How Is The New Official LAA Patch Working Out?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 9:10 am

http://youtu.be/aGTRZ_a4HXQis what happened when the LAA patch was downloaded lol...

oh and yes, I deleted every trace of the unofficial LAA and refreshed ini's and even defragged/verified game cache... still did this lol

repeated process of verifying - evidently the 3rd time was lucky and the game launched

and no CTD since (HQ tex mods inc Skyrim HD, Vurts, Xenius Char enhancement, Clutter and RWT/RSE)

No crashes yet after a couple of hours of playing, and before i used the LAA mod (and now the new patch)I got crashes to desktop pretty regularly and the m issing texture bug where the world turned purple. So far, so good. :)

When SKSE gets updated, what's the best way to roll? Still launch the game via the .exe or skse_loader.exe?

lol  epic... now, to just combine it with some skyrim LMFAO shuffling and arrow in the knee footage (working on a super fast video of killing every hostile NPC with arrows in/"to" the knee with my new archer build.. plan to try and complete the MQ/Civil War with this technique lol.. just for laughs :-) )

My machine seems to be running about as smooth as possible with the Skyrim coding, just like it did with Wench's LAA patch. Now I don't have to double-click her exe anymore to load the game. If you happen to read this, Wench, thanks very much for all you do and for that ptach.

If any Bethesda devs happen to read this, thanks very much for the continued hard work.

As it was with the LAA mod, I never had a single CTD (that wasn't caused by a mod problem) in about 45 hours of gameplay. I've played with the official LAA patch for about an hour, and still haven't had a CTD (so either way, it's tough for me to tell). Problem areas like towns still impact performance, though I feel like it's a little smoother overall, and I don't get as much stuttering when turning around for the first time in a newly-rendered area.

Great to see this! Thanks Beth!

Maybe get a update to increase UgridsLoad too? ;) or is that maybe pushing it?

Smooth for me, no CTD either.

Course, I am at work and haven't tested it ;)

So we no longer need the LAA mod is what I am understanding? Hope this fixes my random CTD no error issue....My GPU has 2 GB onboard and I have 4 x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 so frankly....this game should never(unless the code is written very badly or straight wrong) have an issue with lack of memory.

Correct. TESV.exe has built in LAA now.

When SKSE gets updated, what's the best way to roll? Still launch the game via the .exe or skse_loader.exe?

No need for any loader just launch TESV.exe or SBW.exe (if you use that) or the Launcher..and SKSE will load automatically..

This was an easy fix for Bethesda, but honestly, anything PC exclusive is warmly welcomed since its a console port. I thank Bethesda for the new LAA, even if it was small.

I too am either seeing a placebo effect or my FPS and smootheness of the game went up. I am playing at 1024x768 windowed mode, and in Whiterun I see an increase for about 5-10 FPS and it is much smoother too. I suppose I shall try 1280x1024 (my LCD native resolution) non-windowed again. Recently it became too sluggish for me, so I shall see that again... Windows 7 x64, 4 GB.

EDIT: Hell yes, I can revert to 1280x1024 again, with 30-45 FPS in Whiterun I am happy puppy now.

You'll probably find that you need new graphics drivers to get SLI working properly. I know that's definitely the case with ATI/AMD, not so sure about nVidia.

So with this update do ypu literally just launch the game normally? Or do you have to enable the new LAA in some option setting?

It's automatic, nothing is needed from you except to play it

You just load the game as you normally would. That's it. The game will take care of the rest.

I've started crashing like a one-winged plane (http://www.whoisthemonkey.com/videos/31f15-flying-with-1-wing) since the patch went in after 160 hours of almost unbroken awesome :/ - incidentlly I've never needed nor used the 4gb/laa patches

New official LAA Exe works fine for me. I deletet all fallout laa launcher files and just started Skyrim normally over Steam / official launcher and played half an hour.
  • First, I dedected no problems, bugs or crashes related to the new exe
  • Second, third party tools like MSI Afterburner On Screen Display and Ati Driver no dedect running game properly
  • Third, my screenshot issue where my screenshots dont look the same when I made them ingame is gone.

An incremental update, 1.3.10, is now up on Steam that adds the following:
  • Support for 4-Gigabyte Tuning (Large Address Aware)
  • Fixed issue with accented characters not displaying properly at the end of a line
