I guess Bethesda really don`t read or care what people ask f

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:09 am

All the improvements we`ve been asking for: 1st person views on horses, better, less bugged Followers, better skill sets, etc, etc...

And what are we getting for 1.5?

Kill Cams for Magic and firing arrows? Do they really think this is what makes Skyrim a success? Ethereal Gloss?

Yes, that`ll make all the difference, Bethesda. Thankyou.

Are there any more things we can request that you`ll totally ignore?

Hmm, kill cams for ranged was a very requested feature. It's also probably a fairly easy one to implement and test, which is probably why we're getting it so soon after game jam. How about you don't look a gift horse in the mouth and patiently wait for freebies which are more to your liking?

Not everybody wants all of those things. If Bethesda tried to do what every one of us wants they would never get anything done.

Besides, we have not yet seen all of the patches (and DLC). It's too early to write off what they have done and what they have not done.

I never had the impression they keep these forums up to collect feedback. They think we are a tiny little piece of the fanbase and we're here just to make the game more visible for newcomers.

Oh Bethesda reads the forums quite a bit.
That doesn't mean that they share your opinion about importance of certain features.

For whatever reason that was not there before won't be there now if it isn't. If it gets there in future is possibility, but they may choose something else for other reasons.
What are the reasons? Hah, only they know.

Personally, I don't care about stuff you mentioned (perks should get heavily rebalanced before getting anything added IMO) and while I don't care about killcams that much either, I still like them more than the stuff you mentioned.
So, here we also have the fact that every of their countless fans has different wishes and priorities. Should every one of them complain because Betehsda doesn't agree with them?

I don't know anything about bethesdas inner workings, but from my experience with a different company, the bug-fixing/current-feature-modifying developers and the new-feature-adding developers are likely completely different teams. Just because one team worked on kill cams doesn't mean another team isnt working on bug fixes and other requests.

There's nothing stopping Bethesda tying any extra content to future DLC to aid their marketing of it or making you pay with a standalone game enhancement DLC. If they add any game enhancements for free via a patch I think they should be thanked for doing so even if what they offer isn't what you personally would have chosen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGIgXeGC6Dgopefully more stuff from that video makes it into the game then. It looks awesome. A lot of it I would choose in a heartbeat.

I have a strong suspicion that what we have been told we are getting in patch 1.5 is incredibly skilled PRing to get us all talking and hopeful. Or there will be a series of patches implementing that stuff.

Same for Bethesda. When OB was released, the team split into Fallout 3 design team, DLC team and Patch team if I remember right (there were definitely 3 teams).
Same for Skyrim no doubt: Fallout 4 design team, DLC producing team and patch team.

Chances are this was one of the simplest things to add, as it might use similar code to Fallout 3.

Anyway, as said above, don't complain about a free addition. This is probably one of those minor add-ons to keep us interested between the bigger stuff they will release.

This is the same complaint on every game forum for every game. The question is are they really ignoring the vast majority or are they just not doing what you personally would like ?.

---1st person views on horses---

Those of you on the PC that want first person view on horse put this in your Skyrim.ini under the [Camera] section
fVanityModeMaxDist=6000.0000
fVanityModeMinDist=10.0000
fMouseWheelZoomMinDelta=0.0050
fMouseWheelZoomSpeed=0.8000
fMouseWheelZoomIncrement=0.01
fMinCurrentZoom=0.001
fActorFadeOutLimit=-100
fOverShoulderHorseAddY=88.0000
fOverShoulderHorsePosZ=80.0000
fOverShoulderHorsePosX=0.0000

Rest of stuff I don't know about.

Why bugfixing the game if you can make new shiny stuff?

... the amazing thing is... it works.

*sigh* here we go again...
It is addition to the bugfixes whose most of job was done during the Game Jam week and likely finished by members of the the DLC team

NO Developer EVER puts the entire team into the patching team. Hell, putting too many people into bugfixing team will just create a mess that will negate all the fixes.
In translation: additional content does not affect patching process in any way (unless you are a small company or something adn your game didn't sell that well so you are limited by the budget).

Developer also should not release an unfinished game or should have a functioning QA.

Is this .ini tweek any good? Does the camera get all wonky to the point where it gives you motion sickness, or is it stable?

I might try this if the camera works just as good (if not better) than the 1st person horseriding perspective in Oblivion.

It's not like kill cams are the ONLY thing being added in the patch ... Jut one aspect of the patch. Besides, they're just as requested as changes to followers and horses.

Well, there are quite a few who simply agrue "x feature svcks they did it better in Morrowind" or "we will rather have a broken system with many numbers than a working system with few"(I am not kidding I have seen people argue for that) so I would pay little heed to those kind of arguments. Sadly those overshadow the constructive critticism since they are louder.
