Imperial or Stormcloaks?

It's not an unwritten contract. This isn't a democracy! This isn't a confederacy! This isn't a federation!

The Emperor has the power of life and death over every one of his subjects. They all owe him complete allegiance from the moment of their birth. Every Nord in a position of power has sworn fealty to Cyrodiil, or else he would not be in power. This is tyranny and depotism. It is not a modern political system. Everyone needs to *stop* acting like Ulfric Stormcloak is leading a national liberation movement from the twentieth century, with Woodrow Wilson and the U.N. looking on in approval. He's a traitor and his actions are illegal. Only might will make him right.
I don't know what you're ranting about since you're essentially saying the same thing. Anyway the emperor is always subject to the poisoned chalice. I believe the Talos Cult even carries at part of its oath that they get to off the emperor whenever they want, if it will make the empire stronger. Ulfric is just taking that one step further by saying that humanity needs a new figurehead and if no one else is going to do it, he has to. That's because fealty goes both ways, especially in Nord tradition.

I'm on MY side first.... Dunmer second..... Stormcloaks third.

Hated the Imperials when they were actually "doing good" for Tamriel. Now that they're just submissive lap-dogs of the Aldmeri Dominion, well... anything is too good for them.

They threaten the Dunmer for not helping in the war, and they MIGHT carry ot those threats. Also the farms didn't look like slums to me just...alien
Maybe you should check out the new gen. club, head up stairs. The nords have every reason to make those threats/accusations, because they are true. Sure, not all of the dummer who are in the grey quarter are a part of it, but enough of them frequent the club so that it could be any of them. Helping the city they have been generously excepted into with its war would go a long way to build trust. But they arent going to do that, are they?

They should be glad they have a home in the walls at all. Plus, where els in the city will they go? Other than hjerm, all the homes are taken up.Are the nords going to give them their homes now too? Sure, Ulfric could use some resources fixing the grey quater up a little, but.. oh yeah, thats right, he's using all his resources fighting a war, one that the dummer refuse to help with, and even fight against him in.

The U.N. wasnt around when wilson was alive... ah, but no matter, just feel like being an ass today and pointing that out, please take no offence.

Your point is still clear. But hey, this way of thinking has to start some time. Skyrim needs a "magna carta" type of gov, or the empire needs to get get rid of the thalmor death squads/secret arrest. Even back in these times, people could only take so much..

When Skyrim joined the Empire there was an understanding. To believe that on that day the leaders of skyrim vowed allegiance everlasting with no expectations is just absurd. Like believing in fairies and unicorns. There was an agreement. We dont know what that was because it was either an unwritten agreement, or we just have no record of it. But for sure there were expectations on both sides on that day. That is how the world works, now and always. You dont join 2 lands together without some kind of understanding. Likely they agreed to join the empire with the understanding that Skyrim would be allowed to rule itself in the olde ways as long as they supplied the empire with silver/taxes and soldiers when needed.
