And let's not forget about
Spoiler
Despite NCR's pledge to support Primm, they abandon the town after their loss to Mr. House. As repayment for their NCR loyalty, Mr. House sends Securitrons to Primm to "protect" it and collect heavy taxes from its citizens.
As opposed to the NCR, who who don't send ANYONE to protect people and still take taxes?
Oh and Primm, really a strong point for the NCR there, "why don't you help Primm" "They're not in our jurisdiction".
Lovely, if the land you sit on isn't theirs and being taxed, they don't give a [censored]. If it is, they still don't give much of a [censored] but if they start losing money they might send someone to take a look.
Yeah House taxes them, but he also protects them. It's the same with Goodsprings, assuming it's safe House sends a Victor securitron back there to protect it and also to keep an eye on it. Is that really bad? No, I mean if it's peeking in their windows and setting up spyware then yeah kinda, but just keeping an eye on them in exchange for a free war machine? [censored] yeah, I'd be watched 24/7 if I got a missile launching laser shooting, grenade firing, self repairing robot who talked like a cowboy! (Who wouldn't?!)
And there's also the way he expects you to bring him that chip because of it being a contract. That however is not how contracts works, you got robbed and that's it, your contract is ended.
The Courier contract means any loss is YOUR fault and you must resecure the item. That's the contract, you don't get to lose it and just shrug and move on, if you lose the item your life is forfeit. House pays you what, triple? the original pay. You're complaining?
There's also some lack of dialog options when you talk to him. I think it would be better if you could debate with him. When you first meet him, he asks you what you think of the place, but you can only tell him you like it. You can't give a response telling him that he created an abomination, a place of sin, gamblers, prosttutes and whatever Vulpes told you about Nipton (well you can, but that option also adds 'what's not to love', so it no longer covers what I want to tell him).
There's some option for debate but yeah I would have liked the opportunity to really go into it, from the devs point of view though that's ridiculously difficult. It's a shame, I like smart people and debating, t'would be fun to try and win the house over.
Another missing option is the BOS approach, first when you meet him you should be able to inform him that his tech should be left in far more capable hands. But I also doubt that when he asks you to destroy the BOS, you can inform him you're a BOS Paladin (well if you are one, it should be an option to tell him at that point). Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't followed the House line that far yet, I'll try to find out what happens when I walk towards the Strip wearing BOS Power Armor (the faction armor, just to be clear).
Not sure about the PC but when I had Veronica in BoS armour there were a lot of comments from Freesiders and NCR about how she'd better watch it and so on. Nothing from the Strip though, no one except NCR there cared.
The BoS approach was originally present, it was removed however (likely due to making House's perfect ending too good). It can be reinstated with a mod for PC since the dialogue etc was already in the GECK.
the thought of the BoS being capable hands for technology is pretty laughable, their idea of management is shooting people, their ideal for technology is whatever can kill the most. They're not good people, they're murderers, terrorists and technophilic tribals who don't do anything that isn't written in their precious codex.
Also, I don't see much of a philosophy in House, but IMO he does rely far too much on advanced old world technology and resources, technology that he can't reproduce and resources that no longer exist. Caesar is some kind of reset, rebuilding humanity from the very beginning, not relying on modern technology. For the NCR I'd have to say they'll try to bring democracy and freedom wherever they go. In Yes Man I can see the principle of self governance.
He can reproduce it, he was the founder of RobCo, owner of REPConn, House is the only man we meet who has a semblance of a chance of giving more technology to the wasteland, if anyone can, he can. He makes it abundantly clear he's capable and thus far has entirely failed to deceive, lie or even attempt to manipulate. I believe he could start manufacturing new tech, I also think given his knowledge of the impossibly powerful RobCo he may already have the means (just not the inclination due to slightly bigger concerns...)
The NCR don't necessarily kill people, but they'll steal your land, your items, your money and just about everything in order to feed the juggernaut (or should it be giant gluttonous pig?) back home. The only reason the NCR are in the Mojave is for the dam, they want it to power their people. They kill the BoS, assault them on their land and kill them, because they want Helios One. Why? To help the world? No to give more power to McCarran and the Strip (and that only to try and re negotiate with House, laughable when he points out he has more than enough power already).
They're not good people, the guys on the ground are pretty ordinary, some are good, some are idealistic, many are there for the money, gambling, because they were bored or because they had no choice, the guys on top are revolting and in their republic they are the ones with control, absolute control.
Yes Man could go anyway, it may be a simple program to stop it taking orders.
But put it this way, where the hell is he getting the program from? Who would, in the Mojave, take the time to write a program which allows a securitron to be 'assertive'?
Only one man comes to mind, that's House, Yes Man could have written it itself, but there's no way of knowing, it seems extremely limited without direction being given.
