expectations.
