At level 36, I have some complaints.

At level 71 I have only one complaint; magic svcks right now.

I have a level 75 character and I agree.

I really don't understand the complaint about random encounters along the road. Pretty much everything give a warning telling you not to get close. A bear will stand up showing its presence. Wolves will howl. Bandits will outright tell you to keep your distance.

Obey that and you won't get in trouble with them. With enough stamina and/or high enough level you can just ignore them and run past them, and unlike Oblivion where they would follow you forever, here they will give up. 100 times better than Oblivion. And I love it. Roleplay - use your senses and look out for danger and you usually can stay clear. Sometimes you'll just get surprised and get a whopping - that kind of stuff tends to happen a lot in role playing games...

Sure, sure, I get that.

But the number of times I've come across a bear resting right in the middle of a paved road goes into double digits. You don't out run a bear. (At least not with heavy armor)

Well, this isn't really a fix for #6, but you can make it so dragons never start spawning if you don't start the main quest. I personally love that, it makes for a fairly different experience.

I get it, I have most of those complaints too.

I made a horrible build though, so much is on me.

My poor pasty faced, fumbling idiot of a character (whom I love and still nurturing), got 3 dragons within 20 minutes. Poor guy almost needed to change his underwear.

And I get critters resting on the road all the time.

Thing that gets me is the bugged quests. The ones I can't complete. Thank Talos I save alot.

Pray for my character, he really needs it.

1: Biggest complaint: The sheer number of things that randomly attack you on the way to anywhere at all. On the road (the ROAD, not the middle of the woods, the ROAD that everyone travels on) between the Valtheim Towers and Riften I counted no less than 3 attacks from bears who were sitting in the middle of the road and two simultaneous Troll attacks. That's idiotic. The forest should be dangerous but you should at LEAST be able to stay on the apparently well-travelled road for more than a minute without 3 wolves, a bear, giant spider, troll and 2 more trolls barreling at you cause you killed their cousins one minute ago during the last attack. Especially annoying considering the awesomely ultra-realistic way that my character is utterly helpess and vulnerable while riding a 700-pound war horse. That's okay cause if I get attacked I can just hit E and, within the hour, he'll be off the horse and ready to ragdoll into a tree while pulling out his weapons. Then the horse will run 10 miles up the road to fight 2 more bears.

2: Stop telling me I'm detected when it's my own horse that detects me.

3: The hot keys do not work for dual wielding. How this got by testers I do not know. I really should be able to just hold shift or something when assigning hotkeys to assaign something to the left hand.

4: Are there no execution animations for dual wield either? I've only ever seen them when I accidentally kill someone with just one weapon. If true, very disappointing for dual-wield assassin.

5: The post-process contrast stuff that darkens the screen when you look into fire is REALLY irritating. Especially because it happens wether you look into fire or not. If that waterfall is slightly whiter than its surroundings, then that water fall is all you're allowed to see for the next few seconds. I've found this effect particularly obnoxious in Markarth.

6: Frequency of dragon attacks. At around the 40th time one showed up I was just rolling my eyes and saying ugh, I'm in the middle of something, go away.

7: NPCs are way too talkative. I did not ask if you work the mill, or if it is fulfilling or if it pays well. I didn't ask because this is the 100,000th time you've volunteered the information while I sprinted past you.

8: The horse can run off on its own but no one thought to give it a map marker or something? After every battle I have to climb a rock and try to spot my horse among the trees. Surely that will never get old. Let me guess: 'eh, the modders will do something about it'.

9: This is inexcuseable: Every time a quest requires that someone other than Uthgerd follow me into a dungeon, Uthgerd is gone when I return. I use the console to bring her back to me and find that EVERYTHING in her inventory has been stripped out for no reason, even though her dialog options indicate she is still following me. I've tried sending her home beforehand only to find her not there and, when I console-teleport her back she's lost everything again anyway. I teleported myself to HER at one point and ended up http://i.imgur.com/R3znp.jpg. It made me sad.
1. No opinion really

2. I COMPLETELY agree. SO annoying....

3. I don't hot key

4. I've done it a few times

5. No opinion

6. Agreed.

7. Kinda agree...

8. Yep. I use Shadowmere and he's an amazing horse. I can always find him, and he's practically invincible. Other horses I find just randomly run off and die easily.

9. No opinion.

Just fyi, I get FAR FEWER encounters in Skyrim than I did in Oblivion. In fact, the very first time I played Oblivion, I was completely ticked about how often you had encounters on the roads. It was totally unrealistic for many reasons (for example, the merchants have to travel between towns, and some townsfolk actually do during the game... and some wind up getting killed due to the idiotic encounter rate). In Skyrim, I can run all over the tundra and encounter maybe a couple of wolves. The roads are safe aside from an occasional random encounter (including assassins sent specifically for me, of course). I can run from Whiterun to Markath and have perhaps a handful of encounters, including noncombat encounters such as patrols of Imperials or Thalmor escorting captives.

1: I hate this as well, and is the main reason I fast travel to towns I've already visited. But sometimes I run into dragons there. (I must have saved the citizens of Riverwood ten times now.)

