The people complaining on this thread are under the assumption that we're trying to "beat Skyrim" and that it's too easy to "win". I simply have to shake my head and sigh. I can also rejoice in the fact that in a month or two they wont be here.
So... let me guess, you're
not trying to kill the Bandit or Troll when you swing your sword at them, cast a spell on them, or shoot an arrow into their head, instead you're just starting a dialoge for a peace treaty, right?
...thereby forcing everyone to make nukes, because there are enemies wandering the world that will one-hit anyone who didn't go the UltraMinMax route. Not particularly good balance, either.
Nope, no one would have to make nukes if they didn't desire to.
Why?
Because, a.) the ability of the enemy can be subtle, like being able to cast Dispel on the player to temporarily remove their enchantments, or b.) using "if" statements in coding, "if player has X armor, spawn enemy with X whatever." Thus meaning, if you never reach a certain height of power, you may never see how hard Alduin, or a Dragon Priest, could
actually be.
also, re: "people shouldn't have to make things harder for themselves"..... no matter the game, no matter how hard, some fraction will find them not challenging enough, and seek to add additional difficulty for themselves. see: speed runs, Diablo "naked" runs, dead-is-dead in games that don't include the option normally, Doom "chainsaw only" runs, Bungie's "Vidmaster" oath, etc.
Yes you are correct, except in those instances, most of the games this is done for are
skill based games, relying more on hand-eye coordination, timing, and twitch reflexes.
