Creation kit. It's the tools for modding the game.

Oh, ok, thank you. I hope then we can get some survivalist mods like Primary Needs.

They're not going to "fix" any crafting or stealth mechanics because guess what? The game is out. People are playing it. They will not risk removing or altering perks or gameplay that people have invested in and may have appreciated.

No they don't.
-Loth

That made me laugh, even though I play on a console. I have no issues with the balance, either, although I haven't played a high level magic user, so cannot comment on the underpowered destruction. I enjoy the fact that Draugh that kicked my ass when I was level 12 are falling to my Daedric Axe at level 34.

I would love to see some comprehensive bug fixing done this month. And the sooner the ck comes out, the better, for PC players.

It s not crafting itself that break the game

It s the combination of those:

-sword skill (bladesman, etc)
-smithing (basic + potion + items)
-stealth (x6 and x15 for swords and daggers, compared to x3 for bow and x0 for magic)
-enchanting
-failure to set a limit on higher quality equipment
(daedric is already kickass, it shouldnt go much further up)

because otherwise it s not that dramatic

the biggest problem is why the blacksmith potion give +120% instead of +32% like other potions
finaly why does the blacksmith get bonus from both enchant and potions

the other big problem is the ridiculous dammage from stealth

but more critical than anything else is the small number of enemies. when you play on master you should get flooded with forsworn, falmers and so on
and they should have enemies spawners until you get rid of the big boss

they should be more creative and dynamic in creating miniboss and special boosted versions of creatures

and finally there is a lack of supernatural support for our enemies
(shouldnt forsworn get legions of daedra to help .... there are verry few daedra types in this game)

IMHO the balance is fine as long as you stay within limits. I did spam iron daggers to jack up smithing, but only to improve my thieve's guild armor. At level 31 I use upgraded TG armor and an unenchanted but improved ebony sword. Blade skill is slightly over 50. I still get killed on a fairly regular basis and/or need to quaff potions to win a fight.

I like the fact that the game remains playable without min/maxing your character. My character makes sense to me - a swordsman/thief using light armor and very limited magic. Then there is my mage character who uses only magic, no sneak and never a weapon. Finally there is my heavy armor sword and board character who uses no sneak and no magic. Each is a unique challenge and enjoyable. It would be a shame to see the game rebalanced such that only a master of all trades can succeed.

With CK being released, THAT will be the balance patch, and the bugs patch, and everything else that needs to be done.

If you are playing this on the console system, well now you know. (Although you should have learned from the past TES games that mods are what makes these games immortal... and run better)

What is this CK you're talking about?
The CK is the construction kit, the holy tool required in making the sacred mods which all pc players would kill themselves without, I myself am a worker of the infinite mysteries of the great creation kit

yeah you can easily solve the overpowered mechanics (smithing) by not using them but what about the underpowered skill's like destruction the only thing that can fix that is the upcoming patch which i hope it does

EDIT: mod's can fix it but the console players only hope for balance are patches

I'm just not having a problem with Destruction. It's very strong and I worked on it by taking the Perks for it and leveling it up. It's just fine the way it is. I don't want it overpowered in a patch. If somone wants it overpowered in a mod they can do that and leave it as it is for those who build it up. Sorry.

OP: If you feel that something is overpowered then you can simply not use that or level it up to something you are comfortable with. This isn't a multiplayer game, so terms like overpowered or exploit don't make any sense here. All that is required is a bit of self discipline.

Which makes no sense in an RPG.

I guess that if you yourself were living in a hostile land full of monsters, and someone approached you and said "Hello good sir/lady! We may live in harsh times, but fret not, you just have to study thi and train that a bit, and you will minimise any danger" you'd respond "Sorry, I prefer living dangerously  " Yeah? NO! So, why should my characters choose to live dangerously?

Because he's Austin Powers?

But you are correct. From a design perspective, it should never resort to "Don't like it, don't use it." when it comes to balancing items/skills

And you. What the hell are you talking about? No one is demanding these things, it's when they said they would be released.

What bethesda needs to do is fix their broken game that has been out for almost three months not *balance the game* it's completely pointless if something is overpowered then you have a choice to not use it.

the only thing that needs balance is crafting.
and even that is simple as iron daggers not leveling you up past lvl 30 smithing

It's your choice to buy the game on the X-box. If you liked vanilla oblivion, then it's perfectily fine. If you want the option to customize the game to your own preferences, then you should have bought it for a platform that supports that.

Destruction BTW i not exactly underpowered - just very badly balanced.

A very easy way to fix it would be

1) Make damage scale with skill level, like all other damage skills
2) Cap fortify magic to something like 75%, so you can't just spam firestorm and fire runes with 0 magica cost.

Which would make Destruction spells from weak but neverending attacks to proper magic. It would also do wanders to the fact that the best mage build atm is heavy armour, all point to health (bleh =_=)

Because everyone has a computer that can play Skyrim and/or had a choice about what console they have. Oh wait... that's just silly.
