Not necessarily. We've been getting summer storms every other day here, so the crops don't have a chance to dry out. Harvest keeps getting delayed as a result. It's ironic that the best rain in years means the best crops, but also means that it can't be harvested.
So, in case you didn't guess we've been getting a lot of storms here in south eastern Australia. One day will be hot enough to fry an egg on the roof, the next will be wet enough to swim down the road. Occasionally you can do both.
And thats why I am glad I don't live in Australia.
Actually, I also found that ironic, every year, on the news, you hear about the ozzies complaining about the endless drought in Victoria and New South Wales, and now there is flooding.
Here, though, it seems pretty consistent http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/4430862/Drought-likely-to-be-declared-in-Northland http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/4418164/Farmers-fear-another-summer-drought some drought info. Mostly sunny summer days, but today was freezing, with a pretty killer southerly.
Hoping for a cloudless Christmas day though :celebration:
Sun? In Wellington?! This is madness!
