Fallout: New Vegas Teaser trailer up

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:35 am

I knew this game would be awesome before I saw anything about it. I say it tops Fallout 3. The location alone is awesome. Let's also hope for some quality DLC that doesn't contain things that should've been in the game already. Thumbs up guys.

Care to explain why a 2 minute long clip of non-in-game footage makes New Vegas better than Fallout 3?

Ohhh I disagree. Fallout 3's was more original (New Vegas basically copies the fallout 3 teaser) and "I don't want to set the world on fire" is a better song IMO.

Has there been any other information around to help explain the teaser?

(I'm new as of about 25 minutes ago...)

Thanks

I agree, it looked almost exactly the same in starting focus on something small and slowly expanding to reveal the wasteland all around the thing, and starting with a 1950s song...

I would suspect this was intentional, and it looks nice (I won't fall for the "This trailer looks better than Fo3 just because it has new-car smell" - they are both good IMHO).

I don't understand what the droid's significance is, the thing seems to be stuck in a loop doing absolutely nothing but trying to pickup sand and repeating. It doesn't look like a droid that is in control...

I'm curious, who made the video? Never seen a rendered cinematic of that quality from Beth before so if it's yours, if not, only curious.

Yeah copying Fallout 3 definitely isn't a bad thing ;)

@Always Z

Since Bethesda is the publisher I'm pretty sure they are in charge of marketing; so they may have made the trailer. Not sure though it could have been Obsidian.

More news should be coming on the game soon. Some cover stories should be hitting in the coming days/weeks.

Okay, so then everything we knew about the game before the trailer, which consisted of it's name and location, makes it better than Fallout 3?

But why does Vegas look like the real thing? Couldn't "new" imply that the city was rebuilt after the bombs fell?

The thought had occured to me (reality+speculation) that even if Las Vegas was nuked to the foundation, there's enough signage and neon kept at the old strip graveyard to rebuild a whole new mini vegas out of the decomissioned scrap.

If you played FO1 to 3 you would know thats the way ALL the opening cimatatics are done. Anything else would cause riots from the long time fans. This kind of cimematic is expected and appreciated they are keeping with the FO roots.

I believe it is being made by a more knowledgeable team that will bring a better story. I believe since they have the second "go" at the new style of Fallout that they will improve upon all mistakes and short comings of Fallout 3. I believe the graphics will be a bit sharper. I believe Las Vegas is a much better location than DC, and the atmosphere will be much more immersive. Good enough for you?

To me it looks like that robot is making the same motion over and over again, but I could be wrong...

Don't see whats so hard in grasping they looted whatever remained of old vegas and moved/rebuilt it using said scavenged aspects. Or perhaps NV was a city created BEFORE the bombs fell even as a Vegas 2 kind of town as old Vegas simply couldn't expand anymore. Theres lots of possibilities. I am simply saying makes a lot more technical, practical sense to move the town closer to the dam for power then running power lines 1/2 across the former state and trying to upkeep said lines from raiders and other scavangers.

My 2 coppers :)

I respect your opinion, but you seem to have an extreme case of counting your chickens before they hatch. But in this case, you haven't even seen the eggs yet, you just know they're coming. But somehow you think they'll be better than the last batch of eggs.

Sounds like the same composer who worked on Fallout 3 did the music for this trailer, am I right? I guess this would be an instance of Bethesda lending their resources, which in this case is a recomendation. The composer probably doesn't work for them. :P

That city looked well lit and futuristic for the most part. Thats gonna be a big change from Fallout 3. How does that city compare to those who have played previous fallout games? Is it something you'd see?
