I'm hoping for an entire Vault of cloned http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teller_(magician) :hehe:

funny how the link has sent me on a journey to a teller article then to an atheism article and then to a radical islam article, who said you cant explore when inside???? :biglaugh:

anyway, i cant say much about this game except im hella excited (oh and i want it to definitely NOT contain any enemies or people who ARE or even mildly RELATED to previous game npc's i:e no super mutants or no raiders or atleast a very different faction of them)

:fallout:

That sounds more than entirely plausible, though I want to avoid getting my hopes up about a Van Buren revival, full or partial. Quite simply, it sounds too good to be true..much like FO3 (couldn't help it guys, don't rail on me :P).

If wishes were horses and I owned a game company, I'd be losing sleep at night knowing that I had a AAA title that was very near completion just sitting around. I'd get it finished ASAP and ride the success and marketing of FO3 straight to the bank - Heck I'd even reuse those BOS life size statues on the Van Buren release

The PS3 is always an afterthought. Whenever a game is sold on more than one platform, Microsoft comes along and buys exclusivity rights and so forth. Since you clearly have a computer, and can afford a PS3, if I were you i'd just put some money away bit by bit and save up enough to upgrade your PC. Problem solved.

Hmmm....that seems to lend credibility to the Van Buren revival theory because as many know it was going to be a real time FPP rpg similar to FO3.

Hmm? I was under the impression VB was going to be pseudo-isometric 3D (or whatever), certainly not FPP at the very least. Combat was also planned to be a choice of real/pause-time and turn-based, with attention to balancing both sub-systems within the combat system itself.

If wishes were horses and I owned a game company, I'd be losing sleep at night knowing that I had a AAA title that was very near completion just sitting around. Thing is, Van Buren and all its delicious mechanics were developed for the Jefferson engine. They may not interpret well into another engine. Remember the excitement of Van Buren wasn't just about a new Fallout game after so long, and a new story. It had really come far from its predecessors and the mechanics featured in-game would be the epitome of Black Isle titles past, with an engine to boot. A Van Buren without these would seem like a missed opportunity. But we'll see the way things go as time goes on, is it even official that Gamebryo will be used? Or just an educated guess?

I hope they keep the gameplay somewhat similar to that of fallout3 though i definitely think they shouldn't lean really at all on npcs or anything like that from FO3. I'm also curious to the time constraints and hope that they take extra time if needed to produce a better all around game with more content so it's not just like an expansion. There's a lot of stuff they could work with as stated earlier like area 51 etc so I'm very excited and can't wait to see what Obsidian/Beth plan on doing with it.

Also: Since Bethesda is still involved in the project, and they've said before that they have no interest in releasing someone else's product (or something to that effect), I think we can safely say that this will NOT be Van Buren. I'm surprised people are even bringing this up.

Bethesda said that THEY will not release someone else's project, Obsidian is not Bethesda and Obsidian consists of most of the people who worked on Van Buren to begin with.

True, but it's not just Obsidian who's making it. As I said, Bethesda is still involved.

Also, although I personally don't care about graphics, the truth is that a blocky, isometric-looking game like Van Buren would not sell these days. Sure, some people (myself included) would buy it, they wouldn't make as much money as they would with a pretty game like Fallout 3. And at the end of the day, game companies are all about buying a second mansion or a third yacht.

Whilst this is also true, there's no reason why Beth wouldn't take this opportunity to get Obsidian to implement a rendition of VB in this instance. But as I said, it's something I don't particularly want to think about, because that would be far too ideal :P

New Reno is the best city in Fallout Universe, in my opinion. You can became porm star there. And from the name New Vegas, it sound very naughty and full of sin. I hope it can became better than New Reno and doesn't influenced by the evil ESRB rating.

By asking Obsidian to develop the game, it's the first right thing to do. The second thing is recruiting the ex-developer of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I hear three of them is also Fallout ex-developer and most of the joke and fun is made by them.

I also hope it increase the number of follower we can recruit. Up to 2 or 4, may be.

A take on the war between the BoS and the NCR would be interesting. Or the expansion of the NCR. Another possible story arc would be the initial expedition of the Harold and the other guys to the Mariposa Base that created the Master.

How long has this been in pre-production for, are you allowed to say?

Like I said before, a year isn't a long time. I really don't want to see this rushed straight to hell.

Methinks he just popped in to stir up the ant hive. I don't think very many Bethesda fans even know who J.E. Sawyer is thus the lack of reaction.

Pretty sure it was him though, saw him viewing the thread on the Obsidian Entertainment boards at the same time.
