A non 3D Bethesda-signed game in 2010? Where did you hide during those 9 years?

Oh hell yes.

Funny, though, how much it resembles the Fallout 3 trailer. Starts out peacefully with the 50's music, then pans out to show a post-apoc landscape, and then switches to the eerie FO3 theme with a mysterious guy standing in the foreground.

Well, it's the same game series. That's like saying it's weird all the Star Wars movies start the same way...

I just hope its 3d and you can switch from first and third person. And that its story line doesnt involve the Main character dying until some broken dlc comes out.

The engine is the same from Fallout 3, so it's going to be 3d and it's going to be first and third person.

Yeah I noticed that! Anyway it's a cool teaser.

I watched something on Youtube that told me about using the G.E.C.K to create the "new world". Problem is, I was told the G.E.C.K is not for PS3 users, so what are we going to do about this?

G.E.C.K In fallout universe is a terraforming tool.
G.E.C.K Is also a modding tool for Fallout 3. But it's only available for PC.

Vault 171?
Only 122 were built. + Vault 0, if you count that.

my contribution :)

- the robot seems to be digging out a corpse
- he does that very in a careful and cautious manner, seemingly trying not to hurt or damage it
- strangely enough, his grappling arms are not really a suitable toolset for digging, implying he probably does something unusual
- the NCR flag does not look exactly pristine, it's worn down and shows traces of conflict

i think, it's pretty save to say, that there is a conflict between (factions in) new vegas and the NCR. other than that, it remains mysterious, especially the robot with his tv-screen head, and the things he's doing.

i think it's a hint to vault 7

also Hoover dam powers las vegas and can run for quite a while without humans

Yes and no actually. If all humans stopped working at Hoover today is it self sufficient to run by itself for the most part? Yes. After 200 yrs? No. Reason being every year there is a build up of algae and coruscations in the water pump lines that are manually cleaned out. If not done, the last generator would auto shut down to prevent itself from burning out in less then a decade its estimated due to the build up choking the water intakes. (Actually saw this exact topic on the discovery show life after humans that addressed Hoover dam.)

However this could easily be explained if no bombs fell on the dam (I agree much more valuable targets then it) that the techie ppl of NV simply went to hoover and cleared up the intakes and got the dam started again. Then restored the power lines to it. As according to the show the dam wouldnt fail for much longer then 200 yrs. Stop making power yes, but fail on a structal level no.

Also the word 'new' implies NV simply is a new settlement does not mean its where the old vegas is/was. Very possible they moved the town closer to the dam for power and renamed it. Just like New York and New Hampshire. They are not in the same locations as the UK York and Hampshire.

FYI :)

My guess -

Robot looting the graves for anything valuable. Its pretty clear its taking whatever tech it can find and dropping it into a pile to perhaps be collected later.
If I was to take a guess of the mind of J.E. :P I'd say the main plot is you are or become a agent of NCR and either by diplomacy or force get NV to come under the NCR banner and join it.
If by foot I walked from the NCR territory to the vegas region my flag and equipment prob be worn as well. Not surprising his flag is worse for wear.

My guess :)

It could just be a cleaning robot continuing to fulfill it's directive after all these years. Just like Protectrons that still "protect" the subways in the Capital Wasteland. With those clamp-like hands, it could have been used to clean up litter, and that's what it's still doing.

But why does Vegas look like the real thing? Couldn't "new" imply that the city was rebuilt after the bombs fell?

To me it looks like that robot is making the same motion over and over again, but I could be wrong...
