Also: Since Bethesda is still involved in the project, and they've said before that they have no interest in releasing someone else's product (or something to that effect), I think we can safely say that this will NOT be Van Buren. I'm surprised people are even bringing this up.
"Therin lies the rub". Technically speaking Bethesda wouldn't be releasing someone else's work. Mr. Sawyer and Co would simply be back in business on finishing a title they had already put work into and was canceled. I think it'd be great poetic justice to allow some of the original devs to make some cheese off a project that was canned because of poor management.
Of course this is just wishful thinking. It would be a real stretch for this to actually happen. It's fun thinking about it though, and if it did happen I'd certainly doff my cap to Bethesda for a well played hand :tops:
True, but it's not just Obsidian who's making it. As I said, Bethesda is still involved.
Also, although I personally don't care about graphics, the truth is that a blocky, isometric-looking game like Van Buren would not sell these days. Sure, some people (myself included) would buy it, they wouldn't make as much money as they would with a pretty game like Fallout 3. And at the end of the day, game companies are all about buying a second mansion or a third yacht.
*flamebait removed, don't do that please. :nono:
