Huh?, does'nt that rather depend on the mod?, sure, Uberman with his 1000gigawatt tesla prototype and anime babes with flaming swords are not canon, but I've seen mods that fit in quite well with fallout.

That's not what I meant. I meant that mods created by fans are not a part of the official storyline. Sure, a mod can be lore-friendly, but that doesn't make it official.

Don't get me wrong, I love mods a great deal, and I do not mind the ones that aren't very lore-friendly, but I also want full access to content related to the canon storyline.

Details
November 17, 2010 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks?, a ZeniMax? Media company, today announced that Dead Money, the first downloadable content for Fallout?: New Vegas?, will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE? for the Xbox 360? video game and entertainment system from Microsoft beginning December 21, 2010.

“We’re pleased to give fans a chance to expand their experience in Fallout: New Vegas this December with Dead Money,” said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. “The release of Dead Money illustrates our commitment to creating entertaining add-on content for players to enjoy in already massive games like Fallout: New Vegas.”

As the victim of a raw deal you must work alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. In Dead Money, your life hangs in the balance as you face new terrain, foes, and choices. It is up to you how you play your cards in the quest to survive.

Fallout: New Vegas, the follow-up to Fallout 3 – the 2008 Game of the Year – brings this beloved franchise to a location only Fallout could do justice: Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

Reviews of Fallout: New Vegas have called the game as “an utterly essential purchase” (MSN UK) and as “addictively, rambunctiously fun” (Entertainment Weekly). The Associated Press awarded it a 4 out of 4 stars and said “Bottom Line: It’s a Blast”, while GameSpy gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and called Fallout: New Vegas “one of the best games of the year.”

Published by Bethesda Softworks and developed at Obsidian Entertainment, Dead Money, has not yet been rated by the ESRB. It will be available for 800 Microsoft points.

Fallout: New Vegas has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on Fallout: New Vegas, including the game’s downloadable content, please visit http://fallout.gamesas.com.

In response to the canonicity of mods, it depends. Obviously mods that add dragons or Final Fantasy weapons aren't going to be "canon". A mod that adds, say, the Winchester P94 Plasma Rifle though? A mod that just alters the UI to make it more bearable on the PC? Unofficial Patches? These can certainly be considered "canon". They're not "official", but they fit in perfectly with the lore, and in the P94 Plasma Rifle's case it's not like it doesn't exist in the Fallout world just because it wasn't in Fallout 3.

This thread has become more like something about people saying how bad they feel because they left two of the three platforms out of the DLC just because of a financial decision, although i do hope we get it in the end.
Besides that interview you posted didn't say anything, they just said some details about what the DLC will be about,

Sorry, I thought this was the DLC information page, not the DLC flaming page. :P

I'll be sure to post my future findings in the correct thread next time.

Wow, now Microsoft is alienating their own customers. Can't say I'm surprised.

Apolgizes if it has been posted before:

Chris Avellone
is Lead Creative Designer as well as Project Director on the DLC. This nearly confirms that it will be story/charachter heavy

I wonder if this is going to be the same "lose your weapons and companion" start. I hope not, I hated that about The Pitt, Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta.

Well that was the Bethesda approach to DLC quest design. :P

Obsidian is a creative team, I doubt they'll do this.

I was pissed off for about 5 minutes. Then I read the description of the DLC.

Meh. I don't think I'll miss any gameplay. I would just like access to any assets/resources that come with it.

Yeah the glowing eyes are unlike anything I've seen in terms of Fallout 3 creature design. Nothing really glows like that besides well..Glowing ones. :P

I wonder where they even got that image from?

Is there any relation between the Sierra Army Depot base from Fallout 2 to the Sierra Madre Casino or do they just have the same 1st name. I guess I could find out in Dec