2: I find this to be only a minor annoyance. I just get used to it.

4: There are execution moves. I get the animations alot while dual wielding in combat and in stealth kills.

6: This is a major problem, so I agree. I always have plenty of Dragon Souls absorbed before I even get to word walls (And I sneak by more than half of the dragons I encounter, and I am actively hunting down all the word walls at the same time I am avoiding them. What does that tell you?)

7: To be honest the lag on the ps3 bothers me more than this. However, I do agree with you that it is ridiulous enough to complain about.

There are several. Seen a decapitating one and several others. They seem to get more numerous as the 1-H skill increases or as the perks for dual wield are unlocked.

The issue with detected and friendly NPC or other companions is an annoyance but I can see why they did it.

I agree with the OP , especially...

1. It seems safe to assume a well traveled road would be a lot safer and free of wild animals and things than the middle of the woods or in the mountains, who can disagree with that? Also, is this something that can be patched? Or is a complaint like this hopeless? I think if you are travelling a freeway and you have to fight every few minutes that can be very annoying.

7. Yeah I have always wondered that! It seems some parths of the Elder Scrolls are so realistic and immersive, but it makes no sense that people would talk to a stranger as they walk by like that. Since when do people in the real world talk to strangers every time they walk by? Can this be fixed please?

8 and 9. There really needs to be some attention payed to horse and human companions, there is a lot of potential here but there is a huge lack of the ability to communicate/command/store goods on your horse/companion. Also can we give our horse or companion a healing potion to heal them? I'd be greatly disapointed, since it would be important to heal them in times of need.

Is there any official response to this?

Im level 38, just raise enchanting and smithing to raise your damage ratings to the hundreds and you'll slay virtually anything :)
I would of LOVED your epic troll bear wolf spider fight, easy killing and fun slashing time ^.^

it makes some dungeons impossible to navigate without a torch.
Most dungeons should be very hard to get through without a light source. This is a good thing. I actually find myself occasionally having to use my Khajiit's Night Eye power now, unlike unmodded Oblivion. I wish there was more of a need for torches/light spells/night eye.

I'm level 52, and yeah, it's tough. But it's not ridiculous.

I'm honestly glad dungeons are darker because now you actually need to use a torch.
Or you can just use Magelight (Alteration) or Candlelight (Alteration) if you don't want to carry a torch.

But yeah, Ancient Dragons are hard as hell.

And the dual-wielding thing-- I play on PC, so just apply the concept to whatever you play on.
If you have two of the same items... Say two Glass Daggers.
In your favorites, it will show up as "Glass Dagger (2)"
What you can do, is left click on it, then right click on it. Or vice-versa.
You're now dual-wielding them.

However, it'll bug out if you have two of the same IMPROVED items.
So if you have two "Glass Dagger (Epic)," and you try this, it'll glitch and only put one on whatever hand you chose, even though it still says, "Glass Dagger (Epic) (2)"
Very unfortunate for the higher levels... Especially with smithing at 100.

Dual wield hot key for PC does work. just have to set a weapon for right hand, and one for left.

The problem is that it sometimes disappears, and has to be reset.

It seems to work for me.
What I did was put the weapon on a hot key and hit that hot key twice.

So if the Glass Dagger is on 3, hit 3 twice and it should be on both hands.

A tip, it works the same way for spells.

Also, if the item is improved, it will glitch entirely.
It'll actually only put the item in one hand and unmap the hot key completely.

the OP is definitely onto something with the horses
the rest of his complaints are highly subjective though and minor at best
some of the complaints in here are ridiculous though
like hating ash piles
so what there's some ash piles lying around, like that ruins your experience in any way
they totally make sense and everything

I made an account just to respond to all of the complainers. You know, gaming has come a long way in the last 25 or so years. Rewind yourself to 1985 if your my age (40) and compare this game to a game back then. It seems no matter what developers or companies do or make these days, someone is always complaining and cutting down the finished product. We as a gaming community have been spoiled. Nothing is ever good enough. Remember when just seeing a dragon alone was cause for excitement? Now we have people complaining because there are too many in a game. I remember one of the knocks on Oblivion was that it's outdoor area was too sparse, not enough monsters to fight when exploring outdoors. Now, they increase the random encounter rate and people complain it's too much. No one is ever satisfied. I can't even count how many times I have sat in amazement at this game. How detailed it is. How realistic they tried to make it. No, I'm not a really devoted fan of any company or any particular game. My point is this..quit focusing on the negative. Quit complaining. Enjoy the game. No game is perfect, as is no human that makes said game. Every game will have flaws, if you can't deal with that, well, maybe gaming isn't your thing. I for one love the game..and am appreciative that I am able to play it. Instead of focusing on EVERY damn thing you can think of you don't like, try focusing on the positive for once. Be appreciative...or else, if you can do better all you complainers out there, then start your own gaming company, and prove yourself. Otherwise..quit the QQ-ing.

Not been able to read everything, I stopped here to catch my breath.. horses in general and all the stories around horses.
I can't help it.. I get stuck laughing forever, thanks!

Anyway, agree on the horse part at least.
Tho it is funny, it gets annoying after an while
