Having any issues with 1.4

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:19 pm

Yes, there are a few active effect that do this but still actually work. Like Prowlers Prophit and Esberns Potion. Those don't even show up in your active effects but they still work. At least they do in my game.

Ditto for me. Prowler's Profit doesn't show up in my list, but I'm drowning in gems nonetheless. It's definitely in effect.

Did you follow the advise for downloading the patch that was put up by the mods?

Followed everything but the last 2 steps (I hadn't realised waiting any time in the game may make a difference)

But I do have the one save from before the patch left so I may try again and hope it rights itself.

Thanks for the advice :-)

My character is only level 20, and my save file was under 10mb. This is on PS3.

Before 1.4:
-I'd have occasional lag when accessing the magic/items/map/level up menu. It was never more than a few seconds and it didn't impact gameplay much.
-NO other problems

Post 1.4:
-I get VERY noticeable lag when accessing corpses.
-I had a couple of corpses fall into the walls/rocks next to them, so that I could not search them. This never happened before.
-I am having occasional response issues with some combat controls, where my inputs are flat out ignored.
-I got a full-fledged system freeze for the first time ever in this game.

Basically, all the sorts of problems everyone else said they had before 1.4 that I never saw? Yeah, now they're happening to me with 1.4. As soon as the patch went in, these issues immediately began for me.

If he dies / you kill him without having sold the amulet to him beforehand, the strange amulet will just be stuck in your inventory. Nothing you can do about it that I'm aware of.

Right on. Sell it to him first. Then after you kill him you can take it back and it won't get stuck in your inventory. It only gets stuck if you don't sell it to him first. I forgot where I had read that. If I hadn't read that I probably would have kept it and been stuck with it in my inventory.
So in the end, you get money for it and then you get it back too! :)

I know right? I got more flawless diamonds in one dungeon after getting Prowlers Profit then I did in the whole game combined. I came out of that dungeon with 25 to 30 of each flawless gem and around the same amount of each regular gem. To bad you get all these cool perks when you don't really need them anymore. I have over 500,000 septims now with nothing to spend them on at all. And I didn't even sell my gems yet. lol

LOL, same here. I got so many gems in Forelhost with PP active that I had to load my follower (pack mule) up with them too just to get them home. I just throw them in a chest now. Will probably unload them once I've invested in a merchant. For the time being they're just additional "stuff".

About the amulet, there's a dude in Windhelm who will buy it, have you tried that? I sold mine to him, but it was before I confronted the dude.

I completed that mission, and that includes killing the dude (the butcher/murderer). The fact I can't drop the amulet is quite annoying.

Yep. Restarted my PS3, let the game sit for a few minutes post-patch, did a "wait", etc. No dice. My HD has 15GB free. If that's not enough, then they need to update their system requirements. Long story short, my game seems FUBAR'd now.

On a related note:
-They need to consolidate their tips into one sticky. "PS3 Tips to Try" and "Important Information on Patch 1.4" should be a single post.
-They need to put this info in a patch install note within the actual game. Expecting console players to find this forum for those notes that basically say "oh yeah, the patch won't actually work until after you do XXXXXX" isn't really appropriate and is setting them up for even more frustrated gamers. Bethesda is treating consoles like they're PCs. I'm used to it since I am a PC gamer (though I'd argue that PC gamers just put up with this stuff, rather than it actually being acceptable), but most console gamers won't ever see this forum. Why isn't this stuff in an "Announcements" section within the game? And if the game needs a certain amount of free HD space to run efficiently, they need to reflect that in the system requirements.

Yeah, I know they're trying and all, but we held up our end of the bargain when we paid them. They need to work on their logistics and communication bigtime (and yeah, better QA, but that's a dead horse). I remember struggling with Bethesda with games like Daggerfall on PC. It was frustrating then, but to treat consoles the same way is pretty indefensible. It's not ok.

Thanks. Hopefully Bethesday will get their act together and fix the bug with "undropable" quest items once a quest is complete - that is not the only thing cluttering my inventory...

I found the trader in Riverwood has 11K gold available. I have been dumping my gems on him... when he is out of money, I go upstairs in the shop, sleep for two days, sell some more and so on.

How the hell? 11K?

Even my fences only carry 4000. Sure you didn't mean 1100? If not I'd like to know how you managed that?

BLA BLA BLA BLA= everyone unless you delete all your old save files and start anew. Then any problems you have had are mostly going to be there still. So try this, buy a memory stick or if you have one. SAVE ALL YOUR SKYRIM SAVE FILES prepatch 1.4 to IT. Then Delete all the save files to any game prior to patch 1.4. Then start a new Character and see if you are experiencing the same problems. IF NOT THEN ALL YOU’RE THIS AND THAT IS= NOTHING.
do you think someone want to start a new character of such? If you were the person/nerd/geek than you"ll understand.

I couldn't agree more. It seems very wrong that game producers can get away with selling buggy products - in any other situation we'd take a defective product back to the store and get our money back. And here we are: begging the makers to fix the bugs that should not have been there in the first place. For those out there accusing us of "whining": we are claiming our consumer rights, forfeit yours if you must but leave us alone to defend ours! Power to the people!

That quest for the book (it's variable - you can be sent to find one from a long list of books) is just broken. I found The Waters of Oblivion before the quest sent me to find the same book, and now it's just stuck in my inventory even though the quest successfully completed. Likewise for the Bard's College items - Finn's Lute, Pantaea's Flute and Rjorn's Drum. If you find an item before a quest sends you to find it, you often can't get rid of it no matter what you do. It seems to be a common theme across several different quests. After you sleep in Whiterun, check your active effects menu. Often well rested will be in effect even though it doesn't tell you that you have it when you wake up.

Thanks for your reply. I'll check the active effects menu. Strange that the words "You are Well Rested" no longer appear on the top left of the screen after I sleep.

This happened to Me when I started too but after making a new hard save, it stopped. Try making a clean, new save then restarting your PS3, it worked for Me.
Mine did that book thing too. I just let it do what it had to do for about 10 minutes. Then I saved and rebooted. My game is running awesome now. No lag at all after 3 hours. I couldn't even play for 20 minutes before.

ok thx to the both of you will try what you guys have done. thx again.

-Having random crashes,

??? What??? are you sure you are reading the save file right. About that time you should only be about 4000(KB) MAX and not in MB. If its MB and not KB then something is not right.....

4.3 MB = ~4300 KB. Sometimes the system reports the file in MB and sometimes in KB, no idea why.

The save file is not so big and the save file grows not by the played time but for what you do in the game, like killing, looting and etc...

the save file display in the game is in kb I just say in mb is the same.....

Does not
1,024 kilobytes to = 1 megabyte

So that would be approximately 4.4MB then.

OK so my approximation was off by a whopping tenth of a megabyte. What's your point exactly?

I just updated about 2 hours ago now and my game hasn't lagged or frozen yet but the size of my save hasn't decreased at all. The only problem I've had is some of the wooden houses outside whiterun glow a gold color at night. All in all I'm happy with the patch, It's odd how the patch is working for some people and not changing anything for others.
