"They didn't add the things I wanted most so that must mean they don't care about their real fans!"

okay.

But the fact that they are adding things from game jam to free patches is a good thing, it means we are probably going to get other things they showed us.

I hope so. I saw spears in that video......

I also caught a glimpse of a whip or chain weapon, but they didn't have text with it so it might be unfinished or not planned to come out. I hope though, both would be super badass. spell combos also tickled my pickle quite a bit

For goodness sake ! Why all the whining and moaning ? Killcam is just one thing mentioned... Just one, I for one am more than happy to see this brought in. I Loved it in the FO series and am excited to hear its coming to TES.

The thing is Bethesda can't please us all every time. On this occasion things have gone the way I like.
This isn't the same on every occasion. I imagine the reasoning for this is that all our opinions differ some what to the next person.

Be thankful for what we are being GIVEN regardless of whether its what you would have liked or not. Its free.

Why would i be thankful for something i rather not have but is forced upon me?

Killcams I don't care about, at all. I'f it's included or not. Bopa06, I'm guessing it will be a ESP that you can check/uncheck in the launcher just like the high res texture pack they released. I could be wrong though.

They don't have to watch the forums, and they certainly don't have to post about it to reassure you. Developers have posted on threads before.

And to respond to the OP: Kill Cams were requested quite a bit on this forum. Just because they didn't make your Top Ten Petty Complaints list doesn't mean that they weren't a topic of discussion.

Read title, saw OP was Blade Watcher, opened thread, wasn't surprised.

You seem a bit, schizophrenic, one moment you are praising the game and Bethesda, the next you are dogging them.
Make your mind up, pick a side and stick to it. (There isn't any sides to pick anyway, but atleast try and pick one state of mind and stay consistent)

And should they post such a thing every time someone whines about them not reading/caring? The devs post in many threads, sometimes just to say that they notified the rest of the team about a particular bug/problem. Searching for their post is better proof of them caring than having a 100 post saying "we're watching the forums". Also, people would start posting things like "the devs are lying - a mod told them they should post here and they did!!11!!"...

I don't expect them to add every single thing that's requested, cause wtf let's be realistic here; that's not gonna happen.

It does trouble me though that what they're acting like will be a "great treat" for us is....a cinematic. An over the top cinematic reminiscent of Mortal Kombat, a game that has no actual substance and only ever gets purchased because people get a guilty pleasure out of watching the over-the-top violence.
What's worse, the cinematics have a downside too thanks to their genius coding of when to TRIGGER a cinematic. We all know the frustration of being hit with a killing blow before you even got a chance to block or to dodge, well now we might get them with arrows and mages aswell. Now, how the HELL does RANGED ATTACKERS having a chance to deliver a killing blow on you sound like a good idea? You'll get auto-killed all the time....Really pray that enemies don't get to use these as well....

My point? Updates like this make me worry about Bethesda's priorities. They seem completely ass-backwards, imo. They're focusing on the exact things that make my jaw drop; not because I think they're amazing, but because I think they're amazingly stupid to focus on and I can't believe Bethesda actually IS focusing on them instead of taking the time to design better perks, or yknow, give the game an actual [censored] plot.

Although i disagree with Blade Watcher & feel that his thread has overstepped the line between sensible criticism & petty griping i'm not going to give him a hard time about it, All this whiner this moaner that & the glorious misuse of the term "self entitlement" insults being thrown about is not a credit to anybody, He is passionate about the TES series as most of us are & i respect his views even though i disagree with a lot of them, he is at least polite about it unlike some of the vitriol being thrown his way.

That said, It's great that Bethesda are actively adding things into skyrim & shows that they are commited to making it great for anybody, I'm not a fan of the kill cams but i'm a fan of developers giving a damn & adding to their game.
Whether it be kill cams or blow up rubber dolls, Actively being involved in giving your fans that something extra is to be applauded & not picked apart.

