Heavies VS Lights

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:07 pm

First, i know this may be impractical, improbable, whatever its not the point. I wana know, in your opinions, if one side was all light, and the other all heavy, which one would come out on top after everything was said and done?

The Heavies, since theyre powerful and deadly, or the Lights, with their speed and guile.

This is just a curiosity out of boredom. Its a 2 sided pole, one or the other. Sure maybe theyre even, but only 1 side can win right? not every one's a winner, so who is it?

i think that lights will be good at hitting enemies while they are focusing on other targets like heavies and mediums but without a distraction a team of heavies would tear them apart not to mention that a team of all one body type and one of a different would render the operative (which i assume will be where lights excel) useless as it disguises as a enemy but you would still look like a light

Not exactly right. You'd look like a heavy, but (we think) still move like a light.

Oh yeah, btw i voted heavy for the same reason you gave...

Lights, they can get to places Heavies can't go. This gives them a defensive advantage that goes beyond the hit point buff that a Heavy has.

I think a light would come out on top. They are more agile and are faster then a heavy.

But do these "vantage points," actually give the Lights an advantage, since the objectives are located in spots that EVERYONE can access. Heavies just need to wait for Lights to approach.

comes down to whose defending whose attacking. the defending team would probably win, an all light defending team would climb up to spots whch are out of reach of heavies and would arm themselves with long range weapons and move around every so often and cover the objectives. Heavy defenders would just sit in areas with lots of cover near objectives and pop out and eliminate any light coming in. Of couse its impossible to accurately predict since we dont know the actual abilities of the body types

In my opinion it's all about skill and objectives. Skilled players/teams will dominate despite the appearence. But I think the kind of objective is crucial. Do you have to defend a place or obstacle with only one small entrance? Heavies will rule, because Lights won't be able to use theire superior agility. Do you have to fight on open ground with higher and lower grounds? Lights can do some kind of guerilla and take the heavies out before they can turn around or vanish behind obstacles before payback starts.
As a matter of fact, a balanced team will alway be superior to an unbalanced one.

While the answer to this question really comes down to the skill of the players, I think that in an even match the heavies would win. The lights lack of power would prevent them from being able to take and hold objectives.

You did take into thought that the lights are in fact faster then a heavy, right? Meaning that even it close range they are quicker and can dodge a heavy. Now, I guess game-wise, the heavy takes far more damage then the light. However, if the light can avoid fire long enough to put a good amount of bullets into a heavy, hes good.

Heavies excel in groups, (more so than a group of Lights) whether it's all Heavies, or 1 Heavy on a team, so the Lights would have to out dodge and maneuver more than 1. This is not likely, unless you're Neo. Yes, at close range a Light can trump a Heavy, it's closing that gap that's the problem.
However, if the light can avoid fire long enough to put a good amount of bullets into a heavy, hes good.

That's a pretty big "if." He may take out 1 Heavy, but if he's with his team, I doubt it.

If this match were to take place, it would all depend on how the players utilize the different body types. If for discussion purposes, each team played their part perfectly, then I really don't know who would win.

I think once the game has been out for a while we should do an all heavies vs. all lights match

I dont think an outcome could truly ever be decided unless there was an bot vs bot mode were you could spectate otherwise you couldnt base it off just the body types because the players skills come into account and one team may have better players than another.

Agreed skill trumps all. Lights will be able to do objectives if they have the right ability and skills.

Yes yes, skill is 90% of the time a deciding factor, but for discussion purposes, we'd have to assume that both were playing their roll perfectly.

My thoughts exactly, i'd love to see how it turns out.

Dont forget that heavies arnt just more beastly, they also have access to ALL of the guns... The grenade launcher reduces or eliminates the advantage of towering cover (arching trajectories to hit covered targets), and mobs will be mowed down with a wide variety of pain.

I guess the real question is, could the skill implement of the lights, be enough to overcome this obstacle in the end? This would make for some interesting matches, it would probably be quite furious...

Exactly why i thought this would make an interesting discussion...

if both teams are of equal skill level, than the heavies would win. if the lights had greater skill, they have a chance

Not necessarily depending how fast lights move and how slow heavies are they may be able to run circles around them
