Having any issues with 1.4

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:27 pm

All you people who get game freezes... go into your saved data folder on your PS3 and delete any old save files and autosaves.
Only keep your most recent save game file... that fixed the issue for me before the 1.4 patch came along.

I will continue to do this from time to time, doesn't hurt keeping your memory free anyway. lmk if it works for ya!
are you serious about this? could you play for a couple more days to confirm this? I don't want to delete my files for nothing I'm very close to my save files

Deleting old files does not help freezing. Freezing is within the save file itself. I say this with personal experience and experience with Bethesda service.

"Discerning the Transmundane" still seems to be buggy. I completed it (before the update), yet it's incomplete.

"Reparing The Phial" was fixed, but I think "Transmundane" is a main story quest?

Wanted to report that after installing 1.4 on ps3 my skyrim is unplayable. Every time I load up any save file a message appears and it says I can't place any more books on this shelf but I am nowhere near a bookshelf. Here is a pic below of my situation and any tips to fix this would be appreciated.

This happened to Me when I started too but after making a new hard save, it stopped. Try making a clean, new save then restarting your PS3, it worked for Me.

I still can't get it to trigger.

Mine did that book thing too. I just let it do what it had to do for about 10 minutes. Then I saved and rebooted. My game is running awesome now. No lag at all after 3 hours. I couldn't even play for 20 minutes before.

The weapons rack in Whiterun doesn't work.

Besides that the patch has been great. No crashing and little to no lag. I'm a happy camper.

I read somewhere, I think on Wikia, that it's just for decorative purposes and NOT for actual use. I do remember seeing one in the house, though, now that you mention it.

Okay...apparently the Wikia page has been updated since I looked at it last. It's officially listed as a bug for the PS3 there. Funny, since it was the first house I had, I didn't even know anything about weapon racks and how to use them since they didn't work in Breezehome. I can't say I noticed them until I bought the house in Markarth. Weird. I must be losing my perception in my old (middle) age.

I can't test at the moment, but there actually was a weapon rack just next to the door.

And it was fully functional, a bow and a mace are displayed in mine .

Copy paste of my post in other thread.

Things i noticed.

For me personally, this patch looks like another bandaid.

Nirnroot glows still stacking...

At first my fps was smooth,no stuttering or the like, but after 4 hours or so it's creeping back in,sprinting on my horse makes the jerking and stuttering very noticeable again for instance, and i still get occasional stop frames in solitude.

My newest character(and only now)was saved at 14mb,the patch and restart with new manual save took it down to 12,but it's creeping up again,up now to 13mb and continually rising with each new save...admittedly it creeps up slower than it did pre patch but still going up nonetheless.

Definitley they've played around with the graphics,in my peripherals things do look less sharp and less in focus, with washed out colours, but that's a good thing imo, anything that helps keep lagging and stuttering to a minimum can't be bad.

Load times the same for me,as well as waiting 24 hours not being any faster...or slower.

After a total of 9 hours played no crash or freeze yet(fingers crossed)Oh and least the display of mannequins and bookcases work for me now.

Still though,it seems to me to be a bandaid, like i said, the issues are coming back into my game, slowly but surely...guess i'll be here in a weeks time complaining all over again, can't help but feel annoyed that they didn't take the opportunity to spend a day or 2 on shortening the time it takes for trash to clean up,and the nirnroot glows stacking ):

I bet Bethesda is reading this topic and saying "oh for f**ks sakes, i thought we fixed this game". Not happy

I've also noticed some graphics issues after installing 1.4...I seem to notice a lot of "flickering" on textures in the distance when moving. Noticed this especially in Riften with all the wooden fences along the waterways. Shadows remain to be blocky and pixelated. Kind of annoying, but other than that it seems to be running pretty smooth.

Remember guys, the 1.4 isn't the last patch for vital fixes. They are still looking into other issues yet. If there are any problems with the 1.4, we can only hope the 1.5 will address them...

Played for 2 hours and haven't had any lag issues. Thanks Bethesda!
In the Solitude home, the weapons racks now allow me to hang multiple weapons on the same handle, but I can't remove them.

Still can't complete the misc. quest for The Old Ways book, for the book guy at the College. I already had the book before the quest, but the treasure chest still has the pointer over it even though it's empty.

Still can't get Well Rested in either the home in Whiterun or Solitude since Lydia was killed. I'm not a werewolf.

come on seriously? alot of us have waited months just to play the game if 1.4 works for a few days then we'll wait a few more months for a new patch this is ridiculous Bethesda should make sure all the gamebreaking bugs are fixed and then release patches for minor bugs not gamebreaking bugs not to mention how long it took for them to fix this bug we cannot let them go on if this keeps up

I had my first freeze now when trying to load a previous save. Was in riverwood, and tried to talk to that elf with the bow (forgot his name), but he said nothing and i couldn't select a dialogue option. Though if I reloaded it would work but i froze, got black screen while music still playing. anyone else got this? has never happened before patch 1.4.

Did you follow the tips for letting the patch do its thing? Especially the sitting around for a bit thing to let the game catch up? Maybe it was processing a dead script on that character when you were trying to activate him.

No but with a fresh install there's also the possibility that it hasn't finished installing yet. The game install data ends up at over 4 GB, but the actually "installer" only gets about half that done, the rest is installed while the game is running. Which I think is a problem because people quite frequently run into bugs as a direct result of that not completely installing right off the bat. Not to mention the chaos that ensues if you turn off your system before it has completely installed all the data.

I've started from scratch -- nuked it from orbit, so to speak -- and am annoyed to have had the game freeze on a loading screen shortly after getting to Whiterun. I thought the patch was supposed to help long-term play? I've only been playing for three hours on a fresh install/character and it's already freezing me out.

I'm still getting battle music infrequently. Is this something intentional that was introduced with 1.3? It seems like since 1.3 I've gotten much less battle music, often none at all. Granted, I was level 57. Maybe the game simply decided none of the weaker enemies deserved battle music in my company? But even with my new level 1 character, I'm getting no battle music during most fights. What gives?

Whiterun seems to run same as ever; I'm getting the same hickups in framerate that I've always gotten there. But then I'm on a fresh install. If the game continues to run like this without decreasing into utter muck, I suppose we're expected to thank our lucky stars.

After having played the 1.4 version of Skyrim on a friend's PC earlier today, I'm surprised by just how poorly this game really runs on the PS3.

What do you suggest I do at this point? must i delete it and start again, however then first wait a bit for stuff to install? I wanna get the best performance I can!
