Having any issues with 1.4

4 hours= no lag when before the patch I lagged out in 12 mins. No noticeable changes in graphics or gameplay (at least for me)

Playing level 6 Mage (New Character) During the quest for "Nettlebane" the game froze and locked up while battling the Hargreave witch whilst I was casting a flame spell. I had to remove the disc and restart the console. So there are still moments where it is possible to freeze the PS3. I have Auto-Saves completely turned off btw.

Save file went from 13Mb to 11Mb after the patch and the frame dropping has improved, not done too much exploring but can't see how the Thalmore Embassy is now accessible unless there is now a key hidden somewhere.

One graphical oddity I noticed post patch was in Embershard Mine (Near Riverwood), if you have a weapon out or fists in view and look at the water (1st person) then the game renders a horrible bright up around your weapons / limbs as if a reflection layer is present UGH!.

Don't know if it happens elsewhere but I'll keep an eye out.

I have played about 8 hours on the new patch so far.

The good:

-No freezes at all. Used to get about one per hour, at least.
-Far less lag
-I have become Thane of Riften, Finally.
-Bookshelves work
-Manequins work
-I was able to buy my way out of trouble in Markarth

The Bad:

-Imperial civil war quest still broke. Cant get Legate to give me next mission
-Menus got slower
-Still carrying around useless quest items. (don't really care about this)
-Weird-Enchanting tabletops now glowing, lol

Just had my 2nd freeze. This time, when an Arch Cryomancer summoned some ice spikes on me, and I tried to heal. I felt the rumble in my controller for quite some seconds after it froze, but then it died out as well.

I've had the patch for 2 days now and everything was running smooth until this morning, the game locks up for about 5 second every 30 seconds or so. I'm going to try reinstalling but if that doesn't work I'll delete my game data and play without the patch.

I have had two infinite loading screens upon dying and have experienced minor Frame rate dips at the beginning of some battles and getting constant 20-25 FPS when in the sewers under Riften.

I have also noticed some frame rate dips when in forests, but nothing that has made the game unplayable again. I started a new character with the 1.4 patch since I hadn't played since November. My character is currently level 15 and my save file is just under 5,000 kb.

So far my game is still playable, but I'm not optimistic it will stay that way. I have not had any broken quests yet, but I haven't done many at this point.

Wanted to report that after installing 1.4 on ps3 my skyrim is unplayable. Every time I load up any save file a message appears and it says I can't place any more books on this shelf but I am nowhere near a bookshelf. Here is a pic below of my situation and any tips to fix this would be appreciated.

http://i40(.)tinypic(.)com/330y9uc.jpg

sorry for the low res pic only had my ipod with me and for those wondering the text is in spanish. Oh and had to post it like that because I don;t have permission to post links.

I have the exact same problem, all of my saves do this. I know people have to wait a bit to allow the game to sort itself, but this can't be as the game is literally stuck on the screen.

I don't get to play much, so my time invested is substantial to me. To walk away and start over is not an option for me, I'll be playing something else instead. I'm quite sad, but at least Mass Effect is out soon, see ya Skyrim.

After the patch the quality of graphics is low, and the arcane enchanter, the table, is glowing on a strange blue collor, i see only the collor, i can't see the center of table. The same problem of Sgt_Deanbo has post above.

Nothing much so far. File size went down. The only thing bugging me, is when I start a new quest is usually shows on my map. It won't show for a few minutes or so. I hope that makes sense.

Yeah, my framerate is still mediocre. Most of the time, it's somewhere in the mid to low 20s, in certain areas and dungeons it dips into the teens, and it only ever seems to maintain itself in the upper 20s or about 30 in small interiors and the glacier area in the north. In addition, I did notice the arcane enchanter table glowing a light blue as described above and I had a bit of a freezing issue while creating a new autosave in transitioning between two cells.

Had this kind of issue with a bunch of textures before 1.3. Now it's happening again. Saving, quitting the game and reloading fixes this.

Edit: the glowing arcane enchanter thing. And low res textures were always there, they just come and go.

I've frozen twice and had to restart. Once while trying to save, the other while trying to load. All in about 5 hours of play not straight either.

I've just lost a bunch of books from my bookshelf at Breezehome. I had some books already placed, but haven't purchased any decorations, after I bought all the decorations, went back, activated the bookshelf and they went kaput

Nothing special was lost, but I got confused anyway.

Worked great only 1 freeze game.

My experience so far:
  • My save file is 2MB down
  • The items from the bards quests (Pantea’s Flute, Finn’s Lute & Rjorn’s Drum) are still in my inventory and marks as quest items but the quest is long done. Can't get rid of them
  • Killing the leader in Uttering Hills Camp is still not possible (there is a marker but nobody there)
  • Still didn’t get Blood on the Ice
  • I retrieved the Dwemer Puzzle Cube but I can’t give it to Delvin.

But I can play again, so i'm a happy gamer.

Isn't there some place where we can sent bug reports to bethesda? Or will they still find our reports on the forums & blog?

Completely deleted everything Skyrim-related from my PS3 before reinstalling the data and the patch, and of course started a new character.

