How do we beg Obsidian to bring it back?

I think the magical word please is a good starter. After that we can all drop on to our knees and hope for the best.

How do we beg Obsidian to bring it back? Because I hope, that if they don't add it to the game, that someone will then make a mod which adds it for us :)

Perhaps the same way they "persuade" Bioware and Bethesda to give them what is left over.

It doesn't work that way - BioWare and Bethesda go to Obsidian, not the other way around, and it's more of a "What do you think about working on a title for us?" type of thing. Plenty of independent studios would jump at the chance to work on the "left overs" of big name titles.

BioWare recommended Obsidian for KotOR II and NWN 2, and Bethesda are the ones who approached them about a Fallout game.

Kinda svcks MCA isn't writing anything for NV, would love another Myron-esque character. Also, am I the only one who noticed that his picture is on the from page of wikipedia?

This is to clarify that I do like Obsidian and my previous post was meant as a joke. I think that they did a fairly good job with KotOR2 and NWN2 and I am looking forward to FO:NV. Having said that, I also think it's about time to prove themselves with their own IP, instead of just making sequels or spinoffs for bigger studios.

Yes they are, but I think that this game is hardly the way to prove themselves in the RPG market. The rumours say that they have also been working for some time now on their own fantasy world with the prospect of releasing a more traditional RPG. I hope they are true, because I think that they should stick to what they know to do best.

Well Alpha Protocol is just that; though I'm personally not looking forward to it because the protagonist is way too defined for my taste. I was more looking forward to the Alien RPG, but then Sega went and canceled most of the Alien titles in development.

They would probably love to do their own stuff, it's just the problem of convincing publishers to take a chance on it. I think MCA himself said so in an interview somewhere. Thew unannounced project is supposed to be all brand new Obsidian tech, so maybe that will give them the big break they need.

Who knows? Maybe if New Vegas does well, Obsidian will get to do true FO sequels. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if their collaboration with Bethesda wasn't limited to New Vegas in fact. Like, for example, getting the rights to the SPECIAL system for one game...

I don't like to diss games before I see them, but Alpha Protocol seems to have no appeal to me. Can't customize PC (can't play a girl), quest hubs, and seemingly too story driven. The only thing that would redeem this for me is a large degree of exploration, but I don't expect it.

It could be a great game, but not for me, I think.

what i really want to see in new vegas is big believable settlements that are well designed and developed with lots of quests, dont get me wrong the settlement in fallout 3 where ok but that was it, rivet city being the best, i want a built up city like the pit but you no not as hostile.
Another cool thing would be the option to have a family, get a house(which you could build defenses for e.g turrets barricades mines stuff like that) and being able to get a jobs e.g. security, assassin, mercenary or joining a faction and fighting to earn money.
I hope you like my ideas and i really hope they are considered as i think this would be an amazing feature.

Really, all I'm hoping for from New Vegas is a nice "Fallout" sort of ending. As far as I'm concerned, nothing captures the feeling of the first time I played Fallout 1 more than having a nice bit of closure at the very end and finding out what became of all of the major places and characters as a result of your adventures. I always appreciate an RPG that sees the ending sequence as the reward I've been working towards through the rest of the game; as opposed to something inconsequential - I remember Fallout 1 just about blowing my mind the first time I finished it.

Seeing as Obsidian's done that in at least one of their other games, to my knowledge (KOTOR 2, which I figure still counts even if it seemed a bit rushed,) I kind of have high hopes for them in this area.

Obsidian did multiple endings in Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir as well. They've basically done it in all of the games they've released thus far. In NWN 2 + Expansions they were actually single picture slides like in the classic Fallout games.

I do miss that. I remember being shocked how much havoc I had caused, when at the time I felt I was doing the right thing.

One of the improvements I'd like to see is the creation of a forgotten race: Native American. They've only really appeared in Fallout: Tactics, and would have in Van Buren.

And yes, there are still some of us that live off the land. In case of a nuclear war, Native Americans are probably the best trained to survive the aftermath (especially the Desert Tribes). I doubt many would make it into the Vaults, but on the outide would be another story.

And lets not forget the Navajo reservation, the largest in the United States (Its borders overlap 4 states, and if I'm not mistaken, Nevada is one of them). Personally I'd love to see my own tribe, Chiricahua Apache (Geronimo, Cochise), but we're in Southern Arizona.

Something I'd like to see is for the gameworld to be a bit less wild and whacky and a bit more believable. I mean, there's always gonna be a limit on realism of course, given that this is not based on reality. But the world of Fallout 3 (beautiful as it was) is so lacking in consistency that it's actually rather jarring at times. I can't tell you the "what the hell" (in a bad way) feeling I got when I first encountered the city with the two super heroes battling it out. I mean... Fallout is not completely realistic, but it's realistic enough to make me connect with the world and see the sadness, irony, brutality etc of it all. But all that goes out the window when you encounter something like that in Fallout 3.

Anyways, since I guess we're not gonna see any complete revamps of the actual gameplay, I'd hope for a better balanced SPECIAL system that is also more akin to the older games in terms of importance. Where the character creation was really important as to how you would play the game, and your character would always have good sides and bad sides throughout the game. And where the SPECIAL stats themselves were really important.

I'd also hope for the writing to be a lot better, and lots of good gray areas and those "man, I don't really have a *good* choice out of this situation" quests. And the choices should have good consequences in-game, as well as in an ending slide ala the older Fallouts (as well as a bunch of other good RPGs).