Bethesda have also released an official texture pack & have improved performance on the PC by a magnitude in a few patches, The Bethesda of old would not have done that & the change of dynamic is a good one, Long may it continue.

You read quite a bit into their promise of ranged kill cams. And since enemy kill cams never happen unless the blow is actually going to kill the player, the only way you'd get a ranged kill cam would be if you were already at low health.

As for your point: I'm pretty sure the game has a plot, and I have a feeling the writers who spent the better part of the last 5 years working on this game agree with me. That's why they might ignore requests to "give the game an actual [puppies and rainbows] plot." I know I would.

Considering many of the things I've seen asked for on game forums, I generally consider this to be a good thing.

(After all, going along with "what the people want" is what gave us the pile of junk called Broken Steel.)

But don't you know?

The developers aren't supposed to spend their time coming up with new ideas on their own. They're supposed to spend all day sifting through the endlessly useless and incomprehensible idea threads to find the occasional gem of a thought that might actually be something they want to implement in a patch.

:wavey:

We're keeping an eye on you guys. As we've said before, we're committed supporting the Skyrim community.

And we do account for player feedback -- whether it's in our forums, our blog, or elsewhere on the web. We don't necessarily take specific ideas or suggestions into consideration for new content, but we do notice when there's things that stand out. A good example was after we released Fallout 3. There was a large outcry of folks wanting to have a larger level cap and have the ability to play beyond the main quest. We knew it was a big thing and we made those changes for the game with Broken Steel.

We've got some exciting stuff planned and we can't wait to share it with everyone.

There are no patch notes. There was a "leak" (an update e-mail from BethBlog about a post that was immediately taken down) that's been publicized on some sites. The only piece of information from the e-mail was that Kill Cams were coming.

Really I just wanna see the build your own house feature more then anything in the game jam.

Im Xbox user and I cant rely on mods to get cool "out of city" houses.

Not everybody wants all of those things. If Bethesda tried to do what every one of us wants they would never get anything done.

Besides, we have not yet seen all of the patches (and DLC). It's too early to write off what they have done and what they have not done.

^This. The very (veeery) vocal few people on the forums do not account for the average Elder Scrolls player. The beauty of mods is (and Blade Watcher, I just finished reading through a thread in which you valiantly defended mods and modders) people are allowed to alter game mechanics to their personal liking. I don't see the reasoning behind creating a sarcastic thread about your dislike for the new patch. You have access to mods, you'll be fine.

I didnt care for melee kill cams... yet theyre forced upon the player.

If Fallout NV had no toggle for those slow motion shots.... people would have been furious. WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE JUST ACCEPT THIS FORCED GIMMICKY CRAP?

It does nothing at all for gameplay... Surely I cant be the only one who's bored of seeing my 1000'th wolf get bodyslammed?

SURELY I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE!

I'm not very excited to see the inclusion of kill cams for magic and bows. If I weren't on an Xbox I'd find a mod to remove them. C'est la vie..

I'm with you. :P

I had to turn off the kill cam in Fallout New Vegas after a while too. Hell, I'm sure anyone who ever traveled with Boone turned them off eventually; dunno how many times he killed something half a mile away and the dramatic kill cam made me think I'd suddenly died.
In Skyrim I don't think the kill cams are as startling or time consuming as in New Vegas, but they are poorly done. They don't react to player actions very well, meaning you often feel locked in place, facing an auto-death you could've easily avoided.

All the improvements we`ve been asking for: 1st person views on horses, better, less bugged Followers, better skill sets, etc, etc...

And what are we getting for 1.5?

Kill Cams for Magic and firing arrows? Do they really think this is what makes Skyrim a success? Ethereal Gloss?

Yes, that`ll make all the difference, Bethesda. Thankyou.

Are there any more things we can request that you`ll totally ignore?
The community has requested A DOVAKIIN'S LOOTHOUSE worth of things that bethesda has given us!!! How could you say that? Any updates from here out are extras in my eyes, im incredibly greatful for the amount of content and things they're added that the community has been asking for.

Thank you bethesda!
