Fallout: New Vegas Teaser trailer up

I respect your opinion, but you seem to have an extreme case of counting your chickens before they hatch. But in this case, you haven't even seen the eggs yet, you just know they're coming. But somehow you think they'll be better than the last batch of eggs.

Care to explain to me how you feel the ORIGINAL designers, writers of fallout can make the game worse? At WORST IMO it will be just AS enjoyable as fo3. So it can only BE better I think is the point these folks are making.

No one can predict how good or bad the game will be - and I'm reasonably sure that even after its out, this debate will only intensify - but today we know little still.

I never said it will be worse. I said that there's no reason to think it will be better than Fallout 3 when we have seen absolutely no gameplay of the game, and no story yet. I'm not defending Beth here, but you guys are defending Obsidian. You need to understand that Bethesda is not the devil, and Obsidian is not a deity, both are normal developers than have the potential to make a great, decent or terrible game. Learn to judge a game based on what it is, not who made it.

C'mon now. There's nothing wrong with a little blind optimism every now and again. Certainly nothing to get this defensive over.

Let me intervene here before this thread gets derailed. People have differing opinions and/or hopes about Fallout New Vegas vs. Fallout3 vs Fallout 1 or 2. Most people are being respectful, even when disagreeing and that is fine. However, if you get to a point where you are accusing one person or another of fan-boyism and the like, then check your own reactions. And then edit your post. Okay?

Carry on then.

That video just gives me more questions that I need answering now lol

Will it be based in the city or like Fallout 3 will Vegas just be a part of the map and surrounded by wastelands?

Will the robot and its cowboy picture be an integral part of the game or was it just an automated gravedigger.

Hope that long trenchcoat is a wearable armour (Thats my view of a post nuclear attack adventurer, sort of Judge Dredd badlands wanderer)

Is the cowboy the new pipboy

Just sooooo many questions :)

But all in all I am quiet excited by this, just hop i will be done with the new Red Dead game by the Fall 2010

I think I see a saucer on the trailer at 1:16 on the lower left corner which is circular.

I think they will be very similar with the same engine and all. They already know what to leave alone about the game and what needs to be changed just from all of the feedback. I just see no way that NV won't be the better game. If that huge lit up city is actually in the game like that I don't think anyone else would disagree.

I'm sure a lot of old-timers will praise the story for slavish devotion to reproducing things that appeared in FO2, but in truth NV has potential to improve on the storytelling of FO3 just because they have the engine and pile of art assets ready to go. The whole team, including programmers and artists, can focus 100% on the needs of the story.

Hopefully they go with the Van Buren material where Hoover Dam is an isolated offshoot of the NCR, with settlements in the traditional bounds of California mysteriously incommunicado. That would be much more interesting than the FO2 ending with the NCR an ascending hegemony over everything west of the rockies.

I think better/worse is being confused with more/less to my taste here. What one player considers "better" can easily be less fun for another. If you really enjoy one style of story-telling, it's natural to worry that you may not enjoy another quite so much.

I just don't see why it has to be the better game. We have no message from the future saying it is. Games fail, very often. Games succeed, very often. Do I want it to be the better game? Of course! If they improve on the things people didn't like in Fallout 3, then it will be a better game. I want it to be. I just think that we should wait until we have actual evidence that it is a better game, to say it's a better game. That's all I would like to see.

LMFAO!!!!!! I'm actually in Vegas with some friends, right now. Luckily I decided to check the forums to see what was happening, and BAM! Teaser Trailer for FO:NV.

It looks nice, and considering that the NCR (Timeline wise) was already beginning to build railroads once again, I'm not really surprised to see New Vegas all lit up (transportation= some form of energy being used). Maybe we'll have some mode of transportation this time? (I hope we do anyway.) I do hope that coat the mystery man/woman is wearing, will be available in-game. I'd wear it all the time.... in fact, maybe I'll go out to the desert tonight, and see if I can find him/her, and take it from them. :P

I want to start off saying that Fallout 3 has to be one of the best games I have ever played right next to Elder Scrolls IV. All I want from Fallout:Vegas is originality. I want it to look and feel like Fallout. I want more realistic situations and better graphics. I like the looks of the city in the teaser but the video felt like they tried to give it a fallout feeling but failed. Those robots look kind of stupid and useless. Please don't let me down. I love the feeling of fallout and everything about it. I can see the Obsidian look to the video and it scares me. Almost like a bad dream of fallout and nights of the old republic mixed up together. I want freedom and I want it to be as realistic as a video game can get. Try to beat Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption. That game looks next generation. I hope Bethesda knows what i'm saying...

ZOMG a city! That is going to be awesome!

Yes and hopefully they will utilize Umbra and make the city ONE cell. The way that DC was split up into a bunch of sections was...oh so annoying.

I do agree. I would like to see cool mini games that will win you caps and stuff. Also it would be nice to have guilds (or other such organizations) that would have long quest strings.

Am I the only one who thinks that New Vegas looks a bit too heavily lighted. Is it going to be a non-nuked city like New Reno?

yes exactly! and it would be cool when the game was over you still had a schedule and things to do like quests that never end like in oblivion in the dark brotherhood you still have things to do that makes you want to keep playing on and on and i hope you keep it old school like fallout 3 whats all this new technology they have the new armor looks like it came out of area 51 or something!!!! i like weathered armor its realistic and more badass which brings me to the subject i want my character to scar over time or have wound shots and all that cool stuff. because your lone wanderer isnt a badass without a story of scars

The trailer is okay, but that 'music' pains my ears (I don't mean the song).
