1.2 for PC delayed until console patches go live?

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 4:28 pm

This is posted up top in the stickies about Patch 1.2, and also on the twitter for Pete Hines:

"Wanted to let everyone know that the next PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates have been submitted for certification, and that the PC patch is coming too. The current estimate is that they will be live the week after Thanksgiving. "

Why do we have to wait two weeks if the patch is done? So we can sync it up with the console patches? This console crap has got to stop.

Pay them more money than all of the consoles combined then I promise you they'll give more care to PC.

It doesn't really specify that's the reason for the delay on the PC patch, does it? It could just be due the fact that there's more work to do for the PC patch. That would be my guess.

PC has the fewest sales and is by far the hardest to patch. So this doesn't surprise me one bit.

Go play the PS3 version with a 12mb savefile, it's nearly unplayable and I'm hoping the patch solves it, which it probably won't, so count yourself lucky.

Considering TES started on PC and they have the most knowledge with PC, it being harder to patch PC is a complete load of crap. Stop kidding yourself.

He said the PS3 and 360 patches were done and that the PC patch was coming soon. Nothing's been delayed.

I would bet you $100 that if the SDK had been released already there would be hundreds of bug fixes out by now. All Bethesda has to do is give the community the tools to fix it, because its not like they will do it for us.

Why do they cater so much to the Consoles? They entire genre is best built for PC, c'mon Beth!

I've been saying since the day after release....every PS3 / 360 bug is gonna be fixed before they even THINK about patching the PC version of the game.

Anyone who thought otherwise was lying to themselves.

Glad I played the [censored] outta this game for the past week -- now I can put it down for a couple weeks, come back and roll a new toon and, hopefully, enjoy Skyrim in its PROPER glory.

What's the source on this? Steam doesn't release their sales figures, so I'm pretty sure it's impossible to say what platform performed the worst unless Bethesda releases the numbers.

Historically, any modern game released on all three platforms will sell more on the console's than PC. It's very, very safe to assume that Skyrim sold more on PS3 and 360.

However, I'm sure that the percentage of PC purchases to console is better for the Elder Scrolls game than, say, Call of Duty.

While you may be correct about the patch itself not being more difficult, would you care to visualize the test process for the different platforms and rethink you stance. PS3 and X360 are SET peices of hardware that (theoretically) only require a single test platform each. How many differnt test platforms would you consider "enough" when testing the PC version? 5, 25, 100, 500? Stop kidding YOURSELF.

Nothing in that quote implies the PC version is just sitting there waiting for the console versions to be verified to get released. In fact, I'm guessing a much more difficult and lengthy test process is being done on the PC version as there is no outside verification to be performed like MS and SONY appear to do.

If they said it was going to be released tomorrow, someone would comlain that they didn't get it yesterday.....

Ain't gonna happen bud. Either deal with it or give up PC gaming entirely. Consoles make money. Money makes the world go round, thats life.

So you're somehow reading "the PC patch is coming too" as "the PC patch is done too but we're holding it back until the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates have been certified"?

The PC has a lot of problems so I'm guessing its going to take longer for that reason.

If most of your customers are based on a console, wouldn't it make more sense to build a patch for the largest portion of your base first?
Does to me.

It svcks non the less though. You'd think with such a large studio, they'd have enough people to work on all platforms on parallel.

Good to hear! Come on guys, we can't expect these fixes in less then a week. The fact that they have acknowledged them makes me pretty happy. Now what it fixes, we won't know, but any fix is better then none at the moment

At least we have the options of fixing the problems ourselves. Plus the talented people at Skyrim Nexus. Just wait until the Creation Kit is released. Then Skryim will be glorious.