So far, only one issue:

When completing the Companions quest that leads to a rather striking personal change, I came out of that with two swords, a waraxe, and an ebony shield equipped. Visibly, my character only had the axe- the equppied-item flags were in my inventory only. Upon changing everything back to how it was, my shield showed that it was equipped, but was invisible on my character. Weapon sheathed, unsheathed, actively blocking or not, I couldn't see my shield. The only time it would show up was when I tried to drop it; picking it back up did not fix the problem.

It no longer blocks damage at all, even though my character does the animation for bringing the shield up.

Dropped that shield, and replaced it with a daedric, finally- and it works fine.

So far, I haven't had any lag or freezing issues, but I am only 13 hours in.

I also had an issue with a Giant Frostbite Spider spawning mysteriously INSIDE a Forsworn tent at a Redoubt. The spider was so large that it couldn't leave the tent, and while it was inside colliding with everything my FPS went way down. Like pre-patch down.

Once I killed the spider, everything returned to normal. Well, except for the massive dead outdoorsman spider firmly wedged in a tent.

Update: i'm six hours into my new character, everything is good but what i notice when i try to sneak slowly i can in first person the character has random seizures or shakes when i'm moving. if i go into first person and slightly walk like i'm sneaking and look around and thats when it happens, his hands begin to shake with his weapons like there is an earthquake but its at random times.

Edit: sorry, this is all while crouching also.

I have this happen occasionally when trying to sneak slow. Even before the patch.

Okay, so after playing Skyrim all weekend, I'm not as satisfied as I was at 1st. Here is what I've noticed so far.

I never had any graphics issue with my game. (And I'm just about to hit 600 hours logged) But now my Arcane tables glow bright blue along with various other items that include:
Attunement Sphere - Glows red
Volendrung - Always pulsed red but now is also bright white
Nightingale Hood - Turns grayish white and looks stupid now
Dawnbreaker - Glows brighter than the sun (or a re-spawned Nirnroot)

These are the only items I've noticed so far but I never had any of these graphic problem until after the latest patch.

Another issue I never had - I can no longer trade items with Lydia. Everything is blacked out and I get the "Items are too heavy" message. I can't even give her a ring now. I can tell her to pick things up but cannot trade things with her anymore at all.

I didn't have much of any lag for the 1st ten or so hours after the patch. But after playing yesterday, the lag slowly started to creep back and now it's almost back to the way it was before the patch. Can barely run through Whiterun or Riften without all the stuttering.

Still can't get "Repairing the White Phial" to trigger. And I've tried everything I can think of.

But hey, the manequins and bookshelves work right!?

After you sleep in Whiterun, check your active effects menu. Often well rested will be in effect even though it doesn't tell you that you have it when you wake up.

I checked the Active Effects menu and indeed it shows "Well Rested." Thanks for your help!

Prior to the patch I would freeze once or twice an hour and the lag would kick in after about three hours of play in one sitting. My save file was around 13 MB with ~186 hours played

Post patch, my save file dropped to 12 MB. I played for about eight consecutive hours with no freezes. A couple of hours in, I turned all of the auto saves back on just to see how that works, and, while the loading screens were considerably longer than with the auto saves turned off, they were generally under 30 seconds long.

I experienced lag once when I used the fire breath shout outside on a frostbite spider. I tried shouting several other times with no discernable lag.

All my bookshelves, mannequins, and weapon racks appear to be working now.

I had two glitches:
  • All my bookshelves in Breezehome were completely filled. When I opened them, it said I could add several more books to each shelf. I emptied them and started placing the books back. By the time I'd placed all the books in my inventory, I had filled only the shelves in the alchemy room and placed 2 books on the shelves in the main room, so I lost 30+ books.
  • If I place any weapons on either the far right or left slot in the weapon rack in the basemant of Proudspire Manor, I can't go back and pick them up. I'm pretty sure I read someone else had the same issue.
While not so much a glitch, I did notice shadows popping in and out in the woods around Riften.

Otherwise, play has been great other than known issues like the instruments stuck in my inventory.

But you know what? After shelving the game for the past month waiting for this patch, I'm not in the least bit excited to play it anymore. Good effort on the patch but too late.

I can confirm system freeze does happen with patch 1.4

I started the game for the first time.
PS3 Slim 160gb, close to but less than 1 year old, 300gb free space left
Difficulty: Master
Character Level: 11
Save File Size: 4085kb
Hours played: 26:48:08
Lock-ups: (need to take disc out for ps3 to auto detect/reboot on itself after 5 to 10 seconds)
1. In my time of need quest, try to choke point kill bandits at a tunnel entry(right before the open area with tables) in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Swindler%27s_Den, system locks up same place twice. Third time, charged right in and played through that segment.
2. riding horse outside Whiterun near western watch tower, random testing galloping, you can easily see the game has trouble painting the graphics as you go through the world.
This is sad, first horse, game already locked up after a test ride of 5 minutes, about 1 minute on gallop game froze. (no horse for me in this game for now it looks like)

Thoughts:
I'm only 4mb in. Skyrim with 1.4 feels better than the trashy new vegas experience, which I actually played/finished shortly after that game's launch date.

The lock ups still pisses me off. Fix this bethesda.
