1.2 for PC delayed until console patches go live?

You can get the PC patch as DLC from Steam at $3.99... it's coming soon.

Lol... that would be pure evil.

This is posted up top in the stickies about Patch 1.2, and also on the twitter for Pete Hines:

"Wanted to let everyone know that the next PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates have been submitted for certification, and that the PC patch is coming too. The current estimate is that they will be live the week after Thanksgiving. "

Why do we have to wait two weeks if the patch is done? So we can sync it up with the console patches? This console crap has got to stop.

They could have said nothing. Now they re-affirm us that a patch is coming and even give a target date and you still find something to complain about. Get off your pedestal.

Considering TES started on PC and they have the most knowledge with PC, it being harder to patch PC is a complete load of crap. Stop kidding yourself.

You are full of crap

Short list of issues on PC

crossfire support
dx11 potential compatibility problems
windows 7 & older systems musical chair nightmare
full support for whole radeon lineup
full support for whole nvidia lineup
support for variable number of processor
(some mistakes can cause crashes, depending what technologies were used)
(those problems are called deadlocks)

in comparison, ps3 and xbox360 are simple architectures

but if they get things streamlined on pc, it will rock

for now on my side, clicking the play button on steam doesnt do much besside showing the configuration screen
after I hit play on that other screen it only start a process that show in the taskbar... with 7,000 K
obviously stalled for some reason during the loading process

Give them all the information you can, thats the only way to help them

on ps3 and xbox 360, their problems seems verry simple (from the threads in those bords)
most have to do with those machines being too out of date for such a demanding game
so their solution is probably decreasing the experience quality.... on console
while on pc its a totally different job

I just wish peoples who got it running smoothly would report in details
about their configuration and the way they did the instal
and details like what firewall & antivirus they use if any
and what they did to put those out of the way (if anything special)
windows 7 is extremely defensive too, it cause problems sometime

anyway, I hope some day I ll play

I agree consoles are destroying PC games.. Just take a look at what Happened to Battlefield 3 that game is soo messed up.. the correct way of doing it is to Build for PC first then port to Console.. its too bad consoles are the majority

It's not as if we who can't play the game have anything better to do for two weeks. You'll just have to learn to live with it.

hopefully, yes. As it takes so much longer with the PC patch, I wonder if they'll add something else too it to, besides just fixes?

I think they want to release the 1.2 patch when nvidia will release his new drivers, 290.xx (i think) probably in 24.

PS: See the Skyrim pics on nvidia's site, the "are you geared up for Skyrim?"

I think nvidia will release a driver to improve a little the performance, + the 1.2 patch that can probably fix this shadows and other stuff performance-only issues = we possibly have a perfect Skyrim.

Is your PC exactly like mine? No, it isn't. There you have it... Also, PC gets gobs more options in every aspect, so it makes perfect sense that it's the hardest platform to patch for.

God, shut up. It's any wonder they even bother with the PC crowd...nothing is ever good enough for some of you people.

Do you have any idea how many more variables have to be considered for a large PC patch to a massive and complex game like Skyrim? The game has only been out 7 days....they probably don't even have a good grasp of the PC issues let alone know how effectively fix them.

Oh and yes, I am a PC gamer myself. Just calm down.

sad truth is that the console does make more money, easier to build for, and easier to maintain.

it is an old dx9 platform with simple universal hardware/software.

compared to PC it is VERY easy to accommodate (not to mention PC users are more likely to be on forums complaining LoL).

oh... and current Skyrim issues on the xbox/ps3 are FAR fewer than PC.

so, to recap, PC is complex to work, endless bugs due to infinite configurations, and holds less market share... painful reality.

a patch will come... so will mod tools... in the mean time the community support is exceptional!

Check your hardware, clean your fans, reload your drivers, scan the forums for 'fixes'... a lot of hassle but WELL worth the effort ;)

The PC has a lot of problems so I'm guessing its going to take longer for that reason.
The consoles have more. Especially PS3. Me and a friend got it at midnight release and we played it pretty much side by side (me on PC, him on PS3). In the beginning everything was fine, sure the PC had better graphics, but that was expected. Few days later I'm watching him play the game with a 10mb save file and you can't even see the sword swing anymore. It's just a slideshow. Yeah, they can have two weeks, I can wait, my PC problems aren't nearly as bad as EVERYONE who has a PS3 not being able to play the game after a certain point.

Historically, any modern game released on all three platforms will sell more on the console's than PC.
You mean like http://www.technobuffalo.com/gaming/platform-gaming/portal-2-sales-strongest-on-pc-platform/?

I'm not sure what you mean, but it says in the interview that Left 4 Dead sold better on consoles so it's not because Valve made it. Additionally, Portal 2 was actually a way better deal if you bought it for PS3 (which I did), since it came with a free Steam copy.

All I'm saying is the whole "console games always sell better" thing is a myth, it's just a hard myth to disprove since the largest-by-far computer game retailer, Steam, doesn't release sales figures.

What's the source on this? Steam doesn't release their sales figures, so I'm pretty sure it's impossible to say what platform performed the worst unless Bethesda releases the numbers.

This.

Not sure, but the consoles aren't connected to steam, so that whole 288,000 players on Steam came from the PC version on release day.

Just release the Creation Kit, Bethesda. Modders will fix your game faster/better than you can. Unofficial Skyrim Patch would be out within a day.

What worries me is not the time that they are taking to release it, is the actual patch...i mean 1.2? to fix all the bugs the game already have we need a 3.0 lol

I know everyone is playing the 'Every PC is different' card to defend Bethesda but truth is...the state the game is in at the moment it shouldn't of passed any form of QA. Don't get me wrong, I've played 50+ hours of generally trouble free gaming but I can fully sympathize with peoples frustration here. I've had to tweak INI's and Google bug fixes, something the average PC user shouldn't have to do.

It does feel as if the attitude to PC gamers gears towards us all being very resourceful, but after reading some of the threads here you can see most people don't want to spend the time researching something that should of worked in the first place. If it wasn't for the people who have great knowledge of the engine I'd imagine a huge chunk of people would still be having huge issues.

End of the day all the anger doesn't get anything fixed quicker, look at it this way...Before now we didn't even know a patch was in the works!

people need to just Please continue, my good sir. and be content with knowing that a patch is coming, self entitled whining gamers crying over which platform gets what first or last is is pathetic to see.. they don't need to tell us anything about a patch coming.. nor whats in it, it's a courtesy.
