Greybeard's Robe

Who says that the Greybeards would have to agree to give the robe?

Bethesda does. That's pretty clear.

What enchantment would they have? They just spend their time in the monastery.

Thats what im wondering. Perhaps some kind of enchantment that makes them chill out.

Lol. People will disagree with anything (cue "No, they won't"). Yeah, it svcks that you can't find a set, not to mention the other half dozen sets of robes that are missing or weren't implemented. The grey, green, red, and white ones.

I think they would rather do some pipe smoking. They're old. No wonder they like to sit in one place so much. And it would take a lot of effort to get down that mountain at their age. They got no choice but to chill out :P

Resistance to frost and a fortify shout would make sense, considering their environment and lifestyle.

Yes. Actually, that makes perfect sense.

I'm still waiting on the skimpy Greybeards robe.

I'm surprised there aren't any robes within the monastery itself. You'd think the Greybeards would wash their attire at some point in time. What do they wear in the meantime?

Valid point, but you see, Greybeards don't "wash" their clothes, they shout them clean. One of the few benefits of being a Greybeard, easy laundry days. Chuck Norris could actually take some notes here.

your answer doesn't makes any sense, but ok. I was talking hypothetically as you are fully aware if you weren't so busy trying to troll around.

Given that they seem to rely on "donations" of food, etc., to sustain themselves, you'd think they'd have a gift shop to drum up money from the pilgrims looking for "Throat of the World" souvenirs and memorabilia.

I'm sure robes emblazoned with "Greybeards Rock" type slogans would be a hot item.

You asked "who sez?" to the idea of the Greybeards not letting anyone else have their robes. The answer is Bethesda's writing team. You can make up anything you want, but it's not in the game.

The Greybeards should have spare robes? Bethesda clearly disagreed.

Other people should wear them? Again, the designers beg to differ.

But I agree. Whenever someone answers your question in a way you don't like, just call it trolling.

Since they made the item and gave it to a specific set of NPCs, it's pretty clear that they gave it some thought. It would have taken very little time or effort to add the item to the game world for the player if they had wanted the player to have it.

I'm not even sure if they ever questioned if they would give the players that item. Maybe they didn't think about. That's fine by me since there are a million more important things in this game. But I still want the robe :P

It does seem wrong that you cant even steal the robes, even with perks that allow you to steal worn clothing. Are they painted on?

Aye. That's the only thing I miss from when I used to game on PC. Console command... I could have myself a nice robe from the Greybeards by now.

I feel like Beth dropped the ball with robes in general I mean the robes look ok visually the best looking ones are either unobtainable (psjic, graybeard) enchanted (DB, MD cult) and there's three pairs of unenchanted robes and hoods.

Aye, I feel so too. I don't know why but it seems they didn't put very much focus on the attire part of the game. Or at least the players part. Hopefully this will be added in with the first DLC.

It's a worn down robe. If it was something special about it I would understand. As the Dragonborn I feel (IMO) that I should get one. Or make one myself. Also it's nothing special about it so it would be very plausible to find one, or similar, in the wild, shops, on a dead monk/mage.
Erm... only because it doesn't have any enchantments on it, it doesn't mean it's not special.
It IS special!
And no, only because you are Dovahkiin doesn't mean you are allowed to do as you please and have everything at your disposal.
I'm actually glad that player doesn't have access to the Greybeard robes - you are not a Greybeard, you don't get one (simple as that).

I'm 22 years old. This post is about a robe in a video game. If you feel the need to make this thread about how parents raising their kids then go find something else to do.
He has a point, actually.

That's your opinion. Everyone can't be the same

No. He really don't have a point. At all.
Also, it's a very ignorant statement to make.
